Hey, I'm Maggie Grace.
Welcome back to Young Hollywood. We're sitting with Oliver today, who's telling us all about his mother issues. Oliver, what would you say the root of this sort of odd fixation of yours begins? Would you what's your earliest childhood memory?
My mom.
And does that bring up any feelings for you? Do you feel like? Mommy stuff. What you laughing at?
Nothing. I'm funny, and the interview hasn't even started yet.
No, I was I was just kind of, you know, observing that like, you're like getting your character together. Right. What don't you do that? Like, oh, yes, I'll give you tips on your London trip. Like after the oh, I am Maggie Grace by the way.
I am Oliver. I am Oliver. You're Maggie Grace.
He's on the breakdown, everyone. She has a Hollywood breakdown. Okay. Okay. Okay. I was born ready. Go. Oh, it wasn't that bad. It was like, wow, dude, I didn't realize it was like a character. I was joking. When we wrap, are you gonna be like, see I'm spent. You know.
I was joking.
I don't know. I don't know. You don't get back in now. I don't know your life. I'm here with the beautiful Maggie Grace. This is Maggie Grace making fun of me. How are you?
I'm good. Good.
I'm thanks for stopping in. Even though I don't mean it now, cause you're making fun of me. Give me a complex. Get out. Leave. We'll take Liam in here. Liam's coming in there. Is he really?
No. No. No. I just pretended.
Um, but yeah, Taken 2. Taken 2. The second one. Would you worry because sometimes sequels can be a bit iffy, can't they? Like a bit dodgy.
Historically yes. But I wasn't worried when I read it. They they that's why we waited so long. We waited five years to make sure we got it great, you know. Right. It's really compelling and it's it's not it's not a coincidence. Everyone's like, do you get Taken again? We don't. No, it's really a very compelling story, driven more by by vengeance. It's a family vendetta. Your mother and I are gonna be taken. And people are gonna come for you, too. Leave the place where you are. Go to where the book is, I told you about. There's a door going through the room. And hide in the closet. You got that? Yes. Go. Now.
Same feelings as the first one. Yes. Quite sad, isn't it? Yeah. Mommy going. I can imagine that. I think I'd be a really good actor if I had to do a film like that, cause I'd be able to cry instantly. I'd be like, mom. I could even just go cry, thinking about it. So you you're saying you could only do a film if it really touched upon your extensive mommy issues. Other than that, no.
But like certain Shakespearean roles. Gay. Done. Done deal.
Why are you doing this? I'm just saying. Let's move on again. I'm just mirroring what you said to me. You've got a lot of stunts in the film, haven't you? If you had to choose a word to really sum up how you're feeling right now.
Mother. Hug. Touch. Human contact. Love. Womb.
Right. Right. Is you're actually on a ridge?
Mhm. That was that was a ridge. It was a real ridge.
No, I didn't know if it was like off it, you'll jump onto here.
No, you mean the one in the trailer, the really high. That one, there was a little little change. We were So we shot kind of on top of a parking garage that had the same height, the same view. Okay. But then of course, I'm not gonna potentially fall to my death as much as it would disappoint you to hear that.
Good to know. Good to know. And the car chase, that was interesting.
It was amazing. But it's also not actually me driving. Sadly.
Of course. Shocked. Yes. They had a top right. Get out. Yeah. You're not even Maggie, are you? No. Where's Maggie? Where is she? I'm not that cool. You're you're Twilight as well. This is massive, isn't it? And you're in that.
Yeah. I'm the villain. I'm an evil vampire.
Do you find that easy?
Um, typecasting, clearly.
Right. I didn't wanna say that, you did, but that's fine. We'll go with that. It's on the record. Um, and uh, that's all coming out pretty soon. Is it is it as mental as being part of that as it seems watching it from the outside? Because people are crazy. I've heard that.
I haven't, you know, my character's just in the next one. So it's I've yet to experience the joy.
Enjoy that. Hard, dumb. Your obviously your movie's called Taken. Yes. So this is about taking things, right? Okay. So you can take one of these things with you, okay? To a desert island. If you're gonna be on a desert island for the rest of your life. One of these things. Um, what one item of clothing would you take? On a desert island? Um,
Spotties out, Maggie, come on. I'd say a really large hat. I think sun protection.
I'll tell you what, it'd be great on the guy on the island next to you. There's just you and a hat. Oh, it's hilarious. Brilliant. Let me know where that island is. I'll be there.
Like the derby, like large hat. So the rest is very on show. Um,
It's an island. I like the way you think. Chocolate bar. You want a chocolate bar? Do you got a favorite? American chocolate kinda sucks, I've got to be honest.
Uh, Big Tree Farms. It's like a they do like a raw cacao coconut. It's a very very advanced, very advanced chocolate.
You said that like I wouldn't know it. Well, I just assumed. Well, your favorite food. What would you take?
Um, Favorite food. I mean, if I'm alone on a desert island for the rest of my life, can we just go with scotch? Are we really gonna waste time with
So you've got booze, tea, chocolate, and alcohol. Sounds like a brilliant party to me. How did I know this conversation was eventually gonna lead just exactly here. You brought it here, Maggie. This was a very friendly game here at Young Hollywood and you made it into what it was. Um, that's why you're playing a villain in Twilight. Full circle.
Mhm. It works a lot out on this. I feel like it's been a therapy session for you as well.
I feel like we need to talk about your mother issues. You know, there's a very famous experiment from the 60s where they had a baby monkey in a cage and it was at a very vulnerable age and at one end was a a fake wire mommy that had a a bottle of milk. And on the other was a a wire mommy that had terry cloth and sort of mimicked being held. Do you know what happened, Oliver? The monkey died. It died. The baby monkey died. Oh. Strong one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Well, you're weird. Maggie, thank you for coming in.
Thank you. Namaste, Oliver.
