Hey this is De'Von Bess, wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins.
Stay tuned to find out who he thinks is going to take the Super Bowl this year. All right De'Von, you've already gotten a compliment on your necklace and your shirt. Quite stylish.
A little bit, a little bit. A special occasion, you know.
You're like a superhero, but in football form. So tell us some of your predictions about the Super Bowl.
Um, it's gonna be a really, really good match up. You know, obviously with the Harbaugh brothers uh being really fierce competitors, you know, great coaches. Um, it's it's gonna be real, real, real physical football game and um, best of luck to the to the to the brothers.
Now what do you listen to when you're on on an iPod when you're like working out or getting ready for a big game?
You can find some some Meek Mill, you can find some Lil Wayne, some Bob Marley, some Mr. Fab, some D-Lo. All sorts of. I'm just just it's everywhere man. I I I like all kind of music.
Are there any guilty pleasures that you have on your iPod?
I got a little Trey Songs on there. You know, I'm just.
That's not a guilty pleasure. I was thinking like Miley Cyrus.
No, no. None of that. Not happening. Not yet at least, you know. I'm open, so who knows.
So you went to University of Hawaii. Did you learn how to surf or do anything fun out there?
I actually uh my last year I kind of opened up and went to the beach and, you know, tried to do the whole surfing thing. Uh I stayed kind of by the shore while everybody else was out, but um I got out there. I took the first step.
At least you can say you did it.
I can say I did it. I I stood up for seven seconds and that was that was about it.
All right, so you live you've lived in Miami for the past five years. Tell us some great restaurants, good clubs, places to go when you're out there.
You would definitely have to uh go to South Beach, uh Prime 112. Um that's definitely one of the spots you gotta hit up. You got the club Cuts Play, you got Bamboo, obviously the Liv, you know. Miami is is a lot of fun.
So I noticed on your Instagram there's a tattoo on your back of your jersey number and your last name.
Right, right, right. A lot of people was, you know, wondering why, you know, why I did that. You know, in case, you know, I went to another team or whatever, but it was kind of the message and um the journey what it took to make the number in, you know, where I'm at today.
Absolutely. I know that you are pretty candid about, you know, a lot of the trouble that you got into as a younger kid and then you just started a foundation.
Absolutely.
So tell us about that.
Running into that trouble kinda inspired me to to create this foundation to not only go into the inner city, but abroad or anywhere and kinda give back, you know, with my experiences. You know, try to um try to make a difference and let them know, you know, you can go this way or that way and um it's all about making making the right choices, surrounding yourself around the right people and uh making a difference.
Seeing as though you've been through a lot and you're trying to help the youth, uh is there anything that you would like to say to someone who's maybe going through the same situation that you've been in?
You know, just keep believing in in your dreams and and hoping. You can do whatever you want to do as long as you put your mind to it. You know, I remember being on the exact opposite side of where I'm at today and like really not not understanding. But now being older now looking back, uh it all happened for a reason. So use your use your experiences wisely and uh try not to make the same mistakes. Surround yourself around good people and um and just keep keep working hard.
Well, thank you so much for coming by. It was great having you. So great talking to you.
Thank you very much.
Thank you for all you're doing for the community.
