Yesterday was Monday. Yes. Boom! Yeah. I didn't. I didn't. I got scared. This is my protection. This was my protection cuz you went like that and I went, block! You have to go like this. I'm a fighter. How do you do this? Because that's how you block someone.
No! Oh, oh, oh, yeah. Oh. That's how you do this?
I'm Oliver Garbina here on the Young Hollywood sofa with this man, Juanpa Zurita. Juanpa Zurita.
Hello. Hola.
Yeah, you're close. It's Juanpa Zurita. Can you say it? You don't even say that. Zurita. That that thing that you just did. It's a rude. Yeah. Let's just keep the rude. Oh, there's no rude. Zurita. It's enough. You're literally everywhere. Every part of social media you're you're just you're just on it. What what what happened?
Yeah. I don't know. I just I first started in Vine. Right, 2013. Yeah, and I just thought it was like an app to create video for yourself, like an like an editor. Right. And I'm just always with a lot of energy. I was like that kid in the classroom who wouldn't like shut up every time.
Too much sugar.
Yeah, yeah, too much sugar. But every day, like that's my like like hands running inside of me. So, Vine was perfect just to put out everything my brain was thinking. And suddenly I started growing. Yeah, going crazy. And after that, you know, you you get better, you get funnier. You get more creative. Right, right. So, I just started doing stuff in other platforms. I I started doing stuff in YouTube. Right. Instagram, Snapchat. And people start like really liking it because I gave them different uh content in every single platform.
And what's what's changed since the very first video that you posted on Vine? What's changed? I just don't know, just
Yeah.
Till now? Till now for you, I mean, obviously, your following, but
Everything.
Is it more pressure to come up with content because you've you've got more followers now?
Well, uh, Okay. So first, my life. Right, right. Right now, I'm supposed to be studying marketing. Okay. In in a Mexican college. Okay. But now now my my plans literally changed. Right. And of course, uh,
Of course you wanna be there, though. Uh? You would love to be in the college studying.
Oh, of course. But but I love this more. Right. Because this is what I really like love, you know, just creating, making people laugh. Yeah.
You skipped the college, it's great. Look, Jerome's calling. We're gonna talk about Jerome. Do you want to do you want to pick up Jerome now?
Yeah. He's he's actually Facetime. Yeah. Hey, Jerome, you're in Young Hollywood right now. Are you doing YouTube right now? Yeah. Literally, like this second. I actually like like the interview's actually happening now, young man. You should time your calls better. Yeah, yeah, yeah, man. Come on. Come on. Just a second, Jerome. Have some respect for the media. Yeah, yeah. Come on, Jerome. Come on, please. This is our moment. This is my moment. It's my It's about me and Juanpa. Yeah, yeah. Why? Why'd you burst in? Just burst in. Yeah. Sorry, Jerome. Rude. Rude Frenchman. You're a rude Frenchman. In 10 minutes, I'll call you because I'm gonna talk about you. Okay, you're gonna cry. You're gonna be very happy. Okay. He's gonna cry. Okay, besos. Bye-bye. Love you. Love you too.
That's what happens when you're popular. Calls just come in. Come in. You need to take them. Do you have a team of people that are helping you produce this stuff?
Yeah. No.
It's really just you?
Yeah.
That's mental. Where'd you find the time?
I don't go to college. So, that is true. This is true. Yeah. But it was it was a really hard decision, you know, because like social media started to to like transform into a really important thing in my life. And I literally just ended high school and I and I had to choose either I go big time with this or just let it fade away. And also my parents, you know, because they saw the success. They saw how how how happy I was. They saw how how much love I put into this, time. And that I was like building kind of a career and also, you know, making money out of it. Right. So, at the end, my parents really supported me. Like at the beginning, they were like, oh my God, you're not gonna start a career. Are you crazy? What are you talking about? Right, right.
I saw your video with Miss Colombia, the makeup video on YouTube. I quite like that one. She's she's easy on the eyes. Right.
Yeah, yeah. I thought you were gonna bring her as a gift for me. She's not coming. Okay, just checking. Yeah. Just checking.
You're nominated for five MTV Millennial Awards.
Yeah, yeah. It's pretty big. Yeah, five. That is huge. That is huge. Yeah, so I'm nominated to two challenges. To the Snapchatter of the year. To the Digital Icon of the year. And Best Actor of the year.
And, uh, you uh, you have the skincare thing that you're doing as well, right?
Yeah. That was absolutely crazy. So, I'm thinking of a YouTube idea. Okay. I walk into my sister and she's doing this strange thing on her face.
Washing it.
