Young Hollywood

I'm Oliver Trivino here at the Young Hollywood Studio with the Federly Brothers. How are you? Bobby and Peter. How are you?

The Farrelly Brothers

Good.

Young Hollywood

Thank you for stopping in. Yeah. Very talented men. If you don't know who they are, then frankly, you must be very boring and don't enjoy a good laugh. Massive movie. Something about Mary and Me, Myself, and Irene. And you guys obviously work together so much. Do you have much conflict? You get along all the time?

The Farrelly Brothers

Not all the time, but most of the time. You know, we've always been close. We're a year and a half apart. And uh, we always grew up with the same friends. We shared a bedroom. You know, we get along very well, but you you bump heads every now and then while writing and while editing.

Young Hollywood

Uh-huh. Nothing nothing serious. Great partnership. And how did it all happen? Did both of you, this is always what you wanted to get into?

The Farrelly Brothers

No. Mm-mm. No. Actually, we had tried a few other things first. You know, it wasn't until we're probably about 30 years of age or so before we

The Farrelly Brothers

Yeah. I tried to be a brain surgeon in my 20s and uh, you got to get

Young Hollywood

Did you study for that or did you just go straight in?

The Farrelly Brothers

No, you have to have a degree, I found out. So they closed me down. It was really mid 20s, we started thinking about it, and we'd failed at a few other things and sort of had nothing to lose. So when we went for it, nobody held us back. It wasn't like, "Come on, guys." Don't do, you know, they were like, "Great, try it." Whatever. And it it worked out.

Young Hollywood

And what's been your favorite out of all your your massive hits? Which was been your favorite to work on?

The Farrelly Brothers

You know, I'm going back a lot of years now, but Dumb and Dumber was a lot of fun because it we we it was our first one and we uh we it was real trial by error, you know, for us. We did we were just doing what we thought was funny, and a lot of people were saying, "Uh, it doesn't you know," when it did come out and it worked, it was a big relief.

Young Hollywood

Hilarious. Who haven't you worked with that you'd love to work with?

The Farrelly Brothers

We've worked with some of the great all-time great women. It's unbelievable. Kate Winslet, Halle Berry, Cameron Diaz, Gwyneth, Renée Zellweger, Drew Barrymore. So we've worked with fantastic women. The guy that stands out in my brain is the guy I always wanted to work with that I haven't is uh Tom Hanks. Love Tom Hanks. And he he doesn't do a lot of comedies anymore.

Young Hollywood

Uh-huh.

The Farrelly Brothers

And it breaks my heart. And now you've got anyone who who has a hall pass. I got a hall pass. That week off from marriage. So that would be kind of fun to watch.

The Farrelly Brothers

Watch what? Watch us real in the bay. We had a great time with it. Honestly, it was such a ball. Uh the cast is crazy. I mean, you know, first of all, Owen Wilson, we've known him for years. He's fun he's fun he's easiest guy we've ever worked with. Put it that way. Uh he's like a uh he just couldn't and Jason Sudeikis. Jason Sudeikis, we didn't know much about. He's on Saturday Night Live, but very funny. Definitely, I mean a Will Ferrell type funny. We've always wanted to work with Owen Wilson. We just, you know, we love him. We think he's very funny, very smart. Uh he always plays the same kind of guy, it seems like a really cool guy. And in this movie, he's not that cool. Right. You know, so it was fun to see him in a different role.

The Farrelly Brothers

Do you realize how much easier this is going to make it for me? Having a hall pass partner.

The Farrelly Brothers

Yeah. Tell me about it. It's not just me. No, it's going to be Gary, Hoghead, Flats. They're all coming out with us tonight.

The Farrelly Brothers

You joking. Those guys got hall passes.

The Farrelly Brothers

No, no, no, no, no, no. They just want to watch.

The Farrelly Brothers

Let me log out.

The Farrelly Brothers

Okay, you log out. I'm going to try to do the receptionist.

Young Hollywood

What other projects can we uh look forward to that are coming out?

The Farrelly Brothers

You know, interestingly enough, we we've we've worked on this project, The Three Stooges. Uh we love The Three Stooges. They made us laugh. We used to watch them when we were growing up and uh we wanted to redo them. And we've been working on it for about 10 years and just finally got the green light on it. So that that's going to be our next project.
