Um, I'm about to call you out right now because the last time that we hung out, I don't know if you remember this, but you stole one of our pillows.

Yes. You stole a Young Hollywood pillow.

I'm known for that. I'm known for stealing pillows. I have a whole collection on my bed. I just like to have as many pillows on my bed as possible. I'm not a fan of just having like two head pillows and that's it. Like I want like a whole like a little thing I can just lay in, like lounge around. You know what I'm saying? Like you can never have too many pillows.

No, definitely not. Right. You're not stealing this one though by the way. I know you're eyeing it. You're like, that's gonna be mine. Don't look away, it might be gone when you come back. Um, but so much has happened. I mean, speaking of just like dropping things on the fly and doing things on the fly. You just, you know, surprised all your fans with a mixtape for me and you.

Lady, hit me tonight, cuz my feeling is just so right. As we dance by the moonlight, can't you see, you're my delight. Lady, I just feel like, I won't get you out of my mind. I feel love for the first time.

So, can we talk about that because that was like no warning. But it was amazing because now your fans are just like, oh my god, what were you waiting for.

Exactly. Exactly. So, I mean, I've never put a debut album out. I've always put out, you know, small projects here and there. And uh, this was another one. You know, I just wanted to put it out there for all my fans because I'm, you know, I'm still working on the music, still trying to find that right sound because when I, when I put this first project out, I want it to be amazing. I don't want to just put it out and be like, oh, I don't know. Like, you know what I'm saying? So, I'm working really hard and perfecting it. And Yeah. You know, I just wanted to put something out for the fans and, you know, for the rest of the world as well, so.

Are you kind of like a perfectionist? Like it has to be kind of like, I know you recorded. Yeah. What? 90 songs, I heard you say?

Yeah. I was, I was in LA for like six months and I just recorded as many songs as I could and I have so many incredible records just ready to go like I can just drop, you know, another couple projects right now if I wanted to. I have so many amazing songs, but I just want to make sure that I pick the right ones, you know.

But this one's really cool because I feel like your songs are very usually pop, but now you're kind of mixing in that R and B genre. Is that something that you just love?

Yeah. That's what I, that's my personal taste is, I love R and B and I love country. I'm from Texas, so I have a lot of personal tastes that I love and I want to incorporate them into, you know, a project. And, uh, I'm sure in the next project I'll have some country in there.

Uh, I'm from Texas too. We talked about this last time. So, I'm waiting for you to throw in some of that country.

I mean, like country's gonna be, the country side's gonna be huge. So, I'm excited to, to add that in there. But yeah, it's, it's definitely more soulful than um, you know, a lot of the other projects I've put out. But that's just because that's what I love to listen to and I want to, of course, stay in that pop lane, but I want to incorporate that soul back into there. You know what I'm saying?

Yeah, I mean, you collaborated too with a lot of awesome people on there. Two Chains, Juicy J, Pitbull, obviously is a huge one. Right. Um, and then your single lady with Pitbull. By the way, you worked with Pitbull before. You and I talked about this earlier.

Yeah. Pit's my guy. Pit's my guy. He is the best.

I need to know what is that like working with someone like him because he is just

He is amazing.

incredible. Like what you see on camera, like how you see him is how he is like in behind the camera. Like,

Like he has that much energy in

He's

He's always got energy. He's always rocking the suits. He's always looking sharp. He's always got beautiful ladies around him. So, I mean,

What's been some of the best advice he's given you?

You know, he he he always tells me he likes my my humble attitude, how I'm respectful. Like he said you gotta be that way in this industry, gotta, you know, have respect and not burn any bridges because, you know, on your way down, you know, you're gonna need those same people to bring you back up again. So, you know, you gotta just be cool with that, man.

That's awesome. And then you performed with him on New Year's Eve, right? So, that's like kind of when you released your mixtape. Right. And then how was that? I mean, I assume that experience must have been insane.

It was amazing. We closed the show. Uh, two songs, me and Pit and it was just a great time. And then we went on the yacht afterwards and just chill, like. Just went on the yacht, you know. Like that's the life he lives, Mr. 305, like.

I'm really jealous of your life, by the way. Um, and it's funny cuz your single just called lady, kind of like makes a lot of sense. Totally makes a lot of sense. So, I just

makes a lot of sense. The had to be on the lady record. Like It was a good flip that we did. I don't know your game, but it's magic. I like how it feels when we're dancing. Just let go. And so speaking of like, what is your perfect lady? Like what do you look for in a girl?

Um, I've heard him getting deep now. Yeah, getting deep now. Let's see. Um, I definitely want someone that is extremely down to earth. You know, someone that's real chill. I can't have someone that's like, going crazy all the time. Like uh, someone that, uh, that can cook really well. I would, I would like because I eat a lot of food. I like enchiladas. I like pizza. I like a lot of, a lot of junk food. So, if I get a girl that can whip up some amazing tacos or enchiladas, I'll marry her right there.

Um, so and then what do you kind of like, where do you see yourself going like, you know, because it's interesting how you do kind of mix so many genres and you're kind of like, you know, honing in on what Austin Mahone sound is. What do you sort of want your fans to sort of take away?

I want them to look back and see growth. I want them to be like, wow, you know, he's really worked hard. He's really worked on himself. His voice has changed, his look has changed. Like

Like that's what I, that's what I like to see. You have grown up a lot. Like since the first time I saw you. We hung out first in Austin at South by Southwest. Then we were here in the studio. You're like like backstage. I know. I know. You've like, it's crazy how you've just like grown up and like so fast.

Um, to be a little better at basketball. I love basketball. I like to have fun. But some days are better than others. I wish I could just be on every day, drop like 90 points a game.

Uh, the Spurs, of course. I'm from San Antonio. Come on.
