Johnny Whitworth

I actually read uh for Peter Parker originally back in the day that but I had like at the time my hair was like shoulder length and I didn't look anything like Peter Parker.

Young Hollywood

Peter Parker. I'm Oliver Trevana here at the Young Hollywood Studio with this man, Johnny Whitworth. How are ya?

Johnny Whitworth

I'm great. You're alert now.

Young Hollywood

Yes. Now that I it just, yeah it just kicked in. Red Bull. There you go. We got it. Johnny Whitworth, it's kind of a you were born to be a movie star really. It's got it's got that ring to it. Have you been told that before?

Johnny Whitworth

No, I don't.

Young Hollywood

It really does. It is like I was like, Johnny Whitworth. Man, yeah, it's something really no, well, It is your name. It is your name. Cuz that's rare in Hollywood. I've noticed that people lie about their names.

Johnny Whitworth

They do. And ages and stuff like that. They for ages. Yeah. But But I do have uh there's a Whitworth Street here and I I maybe that means something.

Young Hollywood

Whitworth, I think I've drove by that. Can't remember where. It's a street here somewhere. In Beverly Hills. There you go. Of course it is. Johnny Whitworth. That's how streets in Beverly Hills. I love that. The rider's coming. Hell yes. Ghost Rider, Spirit of Vengeance. Uh yeah. I mean, it's a it's not a bad movie is it? Nicolas Cage, small little star there.

Johnny Whitworth

No, it's a it's a comic book.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. It's got all the makings of something awesome. Big. And you're a bad, bad man. And that's the the best part of it. Is it? You enjoy being a bad guy, do you?

Johnny Whitworth

Well, I mean, they're usually more interesting to play.

Young Hollywood

And it's blackout you're playing. Yeah. Ray Carrigan and then you you're blackout turn into blackout.

Johnny Whitworth

Yes. Yeah. Yeah, Ray's a um well he's a bad guy and then He's a bad guy with guns and then blackout is Yeah, then blackout is a a super bad guy with super powers. Which is great. Which is fun. Which is great. Yeah.

Young Hollywood

And you you can decay stuff. Like you just yeah. With a touch, you can turn you into nothing.

Johnny Whitworth

Not much. Yeah. Not much.

Young Hollywood

Not much. And if you could have any superpower in your real life, what would it be?

Johnny Whitworth

Being able to make somebody um crap their pants on command. Like from across the room.

Young Hollywood

You know what? I've never had that answer. It's very smart. Especially if you're trying to win over a girl. Like you're out in a bar and that guy's about to talk to her. Like, boom. Yeah, excuse me, you just crapped your pants. You know what? I talk to that guy. He smells like what's that smell? Oh. How was it filming Ghost Rider? Because did you know that when you got the call? Because it's like you got a phone call from the director?

Johnny Whitworth

Yeah, I did. Uh Mark called me and just said that uh they really would like me to to play this bad guy in Ghost Rider. Which is a nice phone call.

Young Hollywood

And it was based on Yeah, it's a great phone call.

Johnny Whitworth

It was based on uh the blackout character and then they've taken some liberties with it and made him cooler.

Young Hollywood

Were you familiar with the comic books first?

Johnny Whitworth

Yeah, a little bit. My little brother is a uh a fan of Ghost Rider and I was introduced to the character and that world through him, but I was more of uh if I wasn't Darth Vader, I was Batman.

Young Hollywood

Right, right. Cuz I was new kind of new to Ghost Rider. And when I was reading it, I was like, Ray Carrigan turns into blackout. I assumed he might be an alcoholic and was this superhero that just went out, smashed it too much and blacked out.

Johnny Whitworth

Yes. And that's what I thought. It was like that's why Mark's offering it to me.

Young Hollywood

Exactly. How was it uh how was it working with Mr. Cage?

Johnny Whitworth

It was probably one of the best experiences ever working with him like that.

Young Hollywood

I thought you were gonna come out with like didn't like him at all.

Johnny Whitworth

Oh, no. I mean, there's nothing not to like about the guy. I have mad respect for him as a as an as a performer, an actor and just as a person. He's very giving, but he has this uncanny ability to just follow his impulses and not be afraid.

Young Hollywood

Right. You know, and that's the thing that we know about Nicolas that just like he'll go there and do it. But he's so it seems like he's just being crazy, but he's so calculated. He knows what he's doing.

Johnny Whitworth

Uh-huh. You know, he's he just knows he calls it mega acting. Right. When he does that particular kind of style of stuff, which he's he he can do the gambit, but I like to see him do Nick Cage.

Young Hollywood

Was this the first role that you went up for that was a comic book?

Johnny Whitworth

No, I actually read uh for Peter Parker originally back in the day that but I had like at the time my hair was like shoulder length and I didn't look anything like Peter Parker.

Young Hollywood

Peter Parker. Right. I'm sure they could have made it well, you've just you don't really look anything like Blackout.

Johnny Whitworth

Yeah, it's right. But you know, Toby did it and he did he did a good job.

Young Hollywood

Right. Spider-Man 17 maybe? Or however many they go up to. Let's see. Ghost Rider three. Who knows? Do you die?

Johnny Whitworth

You can't tell you got to see the movie.

Young Hollywood

I so tried to subtly get you to spoil it there. And you didn't slip up.

Johnny Whitworth

Well, I didn't because you you you kind of dropped the cookies that you're about to say something like that.

Young Hollywood

Did I? I was I was waiting. You could tell. Well, you know, do you do you die? I don't know. That question's often uh part three. I like done, no. I'm not gonna not gonna do that. Okay. I've got to work on my game. Ghost Rider. Check it out for Johnny Whitworth. Johnny Whitworth. The street's named after him. Thanks for coming in.

Johnny Whitworth
