Hello. Hey, what's going on? Uh, I'm in the middle of an interview. Can I call you back?
No, no, no, please. I I I have a question for you. Oh, okay. We're let's good. Can you play a game? I want I want you to play this game. It's uh you and your friend Adam, uh, your My friend your partner. stretch. He's got your friend.
What's up, Young Hollywood? We out here in the studio with strangers, you know? He just did my job for me, so I don't have to speak. I'm always sating with you. I wonder why I had him from the truth cuz I can always tell so I can't help from you. So strangers, you know? Hello. The the name, the name, the name. I know a lot of strangers. Where where where would you know a lot of strangers? Like, how'd you come up with this and why where where would you know a lot of strangers?
I think it has a lot to do with with really any um, avenue of of media. You know, you you see these people in magazines, you see them on TV, you see them um, in all these places, and you read about them and you hear about them, but, you know, that that is not an indication of what a person really is. Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And so that that's really all that, you know, performers and and artists are strangers, you know. So, we just stole the name. I mean, we didn't steal it. It wasn't anybody else's.
I've never heard it before. I've you guys, to me you guys create. I I relate to it because it's like I do know a lot of strangers. Like on Facebook, I have so many friends. They're not really my friends, but I know them. You know what I mean? They're like strangers to me.
Exactly. Yeah, it's like a whole new generation. You can be some friends with everybody, social media, and not even meet people. Yeah, you know what? That's kinda weird, but Yeah, exactly. It actually just happened yesterday. Someone hit me up on Snapchat and, uh, was like, "Hey, like, uh, heard you're playing at Coachella. Let's hang out." And I'm like, "Cool. Uh, how'd you get my Snapchat?" Like, I I I don't like I don't like He's like, "You know me." But you know me. I don't blast out, like, my personal accounts at all. And so, like, I was really confused and girl was like, "Yeah, like we we met last year." Like, no we didn't. Like, I I've never I've never met her before. And and so it's just it's just kind of it's kinda strange how like, you know, in this day and age, you can know somebody on the internet, like and have a complete relationship with them on the internet. I have so many internet friends that like I've never even met in real life that like all all that we have is is like, you know, Instagram direct messages or like Snapchats, you know. It's just it's odd that to have that relationship with people. Because then you finally meet them and it's like you already know them. I guess that's as close as I'll ever get to online dating.
These guys just got done playing at Coachella, week one. Literally just got off stage. Like, ran here. We're in between the week the weekends of Coachella right now. It's a good time to get like a balance between the weekends, right? Because you guys were in you guys were in They're talking about like like the here and now right now. Right here right now for you guys. Because you guys live here in Los Angeles. So it's not There's a lot of bands that don't live in Los Angeles that will flood come into Los Angeles 'cause they're playing at Coachella.
Oh, yeah, like in between the weekends. A lot a lot of the people that I that I was uh meeting uh that were performing as well. I was like, you know, like, you guys you guys are doing great. I I hope you guys are sticking around for the weekend, you know. We can all kick it. And they're like, "Yeah, man, uh, we're actually getting on a flight to Vancouver right now." Or somewhere, you know. And it's like, damn. Some some people just have to, you know, fly down here for one day and then and then get out of here. We have the luxury of pretty much experiencing the whole thing. And out for three weeks. Yeah. If you listen to Gray's voice, it's a little raspy right now. It's very dusty and it's very windy. So unless you have something like this, like you really Oh, thank you. Uh, Noodle for this one. This is tight. We're going to be rocking this.
Did you wear that You wore those instead of the uh bandana?
Yeah. Oh, something. Yeah, you know, you need a face mask when you're when you're going around, um, 'cause I mean, your your voice is just going to be rocked. And on top of it, like, you're at a music festival, so you're going to be talking pretty loud, too.
