RJ here, hanging out at the Young Hollywood Studio with Helion Castroneves. You are one of the greatest race car drivers of all time. Wow. I mean, how crazy is that though? Thank you, man. That's how people speak of you now. I appreciate that. Well, they actually talk more about Dancing Champ. I know, right. The most common things people like, oh, I'm sorry, I know you're a race car driver. I don't you don't want to talk about dancing. I'm like, oh, heck no, I want to talk about it. You're kidding. I love it, man. It was hard work. I spent a lot of times there and uh and at the end of the day, it was a lot of fun. Do you still put your dancing shoes on at all when's that? I don't.
I uh Julianne now it's uh she took off doing uh you know, pursuing her acting career. Obviously, my my wife, Adriana, likes to dance salsa. And salsa I didn't have on dancing with the stars. So, I'm like, come on, you got to help me out here. But, I would love to go back dancing. It's it was a lot of fun. Now, let's talk about the racing. So, there's nothing left to prove. I mean, you you've won Indy three times. Like most people just need to win once. But you still keep doing it and every year you're you're still in the mix. Are you ever going to stop? I hope not. I mean, people don't realize that uh you know, it is physical. You got to keep yourself very much.
Explain that to me now, because I know your workout regimen is is pretty intense. But you wouldn't think because you would think the car does the work and it's more your brain and more your, you know, In In oval, it's not so much physical. But in road course, my man, let me tell you, it is the hardest thing because we don't have power steering, we don't have AC, or radio, or or or cup holder. No, we actually 5,000 5,000 lbs of actually force push the car down and actually translate to the steering wheel. And that's what you actually what you're turning. So it's it's uh it's tough. That's why you got to keep yourself in good shape. So do you actually get sore sometimes in the arms from the.
Oh, big time. It's funny uh uh I found the the very similar sport to us it's actually boxing. You know, because we use all the shoulders, you know, the traps, you know, those are the areas that actually when you when you finish a race, you're kind of like, uh I just want to sleep. You know, so it's kind of like that. Now, we talked about Helio the dancer, we talked about Helio the driver. Yeah. Helio the author. Look at that, man. So, the ride of my life. That's right. Let's explain that. What made you say, okay, I'm going to write a book the ride of my life?
I have a my experience maybe it's it's similar to a lot of people that experience that they have there, different problems, but the feeling is probably the same, you know, when I went to when I went to my uh uh tax case, it was very tough. And uh and you like, what's what's going to be the next morning? I don't know what I'm going to be in the next morning. And uh so I actually want to give this experience for people like if this has happened to you, which was happening to me, something good's going to come out of it. We don't know what.
We're trying to ask the Mr or God, you know, why is doing that to us, but it's something personal that you you understand, you know, and and hopefully I'll be able to translate all these feelings and there is some funny moments. There is talking about dancing with the stars as well, the backstage. Which you know it's on the front. Record breaking Indy 500 champion and winner of. I want to make sure people know. I'm very proud of people like uh uh No, I am proud of it because you know, in our in our life sometimes you said, I'll never do that. Right. And so that's why I always say do never say never, because I never thought I would be dancing. Look what happened. I won.
Last thing now, just, you know, a lot of people out there are trying to make it big, whether if they want to be actors, musicians, athletes. So, someone that's a young kid out there that, you know, wants to be a race car driver. I know it's it's a hard question to answer, but what does one even do? How do you even begin? Well, buy my book. There you go. I like that. Oh, to be honest, uh uh simple things is um first which is not only for driving. I think it's for everything in general. You got to love what you do, first of all. You can't think about all the glories, or the money, the rest of all of this and and the records, actually, those things come natural.
You know, you got to remember the dedication, hard work, you know, and and also be be generous. I think uh it pay back, you know, if you're trying if you wish something bad, it's going to come back in double. So try to wish something good that it comes back to you in double.
