Hey guys, welcome to Young Hollywood.
Chad Michael Murray is in the house. I guess I should say penthouse today. We're in the penthouse. We are at the top of the world here in Los Angeles.
It's not, it's not a bad view outside.
No, not at all. Well, we have to talk about your book, because we should be calling you author Chad Michael Murray now. How does that sound?
It sounds really good. Yeah, I mean, I've been 18 years now. Wow. I've been in this industry. Crazy, right? Yeah, you blink and there it is. I've I've done a lot in my life and and this is one of those things career-wise. I'm most proud of.
Well, how did this all start? Because I'm sure writing a book, that's not an easy thing to do. When did this idea kind of start to develop and then how did you actually make it happen? Because that's a whole second thing, right? You have an idea, but then to actually do it, that's that's pretty amazing.
Back in 2001, I think it was. I was on my way from Wilmington, North Carolina to Duke, to shoot one of my last scenes that I shot for Dawson's Creek. Got it. And I fell asleep. It was early morning, early morning drive and I slept in the back of the van. And they had this dream that played out to me and it was so vivid and and it really stuck with me. So I wrote it down. When I decided what it was going to be, I wanted it to be for the fans that had brought me so much love throughout the years. They are really going to appreciate the moral compass that has a lot of Lucas involved and the storyline and and the romantic aspects of it. Uh, the thriller mentality is great for everybody.
Do you have another child now?
Mhm.
Congratulations.
Thank you. It's kind of a full house. Oh my, yeah, it's it's getting that way and it's funny because we're going, do we want number three? Do we go there? Uh, so we got the boy and the girl. Yep. And she's just cute as a button and it's just uh, you know, eating me up my heart. Uh.
Well, and this will be your first holiday season with two, right? So the holidays are coming up. Do you guys have any special traditions or family plans?
You know, we are, well, I can't say it on air because my son could technically watch this. We're starting a new tradition, but I can't even talk about it. It's a secret.
Is it a Christmas present?
Well, this is what it is. So, we've created a mailbox from Santa. So we built it and the mailbox sits outside their
Is there fake snow on it?
bedroom door. Yeah, of course there's fake snow on it. That you're not going to go half you know. And so we put uh uh mailbox outside and then, you know, Christmas night, Santa's going to come and and do his thing, but he will be right by their bedroom. And he will leave something in there. So the first thing in the morning when they get up, they have to check the mailbox.
But I know you're into music as well, right? You like to listen to music from time to time. Some country music.
I'm pretty sure everybody does at some point. but yeah, I'm I'm a country guy. I am. I can't help it. I I it's to me there's just something so pure and and calm about it that I love the storytelling. I it always gets me in a good mood.
Do you have a favorite artist or a favorite voice that you're just like loving right now?
Holy cow. Um, that would take me a really long time. I don't know so many. Especially cuz there's so much new talent that's coming up and they found a way to really kind of cross pollinate between other genres in music and bring them all together. I mean, Florida Georgia Line kind of broke down a lot of barriers by bringing Nelly in, by bringing, you know, the Backstreet Boys and all these other. And the sound is so cool when you mix it up. It really is. It really is. You know, I got a good uh one of my good friends, he's like a family friend now, is Michael Ray. He's got a great sound. his new stuff. I've gotten a little sneak peek of it. It's going to sound great. It's not out yet, but it's going to be great. I I could I could go on all day.
I love it. Okay, so there's literally something for everybody in this book. I am so excited to read it. Let's let's toss out with a with a close-up of you holding the book in your face, because that's just the best way to end the interview possible.
