Hi, I'm Tom Everett Scott, talking about Parental Guidance. Far out! TTYL, LOL.
We are gonna talk about these things, right? Oh yes, definitely. It's time to get comfortable in this couch. It's really, I'm trying to, I'm trying to play it off like it's like fine, but, you know what? I have so many pillows. You think you would be comfortable with all these pillows? Now, are you feeling good? Are you ready to settle into this one? So we have a little game for you. Sort of speaking of old school versus new school. Want to get your sort of thoughts and your tastes on on certain things. All right, are you ready for this?
I never, but go ahead.
This is part one, 'cause there's two parts to this game. Part one. Phone call or are you more the text guy now?
Oh, boy. One person calls me ever. It's my wife. Everything else is text.
I thought you were gonna say your agent.
Yeah, well, no, you know what? He does too. It's not as often as my wife. But, um, so I would say I'm a text guy. Why why are we still calling it a phone? I hardly ever phone anyone. It really, that is old school, isn't it? Even calling it a phone anymore.
Okay, ACDC music or One Direction?
Oh, ACDC. That's an easy one. That was a softball.
Somehow I had a feeling you Are your kids of age to be like into One Direction? Are they old enough yet?
Um, yeah, my daughter is twelve and I would say she probably doesn't like One Direction. It's probably not cool to like them. Really? I'm guessing.
Levi's or skinny jeans?
What do I wear? I wear Levi's. I don't wear
Have you ever donned a pair of skinny jeans?
I did have to for a photo shoot or something. It was just darn uncomfortable. Yeah.
Okay, Monopoly or Angry Birds?
Wow, I really like both. Um I do. I but Monopoly always winds up in a ends up in a fight with somebody.
Right. Someone's always stealing from the bank. Speaking of games, weren't you like a major poker player for
I like poker.
Do you still play? 'Cause you weren't you won a some sort of a title?
I came in third in a in a Wasn't it a world poker tour event that I came in third. It was very exciting.
Do you have a good poker face?
I have a horrible poker face.
Let's see it.
This is it. This is this is it. I'm doing it and it's if I have good cards, it's like
Okay, part two, this is the rapid fire round, okay? No pressure whatsoever. I'm gonna give you a saying or an abbreviation, you're gonna tell me if it's old school or new school. Okay. Ready?
I'm ready.
Meh.
Old school.
New school. How is that you know like meh? Yeah. Like to like something. Isn't that like super isn't that like back in the beginning of time? Didn't like the guys who wrote the Bible go?
Bitchen.
Old school. Ding ding ding ding ding. Just sayin'.
That's new school.
Yes. TTYL.
That's gotta be new school.
It is. Do you know what it stands for?
Talk to you later. Yeah.
Okay, how's it hanging?
That's old school. Ding ding ding ding ding. And the answer to that is right where you left it.
Far out.
That's gotta be old school.
You are correct.
Thanks.
And here's the gimme. LOL.
Oh, that's new school. Yes. And yet, I feel like it's old school already.
I feel like you're right about that one. Yeah. Uh-huh. I I I think a lot of people just write ha now.
Right. And there's levels of that. Yeah. And what's with all the exclamation points? If I don't add ten exclamation points after something, do you think I hate you?
Well, that's the thing. I think sometimes, you know, the it's lost in translation and you want to make sure somebody knows that you're kidding. And that's what I think emoticons are for, right? Yes. Because sarcasm doesn't translate through text, right?
Right. Which is a reason to make a phone call and keep it old school.
Exactly. I know you're a Boston guy. Yes. And Patriots, Red Sox. All around. That you were encouraging your wife to have an affair with Tom Brady. He's the only guy.
He's the only guy that I would let her be okay with. That's the free pass. I'm sure it's not she's not waiting for me to let her have an affair with Tom Brady. I'm sure that came along. You'd be done.
have you met him before?
No. Wow. Yeah, but if he hears that I'm about letting my wife sleep with him, you know. Not that that's the first time he'd ever heard of it.
Yeah, wouldn't mention that to him. No. Or give him your address. No. That might not go over well.
I'll give him your address. Oh yeah, you could hang with them. Go for it.
So Parental Guidance. Did I see your tweet? Something about Billy Crystal was on Sports Center and and he mentioned you and you were all excited.
This was the most exciting thing that's happened to me yet.
All right. So you're still starstruck by Billy Crystal, even though you just worked with him.
That's right. But I'm also I watch Sports Center every day. Okay. Wow.
And what did he say?
They showed a clip. Yes. I was in the clip and then when they came back, he said that was Marisa Tomei and Tom Everett Scott. And I happened to be watching with my son and my father-in-law at the same time.
And you didn't, did you know he was gonna be on?
I did know he was gonna be on. Not knowing that I would be on or mentioned and it just all came together for me in that moment.
Three generations come together and watch you.
I mean it's greater than the birth of any of my children or my marriage or wedding or whatever you call it.
So how so so working with such legends, working with Bette Midler and working with you're obviously still starstruck. What was the sort of the vibe on set?
Great. Great, because they're both the greatest. They're the greatest like they're show people. They they come, they bring the funny, they bring everything and great stories. They know everybody's name in the crew. They're happy to be where they are and it elevates my performance just being around people like that. It was a blast.
So I know the story is kind of like, you know, they're the grandparents and it's kind of like an old school versus sort of like the new school, like new style of parenting.
That's right. I'm trying to get some time alone with my wife. And we have this opportunity to go away to Hilton Head for a couple days. We just gotta get somebody to watch our three kids, but her parents, they're the only ones available and it's a mess and they screw the whole thing up. You don't tell Mommy about the movie and I don't tell her about the cake. You guys okay? I will be right back. Hi, Ardie, we're back. Did you have fun with the boys? What did you do? You gave them cake? I gave them slivers.
Well, thank you so much for coming in.
My pleasure.
Congrats on the film.
Thank you.
