Thank you for having me.

Um, I have to ask you, tell us a little bit about your first impression of the transition from The Vampire Diaries to The Originals. What was your thought process with that originally?

It was kind of appealing to me to be able to do um, so much more with that with that character. I was a little intimidated by it, intimidated that it might go for for years and years, because at that time, because it's, you know, which inevitably it did. Yeah. Um, but it's just, it's one of those things that you know, you know it's a massive commitment and and I think my thought process was um I'd like to feed and provide for my family.

Yeah. Well, tell us a little bit about being on set because I would imagine some of the filming gets a little bit intense, but the cast is so fun. Do you have a favorite moment from filming thus far or like a favorite memory from behind the scenes on set?

I really enjoyed um, directing the episode that I just directed in in season 4. Uh, I had many great moments in that I think. I think for me, like actually sitting in the editing suite and seeing that that um, some of what I tried to achieve I actually accomplished was was was a decent feeling. In terms of being a baptism by fire, like you couldn't have any more, I mean it's training wheels for a director to be able to go into his or her own show and direct it there because because the mythology's thoroughly known to you. There's nothing there's not gonna be no surprises. It's just um Yeah, we're spoiled. I mean, it's it's such a it's such a privilege to be able to direct on your own show. It's such a beautiful way to learn that craft.

Right. Well, I was thinking about it earlier. I could never be a vampire because I hate blood, but you come from a line and a family of doctors, right?

That's right.

So maybe that's why you're such a good vampire.

Sure, let's just go with that. I mean, I mean I mean I've never really heard that congruency before. Um, but uh Two things I could never be, doctor, vampire. You know, to to well, you know, I I played a doctor on on television for years and I I I'm pretty queasy, man. There's not there's not a lot I I don't know how they do what they do. Like um, orthopedic surgeons, for example, like they're they're rock stars, man. Those guys are rock stars. Yeah. It takes a really special person. They're so cool. And for some reason like all the doctors that would help us on that show were were all handsome, too, so I was like, get out of here. Yeah. Get get off the set. Like, actors are supposed to be that. Anyway, um, but no, I always felt like they were sort of intimidatingly glorious, those guys, whenever they came around but but I don't think I could withstand uh, the gore and and and the requisite sort of stomach for that thing.
