KAT GRAHAM

I do my warm ups for about an hour before I even step foot in the studio.

Young Hollywood

Let's hear a little warm up. What's what's the Kat Graham? We got to hear a little something. Come on.

KAT GRAHAM

No. No. It's like relax the jaw. Like they're so annoying.

Young Hollywood

take advantage of you. Drink up this here, hanging out at the Young Hollywood studio. This time we have got a triple threat for you. The one and only Kat Graham, singer, actress, dancer. That's a lot that you got going on right now.

KAT GRAHAM

It's a lot. It's a lot. I always get asked this really weird question. People are like, well, what are what else do you have? Like any other talent? And I'm like, no, that's it. Just those three. So it's always pretty embarrassing. I don't know why I just admitted that though.

Young Hollywood

That's good, that's important. Now I want to talk about the music. People think, you know, it's something new that you've just been doing recently. They don't realize you've you sort of been doing it a while. It's something you you've really been into.

KAT GRAHAM

Yeah. Yeah, I always get weird when they're like, oh, it's the actress turn singer. I'm like, um, no, because I started making music when I was 14 and I was um, working with will. i. am for like two years before I even got the audition for Vampire Diaries. I was already on tour with the Peas and and doing so many different records. And then after I got Vampire Diaries, that was when I really started to focus on my solo music. I had signed to a label while I was like during like the second season of Vampire Diaries, and then I got out of that and then signed to and I'm Octone this year. And since released, "Put Your Graffiti On Me" and stuff like that. So it's never been, you know, the actress turned singer. It's it's always existed, you know, it just.

Young Hollywood

And how'd you connect with Will in the first place? How'd you guys hook up?

KAT GRAHAM

I don't know. We met at some event and we just got along really well. We always dressed kind of crazy. Right. And um, and I was always sending him beats because I was obsessed with being a beat maker. I still am.

Young Hollywood

And speaking of beats, I mean, you've had some pretty incredible people doing beats for you over the years. I mean, Damon Elliott, who's done the who's who, who's done done some beats.

KAT GRAHAM

Yeah, I did get the party started. He's done a lot. He was the guy that did my first first beat, but I've been working with these cool guys who did they did um "Put Your Graffiti On Me" um Twice as Nice, who are really, really dope.

Young Hollywood

I take advantage of you. Drink up this I'm gay. Tag me. Tag me. And how involved are you now in that process though? Do they just give you the tracks or you actually saying this is sort of what I wanna what I want to put together?

KAT GRAHAM

No, they they know I'm a little um uh fierce when it comes to the creative process, and I love to be involved and they know that if they leave the studio, I'll be behind the mixer and messing with stuff. So the producers don't like to leave the room much. And the engineers don't like to leave because I'll be in the seat the second that they get out.

Young Hollywood

Do you have any rituals when you're going in the studio? Anything that you always have to do?

KAT GRAHAM

I do my warm-ups for about an hour before I even step foot in the studio.

Young Hollywood

Let's hear a little warm-up. What's the Kat Graham? We got to hear a little something. Come on.

KAT GRAHAM

The warm-ups? Okay, it's um I don't want the process to start cranking now. They're not even. No, no one loves them. They're so annoying. They're like The weird noises, do you do those? I do them. I do the It's like relax the jaw. I do all my like Roger Love is my amazing coach and we do all the Like they're so annoying.

Young Hollywood

And do those really work? I mean, a lot like

KAT GRAHAM

They really do. I mean, it's important to kind of get your chest voice, your mix, and your head voice kind of fully warmed up. I always have room temperature water. I love it really warm. Like I love being like sweaty hot in the studio. So I kind of drive everyone crazy. It's also really good for your it's really warm in here. I love it. I'm totally I can't stand being cold. It's a big pet peeve of mine. Like air condition blasting like I hate it.

Young Hollywood

Right. And and you're on obviously a ton of people's radar right now, but Perez Hilton's been a cheerleader from from the get-go.

KAT GRAHAM

My love. I always say like Perez is one of the greatest loves of my life. Really, somebody who's pioneered me from when a time that you really had to have a vision to be working with me. Like you had to understand where it was going, 'cause when I first started, the music was okay. It wasn't where it's at now by far. He was somebody that just got it and he's somebody who understands music in a way that I don't think people quite realize just yet. You know, he he really gets behind artists that are a little left. And um he's just we've just been we just kind of clicked immediately. We both kind of keep it real with each other. I never have to worry about him saying it's dope if it's not, you know.

Young Hollywood

Right. And that's the kind of people I like to surround myself with. And and you say you're a little left of center. So how would you actually describe the whole Kat Graham package?

KAT GRAHAM

I'm still figuring myself out, but I would say that I'm a performer. You know, I'd say that I'm an intense artist. I'm kind of intense.

Young Hollywood

Well, thank you for coming in. There you go. This has been great.

KAT GRAHAM

Thank you guys for having me.

Young Hollywood

Well, thank you so much, the one and only Kat Graham. Normally, I'd say keep an eye out for for her music or her acting, but I think with this one, you got to keep an eye out for both of them.

KAT GRAHAM

For both of them, baby.

Young Hollywood

There you go. There you go.