Yeah, but like like she has like this weird thing and like she's like literally like taking the skin off. Like, what are you doing? Okay. You should try it. So, I went, wait, we should film this because like it's it's a it's a really fun product. It's dynamic. It's like the audience is gonna enjoy it. Right. So, I do it. People love it. And at the end, I just go, hey, uh the brand is Evolue. Search her on Instagram. Just put Juanpa wants to work with you and put dolphins randomly. So, I go into her Instagram and all the brand's Instagram is full of dolphins in every comment, every single comment. Two days later, the brand post a post a picture of a dolphin with my head saying, we give up. We want to work with Juanpa. Really funny. I'm like, what? Really? It's like
The power of
The power that you have. This is happening. And I'm here in LA filming the movie and the actual owner of the brand contacts my manager, who who's begging her, "Hi, brother." And she calls me to the store and now she wants to work with me and she she's gonna bring the product to Mexico. So, it's crazy. It's absolutely crazy. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. It's amazing.
Making big moves.
Yeah, but you know, it's it's it's organic, which that's that's a good thing. Right. Don't push it. If it happens, it's gonna happen, you know?
Let's talk about your acting work because you just wrapped on a movie. Yeah. Yes. Like yesterday?
Yeah. Yesterday.
Yesterday was Monday.
Yesterday was Monday. Yes. Boom! Yeah. I didn't. I didn't. I got scared. This is my protection. This was my protection cuz you went like that and I went, block! You have to go like this. I'm a fighter. How do you do this? Because that's how you block someone.
Is this a millennial thing? That's how you block someone. Go again, go again. Go go do it again. Three, two, one.
No! You punch me.
Okay, I punch you?
Yeah. Okay. See, look. It's a block. It's a natural. No, no. Now she thinks we're being violent. She's scared. Yeah. Come here. It's time. Oh, no. Oh, no. Oh, it's okay. Oh, god, it's sneezing in my eye. Good, Giorgio. Good, Giorgio. Good, Giorgio. Giorgio. It's fine.
Yeah, so the question is the movie. The movie. Yesterday you wrapped. Yeah. So there was a movie, right? I'm not wrong. Okay. Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
No, it's actually a Vine now.
You're kidding. Long Vine.
Long Vine. No, so this is my first uh, like actual movie. I didn't go to to acting school or whatever. Like I anything at all. No, no. So, just making these videos, I guess you you you kind of get good at it, but just naturally, like I I don't even know like the basics, you know? Right, right, right. Logan Paul calls me and he goes, hey, I'm I'm making this movie and I want you to be my foreign exchange brother. Which is really funny just that put in there. And uh basically, what I'm doing is I'm his brother. And the plane uh, the the pilots of the plane are dead. And I'm a virgin. Listen to this. And all I care about is having
As virgins do.
Yeah, because the plane is gonna crash and I cannot die a virgin. Right. Right. Imagine that.
That feeling doesn't stop even when you've not a virgin, just so you know. I'm still the same now. Still the same as I was before I lost it. Still exactly the same. Is it in the movie, though? It is in the movie? Huh? It's in the movie or it's not in the movie? What? You? You're not? I'm not. No. Okay. You want to be. I can pull strings. Okay, we'll chat afterwards. We'll chat afterwards. I couldn't play virgin, wouldn't be believed. No. Let's talk about Jerome. So, you and Jerome are doing this big thing this summer.
Yeah. So, Jerome and I go way back. We met. He was he was the one who found me because I have content in English and I have content in Spanish. So, I first I began with Spanish part because it's first language. And Jerome followed me and he called me and another two friends, Ricks and Huca, who are other influencers from Mexico, told us, you should fly to New York and come collab with me.
And this was when we had like uh uh 100,000 and Vine was just like starting and we were like nervous. Like my parents were, you're gonna travel to another country to meet a guy you do not know.
Yeah, yeah. Sounds like a Liam Neeson movie.
Yeah. Yeah, so I went there and he kind of like opened my mind to see how huge this was gonna be. And and it actually turned out that way. He's a really smart guy. And now what we wanna do, like entertaining is is fun. I love making people laugh. But now we've gotten to the point where we have so much power, we have so much numbers that we can do something good, you know? Like use use all this
Oh, the power.
Power, yeah, to do something good. So, this summer. It's like a trailer, right? This summer. Um this summer, Jerome and Juanpa. Juanpa. We are gonna uh we we're gonna do some good stuff for the world.
Okay. Excited to see that.

Good one. That would be interesting. That'd be interesting just to give you here you do the presidential speech. Yeah. Um if you if you could describe yourself in one word, what word would it be?
Crazy. Crazy. We are wrapping this up. No. Oh, no. It's cuz you tricked me. You stopped like that. That's how we do it. Because you can trick the audience, you know? They're gonna go, oh. Let me get myself sorted, right? Ready? Three, two, one. Oh! Boom! That's dangerous. Sorry. Yeah, I forgot about the rain. Yeah, sorry. Oh, All right. Giorgio. Juanpa Zurita. It's a wrap, I guess.
