How's it going?

So good to see you. I'm very happy to be here and very proud of here comes the boom. I saw it last night. The place erupted at the end. I'm not giving it away, but it erupted. Wow. And it was one of those things, you know, you walk out and people are just, you hear, you know, you listen to see you hear what people are saying. And it was just all glowing. Amazing, amazing feedback.

Okay, I only saw it once and I was cheering and yelling at the screen.

And I was there. I was there when they filmed it. We were cheering and yelling in the film, too. Oh my God, I was cheering.

Did you learn any moves?

I learned nothing.

Really?

I learned This is what I learned. Kevin learned a lot. Oh, he Well, you know why? He's been training for 14 years. He has, hasn't he? I did see Kevin take after take after take, get smashed around in the rain, in the cold, in the arena on the mat. Go, watch the monitor because he's also the producer. Yeah. Okay, the take, came back, did it again. Time after time. Never complain. Yeah. So, no matter how tired you were, you said nothing. If he doesn't complain, I don't complain.

I can't imagine you being tired though because one thing I know about you, every role that you do, you bring so much energy to it.

Well, I love my job. Yeah. I I dreamt about being an actor when I was seven years old. I was told that I would never achieve. And look what I get to do.

Well, you have so many projects going on all at once. I mean, you have this film coming out. You have Royal Pains that I'm a huge fan of.

Yes. Thank you.

Arrested Development. Just finished shooting that. You did. So many people are Everybody's so excited about that.

Well, you know what happened? There are uh 10 episodes Yeah. And Mitch Hurwitz, the genius behind uh the show, brought everybody, all of the characters, up to 2012. So, now, um you know who they were, what they've been doing. And I am uh the family lawyer. And Children's Hospital as well. Just won the Emmy. Amazing. For the best short form on on television.

What are you attributing?

I'm knocking on wood. Here you go. And Leather Red. Leather Red, I'm just feeling great. I like rubbing the leather red.

It's cozy, isn't it?

It Oh, it just makes you feel so at home. And you don't just slide off the No. Oh, I can't.

Who says Kevin James is the king of physical comedy? There it was, right there.

Oh, he's great. He puts himself into it. He lost 70 pounds. And the man moves like a cat. And now he's like a panther. He's a panther. That's the word I use. Really? Oh my God. He moves like a panther.

Is that how you prepped him up? Cuz you were kind of coaching him through the whole thing. I mean, you know.

Yeah, but that was like I couldn't coaching him doing that.

What do you attribute? I mean, you've been in the business for such a long time. You've had so much success. You've kept it going.

Yes, where's my walker?

Advice, advice. Well, you started when you were four, so.

Yes. Advice to young actors? Young actors. I will tell you exactly. First of all, I live by tenacity and gratitude. Tenacity because it gets you where you want to go. Gratitude doesn't allow you to be angry along the way. So that you stay um an empty clean vessel. I think of myself as a forest ranger. I planted my career as a baby tree. And I wanted to grow strong and straight for the next 75 years. And so you take care of that. You're going to fall down. You're going to be rejected. You get back up. You dust yourself off. You know what you want. If you believe in yourself. And you just move toward your dream. That's what I would say.

I read a great story something about the the lead actor, the artist. Paid you an unbelievable compliment.

Sure. Okay. So, I I see the artist. And like everybody else, I am in love with the movie. It's a Friday night and I'm watching Jay Leno. And the actor, the lead actor, is on. And he starts to say, um, "Yes, I watched American television and I was inspired by the Fon." So, I say, "Oh my goodness, I want to tell him that I loved his movie. There's no way I would figure out how to get him on Friday night at 11:30." I go to bed and I'm just sad. Saturday morning, I get a phone call. "Hi. This is Sarah, and I represent Jean here in uh America and he would like to meet you." I go, "Are you kidding me? This is like surreal." Sunday night, 8:00, I go to Funny or Die where he is shooting uh vignettes. And we meet, and we hug, and I it's like unbelievable.

Well, Here Comes the Boom is one of my favorite movies.
