Multitalented instrumentalist. Vegan? Maybe vegan makes it more talented.
Well, vegetarian, I'm vegetarian. Yeah.
Uh, the uh, the lead singer on the song "Sound of Your Heart" which is all over. And songwriter. All over the radio right now. How's it going, man?
It's going really well. I'm just uh, I'm enjoying my time right now. I've been I've been seeing a lot of new places. Doing some promo trips with the new song and chatting with you today.
It's amazing to watch an artist just come down and strip it down and just come in, you know, piano and just share his heart.
Thank you. Yeah, I mean that's how I got started in music and it's um, it's important to me when I'm writing a song that, you know, the song works as just basic, just either a guitar and vocal or a piano and vocal. Because sometimes, you know, a song can get lost in production.
Correct.
Um, so yeah, it's nice to be able to just break it down.
You showed me heaven. You rang the bells. I played with matches. It hurt like hell.
On his Instagram feed right now. And uh, that's him looking. Those are These are the same pants, though. Those aren't new.
Different pants. That was just in Cleveland last, last week on uh, on Friday. I had a show there. And
You're not made for a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
I wasn't, but that was the same day that they were inducting Cheap Trick and Steve Miller and NWA.
Wow.
Uh, yeah, so I we only had like two hours to to go there, but uh, I didn't get to see all of it, but I did get to see some pretty cool exhibits.
Oh, wow.
That is my grandmother. That's during Christmas and that is shortly after she gave me this ring. Oh. Back home in so well, Creston Valley, British Columbia.
Creston Valley, British Columbia. Small town. Small town. Uh, what were you? What was going on? This is and that's definitely a throwback because I when I look for this one I went way down in the feed.
Yeah, that was it it looks like it could be like a psychedelic trip or something, but literally it was like my my girlfriend was babysitting and we went to the kid's place and those were their play glasses. Okay.
Whoa.
Cox Media Group. I was in Tampa. I was doing a promo run uh, right before the holidays. In at one of the state Actually both stations the this group of elves were there. I guess they were doing a little promo run, so this was the second time I saw them. I'm like, you girls are just following me around. You can follow me around all day if you want.
moon rise and catching her breath in silence.
And when you perform live, do you always have this He's got this really cool ring on it.
Yeah, you know what? Recently I I have. Um, this is actually my grandfather, my late grandfather's ring. He was such a big influence to me, uh, growing up. He played guitar. He taught me how to play guitar. He's one of the first people that um, I heard singing as a little kid. He used to sing at all of our Christmases and He was amazing. So I always now I always wear this ring 'cause it reminds me of him.
Baby, I'm in love with you. Oh, I'm missing the sound of your heartbeat.
You went to the Royal Academy, is that how you say it? The Royal Academy?
Royal Conservatory.
Royal Conservatory. And what were you studying when you were there?
Well, it basically it's a it's a course, a musical course, uh, classical music. Um, I wasn't actually at an institution. It was through through a certified music teacher. So I'd go to piano lessons and it was just learning classical music, learning theory, ear training. Basically all the all the basics to music and I I'm very thankful I got into that at a young age because it is, um, it's it's pretty intense.
And how long have you been studying your hair? How long have you been practicing that?
You know what? As a kid I wanted a mohawk. Yeah. It's Look at this guy's hair. It's taken a while. I'm I'm sure if you if you went through my Instagram feed, there's there's some like old throwbacks. I've had some crazy styles. I had the old Bieber hair before Bieber. Um, but uh, this this one works. It's maintainable.
Baby, I'm in love with you. Oh, I'm missing the sound of your heartbeat.
Have you had that epic like just insane sound system where you got you can use all the tricks? Have you had that yet?
Yeah, well, I mean I produce as well, so I'm
live on a live performance.
Live, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I um usually I play with my band and um, you know, we'll play to electric tracks as well as, you know, I have a drummer, a guitar player, bass player, and singers. Um, but usually by that point the song structure and everything's all figured out where you can lose it is in the production stage where you're kind of like trying different sounds. Like, oh, this whistle sounds awesome. We gotta put it in the song. 'Cause there's so much with technology these days. Music-wise, for producers, it's it's unlimited.
But baby, I'm coming. Baby, I'm coming. Tell me now, baby, I'll come running.
Oh, wow. This was hilarious. We'll blow it up, too, so they can really see what
The backstory of this We were house-sitting. Okay. Uh, and our friends just got this blow-up um, whatever that is, a flamingo, white dove.
Dove.
And um, peace. And I was like, I bet you I can stand on this. And I tried standing on it. I'm like, oh, I'm up. I'm up. And my foot goes right through it. And we're like, oh my God, we and they just bought it 'cause they saw Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian. So like, oh, we need them. Um, I think I saw that picture. Yeah. So anyways, that's my foot through the swan. And uh, we tried to patch it up.
You look super healthy. Oh, here we go. Another healthy looking.
Sure. I didn't choose these. They did. Oh, yeah. That was me doing yoga on Canada Day. Um, and I made a a smart little joke in the comment section saying someone asked me to bring a six-pack to the party and
That's your pack. That's your six-pack.
Yes. That's it. That's it.
We made it through. That's it. Went through his entire Instagram feed.
Baby, I'm in love with you. Oh, I'm missing the sound of your heartbeat.
Are you in the studio right now?
Yes. Yes. So, when I'm not doing the promo stuff I've been I've been in the studio yesterday. I was in the studio yesterday. Um, a couple weeks ago I was in Colorado working with Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic. Super talented songwriter and producer. And Noz Len Canella who's Ryan's right-hand guy. Work with him. Um, might be working with Zedd coming up soon. So I'm fingers crossed. Zedd if you're watching, let's let's work.