There's a story how you guys I just I I read this somewhere. You guys met at Coachella.
Yeah, we met at Coachella.
Break down what happened. How did you guys meet at Coachella?
Well, you tell your part. I'll tell mine. Okay. I had been trying to sneak into Coachella for like a solid That's awful. five or six hours. I'd gotten kicked out a few times like trying to get out uh trying to get in. And eventually, I was in the artist parking lot. Every car that was leaving, I would just be like, "Yo, like I know that it's Coachella, but if you're actually leaving, like, could I just take your band?" And finally, a studio drummer from uh was like, "Yeah, dude, I'm I'm driving back to LA right now. Like, you you can totally take my ticket." And I'm like, "Oh my God, yes, thank you." So he gave me his pass. As I was like getting the pass from him, one of the uh senior vice presidents from AEG Live was like right there. And so he uh he almost didn't let me in. And then he's like, "You know what? Like, this kid seems like he's doing it for the right reasons." And he uh Yeah, he he let me he let me go through. I finally got into Coachella. And I'm like, what do I want to do? I want to go see Two Door Cinema Club. So I'm like, like walking over. And all of a sudden, I see like this giant group of girls. And I'm like, "Word. I'm going to assimilate into that." So, he grabbed And it turns out Adam was with them. This crazy kid comes running up. I think he had his phone out Snapchatting the event or videoing it. Oh, yeah. We have a video of the first like minute of us meeting. I documented literally everything. Hold on. And say Young Hollywood. Young Hollywood. He can do that. For fun. I'm a toy. Pick me up and put me down again. The song used. Mhm. I I dig the first the first few sentences here. Fine, Let's see yeah, it's it's not fine. It's fine. Fun. Is it fun? It is fun. Why did I find that on lyrics. com that says fine? Oh my God. Oh, it's really messed up. There's there's one that's awful. Why would they do that to? No, there is one website that uh So the first word is not fine, it's fun. Yeah, but no, this is actually hilarious. So like, every every like major uh lyric website has it right, but there's this one website that we found that has it so horribly wrong. It is embarrassing how bad it is. Um, what's that create mine? It says like instead of note it's Norchi. Norchi, that's what this one's from. Yeah. Okay, yeah. These guys. We don't want to throw them under the bus, but They really messed up that first word. Fun, I'm I am a toy. Mhm. Take me out. No. You see that, right? Put me down again. Oh my God, I love it.
Well, explain Tell us what it is.
So we're what It's fun. I'm a toy. Pick me up and put me down again.
Wow. Really prolific stuff, guys. I mean, So you feel like you're a toy?
Not now, no. I did.
You did. Yeah, before you wrote the song. But after you. Did you ever feel like a plastic bag floating to the wind?
Oh, every day. Every day. Wow. Oh. Yeah. Well, I was trying to say like, you're not always a plastic bag. Sometimes you're a firework, you know, and you gotta let those colors burst. That's the thing about being an artist is like even heartbreak is is like a beautiful thing because you get to turn it into something like that. Um,
You were telling me earlier, you're emotionally confused and you're physically Not confused. Well, you're No. It's volatile. Volatile. Volatile.
Well, I actually I think the terminology I used was that, uh, I'm a little but, yeah, trying to trying to curb that one out. But you've starred that into your song writing. I think you have to be sensitive to be a good songwriter. I think it's I think it's, you know, part of it is exposing yourself and being vulnerable.
Okay, so let's play this is a game we'll play this game to to end the interview here. Um, it's since you guys' name is stranger you you go get her on the phone real quick here. He's gotta get her on the phone. Since your guys' name is Stranger you Stranger you know. Uh, I want to see I'm on the battery. I'm in a tunnel.
Okay, you're in a tunnel.

I didn't think about that.
I knew I was going to mess this up.
One of the three.
Thank you.
You only have you know.
That was terrible.
It's it's okay, buddy.

And now I'm really mad because I'm thinking that you also took my car on a joy ride out of spite.
One lie.
You you didn't take my car on a joy ride out of spite.
You took my car on a joy ride just just because you could.
Huh?
Is that the lie?

It just wasn't out of spite.
You didn't I love you and I hate you.
