Young Hollywood

Hey guys, Baruch here with Young Hollywood and it is model mayhem here at New York Fashion Week. We're taking you behind the scenes with La Perla's creative director, Giovanni Bianchi. Congratulations on this beautiful collection.

Giovanni Bianchi

Thank you. Thank you.

Young Hollywood

Who is the La Perla woman?

Giovanni Bianchi

The Italian woman. Not only the actress. The beauty of the women is on the street everywhere. Sophisticated and elegant.

Young Hollywood

Many, many women are fans of La Perla and many celebrities are fans of La Perla. We've seen Kim Kardashian, we've seen Victoria Beckham. Who are your favorite celebrity fans of La Perla?

Giovanni Bianchi

Last summer, La Perla did a little capsule collection with Jean Paul Gaultier. We had the chance to dress Madonna during the world tour, she wearing La Perla underwear. We was proud of that.

Young Hollywood

She of course is known for wearing underwear as outerwear.

Giovanni Bianchi

Yeah. When I was starting to work for La Perla in the 80s, it was a new era for lingerie. We became very trendy because La Perla was the first haute couture brand in terms of lingerie.

Young Hollywood

What are the biggest trends that we're seeing this season coming up in lingerie?

Giovanni Bianchi

It's the La Perla mood, the strange items that we can do inside of the collection that are a little bit in and out. And make lingerie with leather, a little bit like in the new issue of Black Label. We do something very sexy, very seductive.

Young Hollywood

Finally, I know that you also design uh, men's underwear, you design swimwear. How does your approach differ when you're approaching these other lines?

Giovanni Bianchi

Swimwear is something that absolutely show off in a different time during the, the resort, the, the holidays. And we try to do something that link the underwear with the, the beachwear. Uh, men's wear, I say that is the husband of the women that wear La Perla. And men's wear of La Perla is very high quality to give the maximum of comfort to men.
