What does it mean? Mädchen Amick: It's German.

Yes. Mädchen Amick: And it's a term of endearment for like little maiden, pretty little girl.

Oh, I love that. Mädchen Amick: So my parents thought that was cute to name me that since I have German on both sides.

Okay. Mädchen Amick: Now, people in Germany um are quite shocked that my parents named me that because it's like the equivalent of

Or like a sweetie pie's like a name. Mädchen Amick: Yeah.

But you won't tell anybody and we'll just make it be really cool. Mädchen Amick: Well, it's all over the internet now.

So you play Alice Cooper. Mädchen Amick: Yes.

Uh Betty's Betty's mom on the show.

Um and I would have to say, I feel like the parents have a lot of drama compared to the teens, like Mädchen Amick: Yeah.

The most dramatic.

Do you agree? Mädchen Amick: Well, I think also because we're dealing with as many things in the town but then we also have all of the history of going through what these kids are going through now.

Right. Mädchen Amick: So it's sort of like, you know, a double whammy. Mädchen Amick: We've got our skeletons in our closet.

Yes. Mädchen Amick: And then our current drama with each other.

Yeah.

I feel like like of course the entire cast, it's amazing.

But I feel like when the parents are on, it's just like constant like it gets kicked up a notch. Mädchen Amick: Oh, it does. Mädchen Amick: Yeah.

And you guys are all just so amazing at what you do.

So it's definite fun.

Are they good parents? Mädchen Amick: Well, that's another question I want to ask, like, what's going on? Mädchen Amick: I feel like you guys have good intentions, but sometimes you make me question that. Mädchen Amick: I mean, I think out of all the parents, Alice is the best parent.

Well, you're biased. Mädchen Amick: For sure. Mädchen Amick: Um, and well, yeah, I don't know. Mädchen Amick: I think a lot of people are dealing with some parental uh issues with in the Red or or something.

Okay. Mädchen Amick: I think they're working through a lot of like demons and um history with their own parents.

Yeah.

Yeah.

So you play Betty's mom. Mädchen Amick: Yes.

Did you and Lili do anything fun on set to like bond and get the chemistry? Mädchen Amick: You know, the very first moment that we met, it was at the um table read table. Mädchen Amick: And we're all like and we're sitting across from each other and I noticed Lili had the exact same tattoo that I have.

Really? Mädchen Amick: Different arm but still the exact same place. Mädchen Amick: So we went over and talked to her about it after and so that sort of bonded us like, wow, you have the exact same tattoo by the same tattoo artist which is really weird.

Are you serious?

Oh my gosh, that's so meant to be. Mädchen Amick: Yeah.

What does the tattoo mean? Mädchen Amick: So for me, it's a Sagittarius arrow. Mädchen Amick: Because I'm a Sagittarius.

Oh god, she's opening another door.

I'm turning 29 on December 12th. Mädchen Amick: Wow.

What are you going to do for your 29th? Mädchen Amick: Um, well, I got to go out big because it's the year before 30. Mädchen Amick: And everything goes downhill after 30.

So Mädchen Amick: Yeah.

Definitely. Mädchen Amick: Yeah, it's going to be a big bash.

So you and Lili bonded on the tattoo.

Did so is Lili's do you know if it's because of her sign as well or she just had a connection? Mädchen Amick: No, she's very open about it. Mädchen Amick: So hers is um surviving depression.

Okay.

Wow. Mädchen Amick: So hers is like that symbolic you pull the arrow back to release it forward.

I love that. Mädchen Amick: And she's a warrior and we're both big mental health advocates.

Yeah.

I love that.

We know that Mama Cooper throughout the show so far has been kind of iffy about like the Bughead situation.

Betty and Jughead.

Do you think she's going to come around?

She seems to go back and forth like Mädchen Amick: Yeah.

One moment, she really likes him and then the next moment she's, you know, she immediately judges him. Mädchen Amick: Yeah. Mädchen Amick: And I think that's her own serpent past.

Okay. Mädchen Amick: I think that that's she understands why she's fallen for Jughead. Mädchen Amick: She knows that he's a good kid. Mädchen Amick: But he also represents the South side and the demons in her closet.

Okay.

So, fair enough.

So, are you a Bughead fan? Mädchen Amick: Absolutely.

You are.

Is that your number one couple on the show? Mädchen Amick: Yes. Mädchen Amick: Yes, for sure. Mädchen Amick: Yeah.

They're so cute. Mädchen Amick: They are really cute. Mädchen Amick: And they get into lots of good adventure shenanigans and yeah. Mädchen Amick: No, it's good.

So, because you said you're a Sagittarius, I'm interested.

Do you think Alice is a what sign do you think she is? Mädchen Amick: Taurus.

Why? Mädchen Amick: Stubborn, set in her ways, fiery. Mädchen Amick: Um, patient for most, but when you push her too far, the bull rages.

Yeah.

That's a really good answer. Mädchen Amick: My mom is a Taurus, so I there's a lot, you know, I I base a little bit of Alice Cooper on my mom.
