Young Hollywood, what is going on? We have Ross Lynch in the Young Hollywood studios. Dude, love this guy. I'm going to tell you right now, you deserve an Oscar for this film.

Ross Lynch's Thoughts

What's up? Yeah, man. You think so?

Young Hollywood

I'm going to start off with an Oscar. Yeah.

Ross Lynch's Thoughts

Thanks, you.

Young Hollywood

I'm going to predict it actually. Can I predict this?

Ross Lynch's Thoughts

My brother predicted the same thing. Did he really? But I mean, you know, you show up on set, you do your best. You, uh, try to pick the right role, try to pick good directors, right script. I think in this case it it worked out for, uh, for the whole film.

Young Hollywood

Right. Tell us what the film's called. Tell us anything you can about the film.

Ross Lynch's Thoughts

So the film's called My Friend Dahmer. It's essentially about one of America's most notorious serial killers, Jeffrey Dahmer. Right. Who killed 17 young men in Milwaukee. And I play the high school version of him when he's sort of, I guess, coming to be. He's not a sideshow attraction. We're just having fun, you know. Get out of your shell! You need to be more normal.

Young Hollywood

That's a tough role.

Ross Lynch's Thoughts

Yeah, it's a- it was good.

Young Hollywood

There's you have like a a physical thing that you do. It's a tough role. In the role. The role that you play. You kinda you do you do some physical acting.

Ross Lynch's Thoughts

Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. I I personally think that physical acting, or just your body, should represent the character. I think it's overlooked a lot of the time for young actors.

Young Hollywood

Teach me what you did. What did you do?

Ross Lynch's Thoughts

Right. So, so I watched this video of Jeffrey Dahmer. And, uh, when he first walks into the room it really struck me 'cause it you just see how big he is, and how kinda awkward he is in his own skin and things like that. And I thought it was a good representation of like who he is. I think I think the way everyone moves is a great representation of of of who they are and how how they how they act.

Young Hollywood

I feel like I'm in that show Inside the Studio right now, but okay. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going.

Ross Lynch's Thoughts

So, so I just watched that a bunch of times. I'd like go back and just keep watching it. Um, and I have a I have like pretty extensive dance background. Right. So, what I saw was he was like he would like shuffle his feet and he he kinda just like hunched over. Like not obviously we're sitting down. Right. So, I can't really like but yeah. He he wouldn't move his arms much and he just kinda stoked over.

Young Hollywood

I'm gonna try it. So he's like. Sorta. Yeah. Right?

Ross Lynch's Thoughts

Yeah. I mean, essentially, yeah.

Young Hollywood

What did you think was like the most interesting thing about Jeffrey Dahmer when you were doing your research?

Ross Lynch's Thoughts

I thought one really interesting thing was how, um, convincing he was. Right. There was a few more multiple times where he was like got by by the skin of his teeth by just being convincing to the cops. Like he literally at one point, he got pulled over for I think drinking and driving. And he somehow talked his way out of it. And he had a dead body in his trunk the entire time.

Young Hollywood

Wow.

Ross Lynch's Thoughts

And the cop even, I think, made a reference to like his the smell. He's like, "What's that smell?" And he just said like, "Oh, like I'm I'm taking the trash out."

Young Hollywood

Wow.

Ross Lynch's Thoughts

And completely got away with it. Yeah. And then that happened on multiple scenarios. Right. He had like a normalness about him which would you could easily just Yeah. Trust away.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. You filmed in Ohio?

Ross Lynch's Thoughts

We filmed in Jeffrey Dahmer's childhood house.

Young Hollywood

What? That's spooky.

Ross Lynch's Thoughts

It is spooky.

Young Hollywood

That's spooky. What did you think when you had to show up?

Ross Lynch's Thoughts

You know what, for me, for me it was like it was a really pretty house. Yeah. Yeah, I was I was really comfortable on set, to be honest with you. I'm from Ohio. We build good houses in Ohio, just so you guys know that. Yeah. To continue this. And and the the scenery, everything like is super beautiful. But the crew definitely were like every time we got on set, it was definitely like super eerie for the crew.

Young Hollywood

As an actor, how do you wash this character off of you? Like it feels like I mean you gotta you're gonna hold on to it for the maybe rest of your life. This is the role you played and you it you went through it. I mean, how do you get rid of that?

Ross Lynch's Thoughts

Whether or not, actually, uh, I kinda used the shower. Like I'm I'm it sounds funny, but I'm I'm being dead serious. They put this colored mousse in my hair. And, uh, every day I'd I'd spend I don't know how long I'd spend, but it it was definitely a long shower. Right. And I'd kinda like wash the mousse go out of my hair and then that was like my way of shedding Dahmer for the day.

Young Hollywood

True Oscar actor right here speaking, you guys. I'm telling you right now. This guy's gonna win an Oscar for this performance.

Ross Lynch's Thoughts

Thanks, man.

Young Hollywood

Also, we love your music, dude. This guy's come in so many times for R5. What do we have coming up for R5?

Ross Lynch's Thoughts

I appreciate that. We just toured Europe for about six weeks. And now we're going to South America in December. Beginning of December. And then, uh, we got new music coming out all the time. The thing with the new, you know, the new music industry with all the streaming and everything like that. You kinda have to be consistent on releases. Right. So, we're really just trying to be, um, being on top of that and release a lot of music.

Young Hollywood

My Friend Dahmer, you guys go see it. It's awesome. Dude, Ross, thank you so much for coming in.

Ross Lynch's Thoughts

Thank you, man.
