Vanessa Morgan Reveals Who She'd Date on Riverdale

What is up Young Hollywood? It's Nicole Catch hanging out with Vanessa Morgan. How are you?

I'm great. No, I'm just super excited to be here.

So let's talk about your character because she is about to just blow things up, right?

Not not technically. I mean really like maybe. Yeah. Oh, maybe. Toni Topaz. She's a Southside Southside Serpent.

Wow, there's a lot of tongue twisters for you right now.

There is. There is, yeah. Toni Topaz, Southside Serpent. There we go.

But she's a really special character because she's also bisexual, an open bisexual. So how is it playing a character like that, especially on a show for young adults?

I mean, I'm so, I feel so blessed that I get to play a character like this. I think it's very important in this day and age, especially in 2017. Um, to show all types of love, you know. Yeah. Um, you don't have to love one type of gender. You could fall in love with somebody's personality. And I think, you know, on TV, we're not seeing, we're only seeing like, oh, like lesbian. You know, gay. We're not seeing like, oh, it could be both. Like maybe one month I like a girl and like maybe next year I like a guy like Yeah. I love that and I'm happy to play a character that shows that.

That's amazing. I agree. It's like you fall in love with someone's soul.

Yeah.

Right?

Someone's soul. Exactly. Like your twin flame, whoever that may be, it doesn't matter.

Do you believe in twin flames?

I 100% believe in twin flames. Girl. We just, you just opened a whole new door for me. I know. I believe in

Do you have a third eye twin flames? Yes. Guys, oh my gosh. Okay. Yeah. Um, if you could choose any character for Toni to have a romance with, who would it be and why?

Any of the characters on the show would be so great. Yeah. You know, if we're to say who Vanessa wanted to date, that would be Madeleine because she's one of my best friends in real life, but who would

She's awesome.

Yeah, but who Toni Topaz, I don't know, I'd feel blessed to date any character on the show because everybody's so cool. It's so hard to pick.

That's a good answer. Yeah. I like it. I like it. Can you give us an inside look into what the set's like?

Um, yeah, it's yeah, it's pretty like it's a pretty light vibe. Everybody's joking around. Um, Yeah. the hours are really long, so people are also really focused on work. Um, in the script, of course.

Well, we've also talked to KJ about how this on the show, we're going to see a lot more darkness.

I would say, well, as a darkness, you're going to see a lot of Southside and you're going to see a lot of um, there's going to be a a big war. You know what I mean? There's going to be like rival gangs, they're going to be at it.

And in the comics, your character, she actually wears her hat year round, kind of like Jughead. So I want to know what is something that you personally as Vanessa would like to wear every day?

I don't know what it is. I have a full wardrobe of clothes, but I always wear workout clothes every single day. I wear like my Lululemon's like spandex and a sports bra even though I'm not going to the gym.

That's awesome. But then it looks like you work out a lot, right?

I try to. I definitely try to. Um, it's hard sometimes with like hours on set. You get a bit lazy, but I'm I'm going to get back in it when I get back to work.

There's all this speculation about who shot Fred Andrews. So if you had to put your money on who might it be or if he's still alive. Can you give us any sort of idea?

I mean, honestly, that's such a good question. I I couldn't even guess who that was. Really? Yeah. So, I mean, I I I don't know. I I don't know, but I feel like, you know, obviously the first episode, all your questions will be answered. I just can't say. I just can't say, but watching it as like a viewer, I had no idea who it was.

Oh, really? So how do you think Toni's going to inspire the Riverdale fans?

I think the big part is the bisexual character, I mean, for inspiring people who are, you know, maybe confused with their sexuality.
