Young Hollywood

What's up, guys? Nicky Novak here in the Young Hollywood studio with Stoneface Nick Offerman. Just uh just Stone.

Nick Offerman

Hello, Ann Perkins. It's the first time you've said my entire name correctly.

Young Hollywood

Nonsense. We are close friends. Before we started rolling, Nick was giving it to the camera like I've never seen before.

Nick Offerman

I put out. I know how to put out.

Young Hollywood

Do you? I have a Broadway bevel. That's excellent. I like the little the little hip action. Where did you learn these skills?

Nick Offerman

My wife taught me that move. Um I've always tried to date dancers and models. So that I could pick up those techniques.

Young Hollywood

Excellent. And famous actresses. Oh. I heard that you met her actually in during a play in

Nick Offerman

Yeah, we did a play together here in Los Angeles.

Young Hollywood

You had a great opening line. It was like hmm.

Nick Offerman

Oh, yes, it was. I am Nick. And she swooned. She literally swooned and I caught her.

Young Hollywood

Did you give her a little the little bevel? Is that what it was?

Nick Offerman

No. The unbenounced to me, we there were 25 people in this play, and no one uh nobody wanted to talk to her cuz they were all freaked up uh by Will & Grace. They were huge fans. I was living in someone's basement, and I didn't have a TV and I had not seen Will & Grace. So, it was out of ignorance that I approached her and said, "Hey, I'm Nick. You're really funny." And she was like She's like, "Duh." The only guy to talk to me all day.

Young Hollywood

Wow. I'm taking you home, buddy. With the guns blazing. I love it. I'm learning all kinds of moves from you. This is excellent.

Nick Offerman

My tips for prosperity.

Young Hollywood

Well, I have an impersonation for you. Okay. From Casa de mi Padre. It was my favorite line. Although it's probably the only English spoken line in the movie. Mhm. Are you ready?

Nick Offerman

Yes.

Young Hollywood

Wait on it. Do you speak American? That's You look slightly dissatisfied by that.

Nick Offerman

That sounds familiar. Do you speak American? No, señor. No hablo americano. Yo pienso que sí puedes ayudarme. I go, "Una llamada, y diez helicópteros vienen sobre ese cerro y hacen de tu rancho un pedo encendido."

Young Hollywood

Your your tone and enunciation were spot-on.

Nick Offerman

Okay. You might wanna drop the timbre uh seven to eight points. Just imagine you you have two brass benwa balls in your hand. And then yeah, you're trying to juggle those balls.

Young Hollywood

Wow. Why did your eyebrow just go up? It does that. It was Actually, it just did it. Can you do it on queue? It almost looks like you can do it on queue.

Nick Offerman

Oh, I can, but it's funny. People always say uh people not in the know will ask me, "Do you go through your script and choreograph what you're gonna do with your eyebrows?" And I say, "That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard." But I do I do have uh some control over the brows.

Young Hollywood

We can see that. I heard the filming in the desert. It was like 120° or something?

Nick Offerman

Yeah, it was a record setting day of heat.

Young Hollywood

And how'd that go for you?

Nick Offerman

Uh well, nobody fainted. I It was the day that we shot that scene where I slap Will in the face and I say, "Do you speak American?" I I was in a uh shirt and tie and Kevlar vest. So I was warm enough. The movie was so fun to work on that I think everybody was just like, "Man, it's really hot. Anyway, this is really fun."

Young Hollywood

They're having a great time. And what is with you and the government employees? What is that? What is why is why are you so typecast?

Nick Offerman

I don't know. My my grandfather was the mayor of my town my hometown, Minooka, Illinois. My dad has been on the village board. My uncles are on the school board. One of them runs the Lion's Club. Uh one of them has worked as the road commissioner. So, I don't know. I guess we have uh municipal service in our blood.

Young Hollywood

And you're known to be this very masculine, can't imagine why, manly type man. Is there anything that you do in your life that is very feminine that you can reveal to the Young Hollywood audience?

Nick Offerman

Oh, yeah. There's a lot that I do that's super feminine. Um I wear a lot of lipstick. Um lipstick is beautiful. I mean, if you are out there and you haven't tried lipstick, there are so many cute shades available. And it's really flattering. I mean, just I don't know. It just really brightens up your face.

Young Hollywood

And I read somewhere that you said um that you love those moments as an actor where you're not necessarily going for the joke, but you're very you almost just sit in it.

Nick Offerman

I have the great pleasure of working with a lot of people who come from improv and sketch comedy. And so their tendency is to always be ready. And they're so incredibly facile and fast with jokes that I could never compete. So, just by nature, I've learned to remain silent. And then maybe I'll have one thing to say at the end. And you know, you need them and their energy, but then it helps to have a little bottom in your fragrance as well. A base note, if you will.

Young Hollywood

I've learned so much from you today. Thank you so much for coming in.

Nick Offerman

My pleasure. It was a pleasure. Love the film. I love Young Hollywood. I'm glad to be a part of it. Stick around. Set up office here.

Young Hollywood

When I turn 30, will I be disqualified as a member of Young Hollywood?

Nick Offerman

You'll be 29 again, and you'll always be invited.
