Hi, I'm Nikki Novak.
And I'm Kevin James. Are you down yet? Let's do it again. You've done this before.
Yeah.
Hi, I'm Nikki. And I'm Kevin James. Boom. Here it comes. Here it comes. See the movie, you'll get what we're doing and why.
Yeah, you're not going to understand still you see the movie. It doesn't make a lot of sense right now. It looks like a whole different channel for Young Hollywood. Here with the awesome Kevin James.
Nikki, thank you so much for awesome. I mean, you didn't need to do it. You know what? I can do better.
Yeah, I don't think you can.
I can't. Do you want to hear it?
I'd like to.
Okay. This is in the spirit of the movie, all right? Okay. Twisted!
Yeah! Yes. That is pretty good. That did rock it up a notch.
A little bit, right? You took it up a little. More than a little. More than a little. Should I take it down a little?
One, no, I don't think so. I don't think so. I don't think you need to. That was in the spirit of the film. There's a lot of cheering that goes on in this film because you are a kick-ass.
Yes.
Fighter lover.
Well. Sort of. You know, it depends what kick-ass, you know, lover is really.
Well, you had a love in Salma Hayek. I mean.
Yeah, well oh, yes. The attempt of my love. She's a beautiful, beautiful woman but I yeah. But you, I have to say. Yes. Sexy in this movie. Yes, and that all went away since then. No. You know the old cut. When they yelled cut on that last take, I literally was knee-deep in shepherd's pie. I was eating and and that was the end of it. And it's been so much fun. But now I have it. I can just say to my kids, they go, are you always this, you know, tummy always so big? And I go, no, no, no, no. I go, look at this. It was a lot smaller than.
Well, listen, we have a highlight reel for you if you want to take it home and show your kids, right over your shoulder.
I need that. I need that. Do I really?
Yes. This is Here Comes the Boom. Okay.
Oh, look at that. Look at that. Well, that's not so great. That's good. That's all right. Oh. I did get pounded there. Yep, I remember that. Just a little bit there. That hurt. That was bad. That felt good. Not so good there. Oh, dang. Wow, that was fast. That's some action. Good job putting that together, by the way.
So, there you go. You can take it home with you. It's a commemorative Young Hollywood reel.
That's the real stuff. I thank you, Young Hollywood, because that's what I need.
So, so you got in tremendous shape, as you were saying.
I worked hard.
And I know you're a huge UFC fan, going back years.
Yeah, in 1993 was the first one. And that's the one I saw originally and I was like, wow, this is crazy. This is so nuts that these guys do this. And uh, since then, have always kind of been a fan. And became friendly with a lot of the fighters, especially Bas Rutten, who was in the movie with me. He was great.
Isn't he fantastic?
Fantastic in the movie. I was always the one saying, you got to be an actor, man. Get out of fighting. You need to do this because you're funny. He's really. And charismatic. He's great. Yes. So, I became friends with these guys and just realized what they were would go through to do this. And then find out they were regular guys, you know, because I was like, it's such a different world for me because I would never do what they do. Yeah. But yet, they're regular people who are just kind of fighting to put food on the table for their family and and, you know, and they love it.
So real-life terror though, let's talk about. In the ring, did you take some shots? Tell me what happened.
You know, it's when you're writing this, when I was writing the movie, I'm going, this is going to be good. We got to make it really vicious here and crazy. And then I forget that I'm going to be actually in there doing this.
And you're doing it. You're like, I'm writing it for myself.
Yes. Edit. I know it's going to look cool. Not thinking, I have to do this. Uh, and and these fighters are all programmed to to hit the hit you on the. That's all they're trained to do is fight and beat the beat the crap out of you. And uh, at the last minute, we're going, yeah, don't don't actually hit me though. Just kind of fake it. And they forget. And then they're in the ring and we're in a fight and they go, bonk, and I go, oh, okay, that's
Didn't you knock somebody out though accidentally in a rehearsal?
Well, when we were working out and training, I got knocked down by one guy. And then I was, I got up and I was wrestling with him. And we were in a hotel and we cleared the furniture because we had to get a workout in and we were on the road so we had to do it anyway. And I kind of threw him and my body fell on him and I didn't even know it. He was like knocked out for a second. It was just my body weight. And then like, oh, he's out. And I was like, yeah! Yeah, twisted. I took I took total credit. Twisted, yeah.
You did it.
I got nutty on it and I did. So. Boom, there we go. Here it comes. Boom. Here it comes. It it's it's you can't stop it. It'll go on infinity. You can't stop. When you see this movie, trust me, you walk out going, boom, boom, like every two seconds. Everything that happened in my life since then has been boom.
Yes. You also you also have some very tender moments in this film. There's tender. We don't. Yeah, you sort of did it all in this in this film. It's a potpourri. It really is. It brings everything together into a nice big bowl of jelly. So, is there anything quickly you can just teach me a move? I need an MMA move.
Okay. Um, now you give me the scenario. I'm walking down a street. Okay. I'm alone. Right. Late at night. Okay. I hear footsteps behind me.
Where are you? I'm What do you mean? Work with me.
Where are you? I mean, are you in an alley? Are you in a? Clearly not going. Are you in a Best Buy? If you're in a Best Buy, you just call the help.
No, I'm not. No Best Buys around. No major like stores around. We're we're remote. We're talking remote. We're maybe on the border somewhere. I don't know.
You're okay. We're in the border in the cornfield? I mean, is it Children of the Corn?
You're afraid of what's happening. Something like that. It could be slightly supernatural but it's more of like a real imposed threat. Okay, so it's real. He's here. It's physical. It's not spiritual. Adrenaline's going. Right. Adrenaline's going. And what happens now? I need to defend myself. I hear footsteps behind me.
From the footsteps. You go like this. That's all you have to do. And those footsteps go away. Make it go away. Make it go away. That's what I did. Boom.
Kevin James, thank you so much for coming in.
Thank you. Thank you for having me. That was such a pleasure. You're the best. Great movie.
I appreciate it.
Boom. Everybody needs to go see it today.
