I love it. This is this is the most fun, like, colorful overstimulating, like, set I've ever been to, but in a good way.

A lot of incredible buzz about this show. Um, a lot of it generated by none other than Selena Gomez, aka your executive producer. What's it like to take on a project like this with someone like her backing it up? I mean, it's big, right?

It was a lot of, uh, responsibility, I guess, because she bought the rights to this book, uh, almost 10 years ago. So, she's been trying to get this made into either a series or some sort of production for a long time now.

This show, uh, the story, not exactly lighthearted. It's a it's some pretty serious stuff. Why do you think it's important to bring this story to light?

Yeah, I think we cover, like, a lot of, um, issues that are really relevant in the show, and I feel like a lot of a lot of series and a lot of films have often that they that often target, like, teenage life or young adult issues often do it in a way that just feels like kind of unrealistic or it romanticizes it, or, you know, they'll use things as a plot device. We're not condescending than either, we're not like talking down. It's, you know, it's not. It's. Yeah. It's just real.

Katherine, for you. I mean, if you guys haven't guessed, she's not exactly from here. She's You're from Perth in Australia, and you had kind of a whirlwind getting here, actually, and getting the role. What was that like?

Yeah. I did my test for Toma Caffe, like, my test for network over Skype, and then two days later I got the call, um, which was like, cool, you've got the job, but bad news, we've got to try and get you on a one in ten days without having ever done anything. And so, like, I got a call, I think it was like Friday morning, saying you're leaving on Saturday at 3:00 a. m.

Did you just hop on a plane for an hour? I I I'm like a 45-minute flight away. It was really difficult. You should have I mean, Katherine's complaining, you know, she's

Yeah. I mean, I know, right? Seriously. Sadly. I I felt really bad when we were like, I could on the weekends I could fly home and do things, and then I I would leave and be like, I'm so sorry, Katherine. I I I feel bad that you can't go home.

She was always welcome to go to L. A. , right?

I was I to be honest, like, I I think on the weekends, like, I was a bit of a laymo, but I I I kinda decked out my apartment, not really, but I I the first thing I did is I bought a bed, and I bought a piano, and so, like, most of my weekends consisted of.

You got a piano?

Not like a really fancy one because, like, I'm not like that, but like I bought one for

Okay. But what what what was that? This. Well, you can't do this in Australia because we don't have like dollar bills, it's only like.

This is true. You have very heavy coins. It's really irritating. There's still some in my wallet.

Well, because this show centers on high school, and you guys are actually not that far out of high school. I mean, I feel like a lot of us never we never really leave high school in a lot of ways, right? So, I wanted to play a little game called High School Me. And it's a fill in the blank game. I don't have a thing to do, but but Arcade Fire. I'd say.

Well, I appreciate that, but The Narwhals are sadly no more. But we've we've taken up an R. I. P. , The Narwhals. We've taken up a new identity, though, which, uh, which will be kind of out there soon.

Yeah. Uh, high school me had a crush on I Is that no crushes on anybody?

My first celebrity crush was Orlando Bloom as Legolas. I was six years old. Yeah. And I was like, you. Currently has a crush on Legolas. Yeah. Never goes away. Yeah. Let's not. Yeah. Let's be real.

It's kind of hard. I didn't even go to I did like a I can't even keep track of my high school years really, because it was kind of a, uh.

Was there an onset tutor you liked or some someone?

Definitely not. Definitely not an onset tutor. Um, I I this is so I'm so boring, I can't I can't really answer this question.

You guys were so serious and and so focused in high school. You didn't have any crushes? Academics, school. All the way. It's my life. All the way. What was I doing? Yeah. Yeah. Uh, all right. Well, high school me favorite show was

Actually, I went through a really big skins phase in my final year. Yeah.

No. I had I think I was probably in high school by the time I binged Breaking Bad. So, I probably have to go with Breaking Bad.

And the last one, high school me on a Friday night would be Dylan's like studying or watching Breaking Bad.

Yep. Studying. No, I'm Oh, my gosh. Adventuring. Actually,

Adventuring?

Yeah. I Yeah. I uh, and I kind of still do this, but I would like after school because I went to a school in the city, and then I would like bus home. And then that night, I would just like I was really into writing music and like I thought it a little bit differently and whatever. But I would like get the bus from my house, and then go to the city and like just walk around, like, sort of the club of scene and just watch people. Um, which is probably not advisable for 17-year-olds, like, But you know, like, I I was I it wasn't super, like, crazy or anything. Like, you shouldn't lurk outside of clubs and just creep.

Okay. Well, let me let me let me like clarify.

I wasn't lurking, but it was more like I live in Perth, Western Australia. So, it's not crazy hardcore anything too bad, but I would just roam around and like sit in the cultural center and like we have a huge screen, and I would just sit and watch like movies on that and watch people and I'm such a weirdo. Um, yeah. That was that was my Friday night. Like, I just liked watching people and like walking around and feeling like I was part of the nightlife but not, so.
