From How to Get Away with Murder, it's Liza Weil, hanging out with me on the couch. And you're gonna teach me how to get away with murder, right?
Yeah, it's it's a work in progress. You're learning yourself as you go along.
Well, congratulations on all the success of the show. People are like rabid fans of this show, and you guys keep them guessing, I gotta say.
Yeah, it never goes the way that we think it's gonna go, even as cast members, we're constantly trying to track what's going on and remember all the plot twists. So it's nice to to know that it's uh, translating.
Yeah. A very talented cast as well.
Yeah.
Um, you get to work with Viola Davis. I know. Who, I mean, not to not to intimidate you, she's like the best.
Yeah, she's only like the best actress in Hollywood right now.
No pressure, no pressure. I know. What's it like being able to act opposite such a talented cast?
It's pretty dreamy. I mean, it it it does really feel like a very special group of people, and everybody is really enormously talented, and Viola certainly sets the tone, and uh, you have to bring your A-game with Viola.
Yeah. A lot of a lot of people know you, though, from Gilmore Girls. You gotta say, like you kinda grew up on that show.
I know, my entire 20s was was spent on that show. Yeah.
And a lot of us grew up with you. Um, with the Netflix revival, what what was that like, getting together with everybody?
It was a lot of things. It was a lot of complicated feelings. I mean, it was super bizarre, but we were we all, I think, felt really lucky that it was something that we got to revisit. And then once we all came together, it felt very special. It's a cool thing to be a part of.
Um, you've really grown up in this business. Your family was in a comedy troop? Is that right?
Yes, uh, my father was part of a comedy troop that toured around uh, Europe when I was really young, and then when they came to perform in the states, he met my mother and sort of she came on board and uh, and I traveled with them when I was very young. It was a really lovely way to to start your your uh, life. Yeah. As a child, to to be surrounded by, you know, sort of eccentric, colorful people.
What's your favorite memory from that period of your life?
Um, I remember, you know, I would be able to go to to shows with my parents that were quite late, um, and they would um, let me pick out somebody in the audience to sit with, and they'd give me a a Coca-Cola, and I just would get to watch them do their act, and uh, that's what I remember.
Was it like kid-friendly stuff? Oh, okay, even better.
No. It was a little questionable. It was
Were they wondering why there was this kid like in the program?
It was a different time. Okay. Um, but it was so nice to be so young and and to be able to feel like I was actually with them and experiencing it with them. And I think that that definitely had an influence in in why I wanted to do what I do, that that exposure to it, so young.
Uh, tell us where we are with How to Get Away with Murder. We know we we left on a on a pretty big cliffhanger. Uh, because there was a murder. And how Bonnie fits in to everything.
Yeah, it's uh
How's Bonnie gonna fix this, is what I'm asking.
I know. It's kind of an amazing thing that Bonnie is actually has to face the the task of fixing it. She she is very much sort of asked to be Annalise in this situation. So it's um, it's a lot of pressure. There's a lot of obstacles and challenges and we're right in the thick of it.
Out of everyone on the cast, who could get away with murder? You think?
Um, I, out of everyone I'm gonna go Wes Gibbons. I'm gonna go Alfred Enoch.
Okay. Putting you on blast. Putting you on blast.
Yeah, he's also not on on social media, so I feel like I can say that.
Oh, okay, yeah. No, but he'll probably
He's a safe place. No. No. It'll just be on the internet for everybody to see.
Yeah. Yeah, and the internet's forever, no big deal.
He'll sort of disarm everybody with his uh, his cherubic smile, and and everybody will let him go. I think that's my that's my theory.
Out of the Gilmore Girls cast, who could get away with murder?
Um I'm gonna say Emily Gilmore. She could probably get away with murder. She She's got resources, she can hire a good lawyer. Yeah. She could. Yeah.
Oh, oh, definitely. Yeah. How do you get away from your busy life? Like what's your ideal day off?
Um, I'm a big reader. So I'm and I kind of I my I'm either a rabid reader or I'm not reading at all. So uh, and I'm also a mom, so, you know, my my
You're busy.
downtime still translates into drop-offs and pickups, and carpool.
You have a minivan?
No, I don't. I have a I have a midsize SUV.
Okay. All right. So it's a little bit cooler than
That's like that's like the, you know, the minivan of the of the 2000s, I think. Yeah. Yeah.
Nice. You gotta keep those kids alive, so I think you need a little bit of a bigger vehicle.
I mean, that's that's an option. Yes. Keeping them alive. Yeah, it's the number one thing to do. So that's what I'm trying to do. Yeah, in my off time, I'm I'm keeping my daughter alive.
That's uh, you know, that's a very noble.
Thank you.
noble hobby to have, noble objective. Yeah. Anything you want to tell How to Get Away with Murder fans? I know they're they are a passionate set.
Yes. I mean, I would just say, you know, hold on. It's it's gonna get worse before it gets better. All of the feelings. You don't wanna miss any of it.
