Hey guys, it's Tracy. I am in the Young Hollywood studio and I'm back with my my date. Yes, my date, Sofia Carson.
Hi guys. I'm so happy to be here.
I Well, we were talking about we were actually talking on Twitter and we were like, "We need to have a date again here."
Yes, we had so much fun last time. And I'm so glad we're back. Last time we literally could not stop crying of laughing.
Okay. Next stop. Am I doing it right? Uh please prepare for takeoff. Please prepare for takeoff. And your seatbelts something is flight attendant? My first, I'm obsessing over this outfit. Can we talk about this?
Thank you. Thank you very much. I didn't don't wear colors very often. I don't usually wear color, but I'm wearing This is the first time I wear a color like this and I'm I'm glad you like it.
I love it. On the shoes by the way. I love the shoes, too. These shoes are fun. Yeah, please talk about the shoes. They're not but we don't have to tell anyone that. It's okay. Um, okay, but so much I feel like a lot has happened since we were here last. So, back to beautiful. You just released a new song.
Yes.
It is everything. I'm not kidding, like it is perfection. Your voice is incredible in it.
Thank you so much.
The song, the mean what is the message that you want fans to take away from?
You know, um, that's what I love so much about this song. When I was a little girl dreaming of if one day I was lucky enough to be able to you know, share my music with the world, I always wanted to be able to say something. And this song is called back to beautiful. It's all about you know, being beautiful in our hearts and in our minds and being compassionate and accepting and loving first and foremost. And that's such an important message today, tomorrow, yesterday, always. And I feel very lucky that I get to to sing this song and share that message.
get back to beautiful. I feel like it's just it is something that so many people out there can relate to, because you know, everybody wants to feel beautiful but it's also about just on the inside and kind of how how do what's advice to girls or people anyone watching sort of how do you kind of keep that confidence?
I think it's it's it kind of it's a realization that it doesn't matter what you're wearing if you have makeup on or not. As long as you feel beautiful on the inside and you love yourself and you accept yourself, who you are, who you love, where you come from. I think that comes first and foremost. And that's what is really truly beautiful.
And then, I mean, you're working on your album right now, right?
Yes, I am.
So, are there any other like sneak peeks or hints that we can look forward to. When is it coming out? We were like dying already.
I can't give you a date. Um, you know, I've I've had the most incredible experience in the studio. It's it's a really surreal experience to see kind of songs come to life and to be creating an album is something I've always dreamt of. So, I'm really excited. Um you guys can imagine there'll be a lot of songs that have really awesome rhythmic beats, 'cause I love dancing. And also a lot of ballads, 'cause I love ballads.
I was going to say. Every time I hear your song, I just want to like get up and just like
Thank you.
It's just so like uh, it's just such a good feeling. And then the video was insane, too.
It was directed by Emile Nava, who's an incredible incredible music video director. Like he works with Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris, his last video, Rihanna. And he's a British director and he had this really special vision um for the song because the song you know, there's like frustration, there's angst in the song and there's also kind of a sense of hope. And we wanted to encapsulate all of that in the video, but in a really kind of different way. It's
Yeah, I was going to say like it's a crazy light show and like it just gets crazy.
So his vision was to kind of tell the story through lasers and the lasers come in at the epic drop in the music and it just kind of brings the frustration and all of the emotions of that moment to life.
Love the video so much. I'm so happy. And and your your outfits in the video, too, are like out of control. Like you got to choose the outfit? Or kind of?
Yes. So, um, I worked with an incredible, incredible stylist Jason Rembert, who we worked together to pick out the outfits and I loved all of them so much. Both dresses and then that black outfit towards the end where I was like, I that's where I felt like the most like empowered almost like the most like
Yeah, exactly.
But I I loved it. I felt like it was it was very much a depiction of who of who I am, which which is really important to me.
And then I mean, you've been singing and acting like your whole life and you've been so lucky 'cause all of your roles, especially on Disney, you you gotten to sing and dance. And That's like everything you've got.
Yes. Exactly.
So, is that something like you prefer one over the other? Or you kind of you know, both doing.
Every time like before I go to sleep, I'm like, "Okay, Sofia, if you had to choose one." And it really I genuinely can't. There I love them both for so many different reasons and um, I just feel really lucky that I get to step into a character's shoes and tell a story that way or um through song.
And Descendants 2?
Descendants 2. You hinted that you were going to start shooting it the last time you were here. Yes. And I literally a week afterwards, I left to Vancouver to shoot. We had the most incredible, incredible time shooting it and we're really, really excited. You know, I love who Evie becomes in this movie and her fashion is amazing. So, we're all very excited.
Okay, so we have a couple fan questions really quick on Twitter. My fave. Um, we have a ton for you.
Awesome.
So, this is from uh @Cuti La, sorry if I pronounce it It's okay. I always do this. Julie, uh @Cuti La la of it can. Uh, what is your What is your advice for people who don't feel beautiful at all? Uh, What is your advice for people who don't feel beautiful at all? LaVatica maybe. There we go.
You know, I think we all have our moments when we don't feel beautiful. And I think we have to look inside of ourselves and surround ourselves with people who love us for who we are. You know, our differences, what makes us unique is what makes us beautiful. And to have a beautiful heart is is I think first and foremost.
Um, okay, so this is from @SofiaCarson_JLS. Uh, will there be any collaborations on your album?
Possibly. Ooh, maybe. Wink. Maybe.
We know there's going to be surprises because that's what you're for.
Yes. Well, this this song, Back to Beautiful is a collaboration with um a DJ Alan Walker, who actually is one of the few people in the world who has a billion streams on Spotify. He's like incredible, incredible. And I'm I'm going on tour with him in the next few months to perform. So, but there might be something else coming out possibly.
The dream collaboration of yours?
Ed Sheeran. I would love to collab with Ed Sheeran.
Oh, he's incredible. He's just
Yes. Just perfection.
Yes. Um, okay, and last question from @SofiaCUpdates. What was your favorite outfit on the video back to beautiful?
Oh, well I touched on the black one. I love the black outfit, but I also really loved the dress when I'm in like the room full of mirrors. It's like a shorter dress and it has like It's like full of sparkle. It was a Tommy Hilfiger dress and I just like fell madly in love with it and I really, really love that dress.
Did you get to keep anything?
The leather pants were mine. Oh, okay. The leather pants were mine and I wear them all the time. The leather pants and boots are mine. That's it.
Um, okay, so of course, we can't end this without doing a little game because
Of course.
you know, that's that's just what we do here and we are on lively right now. Yes. So, we're going to also answer some questions, 'cause I know a ton of people are dying to ask you their questions on there. So, are you ready for those?
I'm ready.
Okay. So, this game is called the No Thumbs Challenge. This is like serious tape right here. Holy moly.
