No, I didn't. Cuz where we grew up, well, especially where you grew up, it was even colder. No, absolutely. Also, by the way, it's bloody cold up in Northern California. It's really, really cold. But um, yeah, for sure. You don't get a lot of But by the way, there's great surfing in Scotland and they've actually had a couple of world championships there. Oh, wow. But it's not a typical place you would think about going going surfing. So I hadn't done much surfing and I wanted to do the movie. Right. What a great chance to to surf and then tell a great surf story.

No, no, I surfed like 10 years ago. I did for sure. So it was a bit easier.

Did you help Jerry in the in the process of learning how to surf?

No, not at all, man. He he was he trained for about a week and then started training me um to do the big waves because he went straight to big waves. He didn't even do He can't surf like a two-foot wave.

Is this true?

No, but I did try to learn surfing bigger waves cuz to me I thought if I could just get a couple of shots on a big wave. Right. You know, if we could if I could do it so I I practiced a lot of tow-in surfing knowing that then I would be able to go in the bigger waves cuz I wouldn't be able to paddle in in a big wave out at Maverick, but I could be towed in. So that's what I so that's what I did. So I managed to get in a few. Yeah. And yeah, and actually, I think it's for me easier to surf a bigger wave than it is a smaller wave. Not a big I mean, I'm not going to Don't bigger go home. But you're like don't have to do all the work. So.

Jay actually said the same thing in an interview. I was watching an interview of Jay and he's like it's I like doing big wave surfing because you're not dropping in doing all this crazy work. You just get in and get low and bomb. It's like Yeah, yeah, yeah.

See? He's just like Jay. Exactly the same, exactly the same. Sharks. There's sharks in the water. Did that not bother you? But there was cuz that's what won't get me in the ocean. I'd love to surf. It looks it just looks good.

The sharks only bothered us one day and we all out of there.

Yeah, yeah. We all got in the bone and then got out of there. And our boat was soft, so I'm pretty sure you could have bit right through it, but he's retarded, so.

Wow. I was going to Bob Pearson who's the guy who made all the surfboards for for the movie and became, you know, good friend, great guy. I went surfing with him one day and we stopped at a car park in between um Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz and a buddy of his he called this guy over and got well, he didn't even call him but he waved and the guy comes running over and said, all right, okay. 14-ft great white just came along the beach and me and my buddies that I was surfing with we all jumped out onto the beach and three seals jumped next to us. So everything just cleared out of the water. And this great white just came right down. It's like, you know, like yeah, don't give a shit. Whatever. I'm a great white.

I'll tell you what, if we're playing charades, that's what I would have guessed shark straight away. Shark, right?

Remember me about that joke. Two two lions walking down Oxford Street and one of them turns to the other one and he says, it's awful quiet for a Saturday afternoon, isn't it? You know, the fucking lions, of course. Who's going to be on Oxford Street with two lions walking down there. I heard it at Cracker Barrel by the way. Not one of my best but it just made me it took me back when I was thinking about the great white.

Yeah, I I I we both surfed yesterday. Yeah. Um and I but I haven't done it an awful lot, but I I really miss it. I've just I've been in Louisiana working there's not a lot of surf going on over there. But um I I loved it. I mean, I this movie is it's it's a it's a life-changing experience.

Yeah, you have to go out from now on. I mean, just like after a long period of time you're just going to have to go out. You get an itch. And and was your hair in the movie? Was your hair? Was he going to put that on?

No. Unfortunately that was my hair.

That was great. Well done, Jerry. I first came out. I thought great hair. Great head of hair. It was definitely. Really strong performance in the hair. Um and you produced the movie as well, right? So did you find the story is it a story?

No, no, no. They came to me and and basically said, look, we in fact, they said, if you don't you know, we want you to do this movie and if you don't, I don't know if they were just lying but they said, if you don't do this movie, it's not going to happen. So do it. And I went, all right. Well, then let me produce it. So I But I was just executive on it, you know, normally when I find a script and take it somewhere and get financing. I'd produce that.

Then you'll be a real producer. A real producer. Not just executive producer. But guys, congrats on the movie. Johnny, I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of you.
