Marion Cotillard

Hi, I'm Marion Cotillard, which is totally French.

Matthias Schoenaerts

And hi, I'm Matthias Schoenhaerts.

Young Hollywood

And what do you do?

Matthias Schoenaerts

I'm a professional ping pong player.

Young Hollywood

And I don't have an exotic name, but these two do. And you got to see Rust and Bone, it's amazing. Bonjour, je suis Nikki et je suis avec Marion Cotillard et Matthias Schoenhaerts. How did I do?

Marion Cotillard

Wow, perfect.

Young Hollywood

Je suis Canadien. I don't speak much French as you can tell. How did I do though?

Marion Cotillard

Wonderful.

Matthias Schoenaerts

You're the first one that makes sense.

Young Hollywood

But what is your, how would you pronounce your last name?

Matthias Schoenaerts

Um, I don't know, Schoenhaerts or something? I don't even, I don't even know how to say it myself. So.

Young Hollywood

Your parents didn't teach you?

Matthias Schoenaerts

In English, it's just weird, it's not, it's not.

Young Hollywood

But what is like the Belgian pronunciation?

Matthias Schoenaerts

Schoenhaerts.

Young Hollywood

It sounds so much better when you say it. Give that a try. Schoenhaerts. So, Rust and Bone was unbelievable. I know a lot of people are talking about Oscars already, and they're talking about buzz. First of all, I wanted to ask you, where do you keep your Oscar? The Oscar that you've already won.

Marion Cotillard

Uh, well, it's in Paris. I have to say right now, because I've been moving a lot, that it must be in a box somewhere. So, it must be written something that has nothing to like carpet or something. Like, tiny carpet. Nobody, nobody would ever look.

Young Hollywood

I read that you two, cuz I know the film obviously turned out amazing. When you first meet and when you first get together and do a table read, it can sometimes be awkward. Like, you're sort of trying to impress each other and you don't know how the other person feels.

Matthias Schoenaerts

Absolutely. That was, uh, the first reading. Of course, it's it's awkward, and the more you try to impress, the more you're not impressing at all. As an actor, right? It's like the more you try, the more you're in your head, it's just not going to work. And then the second time we met was on set, and there she was in her wheelchair, complete like. And I said, uh, hi Marion. She goes like. I was like, oh my God.

Young Hollywood

You thought she was one of those actresses, right?

Matthias Schoenaerts

I was like, oh my God, she doesn't, she doesn't like me. I don't know. But then once we did the first rehearsal, it was like, ah.

Marion Cotillard

Ah, quoi.

Young Hollywood

Do you get nervous still? Does it something,

Marion Cotillard

Oh yeah. Oh yeah, I will always be nervous. No, I didn't know Matthias, and and I and I felt when he started reading, I felt that it would be an amazing experience.

Young Hollywood

So, I know, you know, being an American, I know Americans tend to be very starstruck by celebrity. Is there anybody that you guys get starstruck over or, cuz I heard that you love Will Farrell and you love his movies.

Marion Cotillard

I do. I do.

Young Hollywood

Would that be somebody who you'd be starstruck meeting? Or if you met him?

Marion Cotillard

Yeah. It was horrible.

Young Hollywood

Why?

Marion Cotillard

Because I jumped on it.

Young Hollywood

I'm sure he didn't mind that.

Marion Cotillard

I didn't think, well, he was, he was giving me his hand to shake hands and the next thing I know, I'm like on him.

Matthias Schoenaerts

Yeah, I met him. No, there are so many people I would love to meet.

Young Hollywood

What about Ryan Gosling?

Matthias Schoenaerts

Yeah.

Young Hollywood

Cuz you're slightly compared to him all the time.

Matthias Schoenaerts

Yeah, stuff happened.

Young Hollywood

But then I heard your girlfriend said, no, Ryan looks like you.

Matthias Schoenaerts

Yeah, that's a cop out. She's trying to be nice. She's trying to be.

Young Hollywood

So for you, who would be, who would be somebody you'd love to meet?

Marion Cotillard

Uh, I don't know. Maybe Nelson Mandela or something.

Young Hollywood

Not an actor?

Marion Cotillard

Um, yeah, maybe. Yeah, no, there's a lot of actors that I admire. I think Daniel Day Lewis would, yeah, would just freak me out.

Young Hollywood

So, I wanted to play a little American game with you guys, just sort of ask you your favorite things about America. Cuz in the movie, Katy Perry, there's a lot of American music. It's a French film, but there's a lot of great American music, like Bruce Springsteen, Katy Perry makes an appearance. So, favorite American song. Do you have one?

Marion Cotillard

It would be Elvis.

Young Hollywood

How about you?

Matthias Schoenaerts

I don't know. Maybe some some Johnny Cash or or Bruce Springsteen or or even Michael Jackson, I don't know.

Young Hollywood

Favorite American food? Is there one though? Having such great French cuisine.

Marion Cotillard

I love burgers. Oh my God, yeah, I could eat it.

Young Hollywood

With french fries, des frites?

Marion Cotillard

Yeah. And mayonnaise.

Young Hollywood

With mayonnaise. In and Out Burger.

Matthias Schoenaerts

Oh really? You're not supposed to say the name.

Young Hollywood

You can say it.

Matthias Schoenaerts

Okay, I can say it.

Young Hollywood

You're allowed to say whatever you want. I'm totally shake shy. Oh yeah. What about American expression? Like, oh my gosh or you all have a nice day or something?

Matthias Schoenaerts

No, it's not my favorite expression, but I hear it like a hundred times a day. It's, I mean.

Young Hollywood

I'm just saying. And you said it with the accent. Perfectly true. And what about favorite place you've been in America?

Marion Cotillard

Well, I'm sure my favorite place I've, I mean, it's still to discover. I would love to go to Yellowstone. I will, I I actually would love to go to so many places in the US I've never been to.

Young Hollywood

What about you? Where are you taking us?

Matthias Schoenaerts

I don't know. I'd like to go to uh, what's it called? Burning Man.

Young Hollywood

Where is that? So, you guys are teaching me about America. I don't even know where that is.

Matthias Schoenaerts

It's in the west. Never heard of it?

Young Hollywood

No.

Matthias Schoenaerts

Come on. Let's go.

Marion Cotillard

Should we go?

Matthias Schoenaerts

Nobody talks about it.

Young Hollywood

Let's take a road trip. My brother went there. My brother lived in San Francisco and he went there. I think we should take a road trip. Thank you all for coming in.

Marion Cotillard

Thank you.

Young Hollywood

A wonderful film. Congratulations.
