I'm Oliver Chalena here at Young Hollywood with the gorgeous, lovely and very bubbly Jord Sparks.
Thanks. I'm good. How are you?
You're a little bundle of joy, aren't you?
I woke up on the right side of the bed today. That's great. Cause on the wrong side, it was still just as bubbly only maybe a little bit meaner.
So obviously American Idol, that's what we know you from. And you're on your Battlefield tour. How's that going?
It's going really, really well. Um, I was just saying earlier that, you know, each city is different. Um, in New York I did the Nokia Theater and it was packed. Like I think we were past fire code and then there are some places where, you know, there are 100 people. So it it definitely varies but I understand because people are, you know, saving up for more important things and like what? What possibly could be more important? Like a car or a house? Food. Food. Medical bills. Um but it's really cool.
I'll still put your bubbly with that.
Oh, thank you.
Any crazy little stories that you can share with us from tour. I'm sure there are by the sounds of it but just one that pops up into your head.
Um the one that I can think of right now is oh God where were we? I can't remember. We were on the East Coast. Um did this theater it was awesome. Tons of people. So I came out after the show. Um there were a few people waiting outside the bus. So I walk outside the bus to sign. And I get to the end and there's this lady standing there. And she's really excited and she's pregnant. And um
Cause she's pregnant she's excited or she's excited cause she's seeing you.
Um both.
Okay. That's good.
And um I also think she was excited because the baby was coming right then. And I was like, oh my gosh, I'm so excited for you. What are you doing? The mom goes, oh, the baby's coming. I'm like, wait, what? I was like, why are you still here? I was going to say that. I'm like, why are you standing here? She was like, yeah, so you're pretty much the baby's first concert and she's please sign my shirt. And so I'm like signing on the stomach and I know the baby's about to be here in like a few hours. And I was I was freaking out. I was like, hurry up and get here. Um but she had said that you know, it's going to be a really cool story to tell that, you know, on the night of her birth that she was I was supposed to go to the Jord Sparks concert and say all the stuff and it was it was really, really nice. I'd never encountered that before.
Um in the Heights, you're about to do that, aren't you? Broadway show. Is that your first musical Broadway stage?
It'll be yeah, it'll be my first Broadway experience. Um I did like community theater and drama club in school and I absolutely loved it. So um I've always wanted to do it but it was never really It was on the agenda for this year. We were like, okay, we're going to focus on the tour and, you know, endorsement deals and different things like that and see what happens and it kind of just fell into my lap. Um but it's a whole different ball game for me to take on. So it'll be doing something familiar as in like the theater and singing. Um but Broadway it's going to be eight shows a week. Um for three months and uh, you know, you're on that stage and there's there's no help. Like you can't put reverb on your voice. You can't do anything like I couldn't sing in the middle of a song and if I messed up go, I'm going to start over. Like I have to make sure that I have the stamina and my voice is okay. So Um we'll see.
No pressure.
Yeah. No pressure at all. It's exciting though. Yeah. No, I'm more excited than anything. Um I've always wanted to do it and it'll actually be life changing for me as well just because it'll be my first time living on my own. Um in New York City of all places. And I'm familiar but living there's going to be, you know, something completely different.
Um if you had a choice uh on your next record to collaborate with anyone, who would it be?
Oh good question. I would love to collaborate with you know what? Honestly, I would love to see what Lady Gaga could write for me. I think it would be really cool to see because her her writing technique is so crazy. She just writes about anything. And it's it's awesome. I've always loved John Mayer's voice. I love like his soulful voice. I'd love to work with him. Um who else? Fergie. I would love to do a duet where she was doing the rapping on it. I love the way she sounds. So I'd love to do something like that. And uh
I don't know if any live tracks in the record. You've probably picked them all now. That's your that's your whole next record. It's all it's all going to be collaborative. That's it. All set up. Loved that. Do I get producer credit or not?
Next time. I probably no. Really? No.
Okay. Well in that case, um I no longer want to talk to Jordan. So we're going to wrap this up. But that was a great. Thanks for coming in.
Thank you. Thank you, guys. That was relatively painless. And my brother just went down.
