Young Hollywood

I'm not as cool as you. I can't do lever and the sound.

Iliza Shlesinger

It's not about being cool. It's just about embracing the environment and being relaxed.

Young Hollywood

Why was this ever a pose? Why was this ever like a sexual pose? I thought I well, I'm not even commenting. Why was this? I'm Oliver Trevena, joined on the young Hollywood sofa by Eliza Shlesinger. How are you? It's good to see you again.

Iliza Shlesinger

It's wonderful to see you. I remember exactly what I wore last time because I thought, "I'll go bull and do a strong lip and a crop top." And this year, I was like, "Maybe just no strong lip."

Young Hollywood

Right. Right. I remember exactly what you wore because it's on my wall. The picture of us. So Yeah. Yeah. I don't look great that day. You look great. I look great today. You look great. I might like look at you on social media sometimes. You've been hitting it hard. You go big. You're always doing it.

Iliza Shlesinger

talking about you're like, "I don't work out." I believe Instagram is a curation of your life. It's like a museum of your life. Nobody's going to Instagram them in basketball shorts like with Cheetos like just watching Shark Tank for like 5 hours. But I mean, you might. But in general, I go to the gym because I don't have a day job.

Young Hollywood

Right. And it's just it's just become a routine. But But you are enjoying it. You love It's just you love it.

Iliza Shlesinger

I do enjoying it. I do enjoy it and I just met a personal trainer the other day. She was like, "Can I just show you some things? I won't charge you." Apparently, I've been doing squats and lunges wrong my whole life. And so now I have a personal trainer because the fact that I've gotten in this good a shape by doing like a made-up workout for the last 20 years is really just a testament to my genetics and nothing else.

Young Hollywood

Right. So we're going to go to the real gym. That's pretty impressive. Yeah. It's pretty impressive. So at the moment, you've just been doing the gym. No Pilatte's, no yoga, no LA.

Iliza Shlesinger

Oh, I have no time for classes. I'm a rebel. I don't follow.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. She follows her own rules.

Iliza Shlesinger

I do my own routine on the floor and take a lot of pictures.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. You do do that. There's one lovely one. Oh. I love it.

Iliza Shlesinger

Thank you. Hopefully, there's more than one lovely one. I mean, there was a few. It's also good lighting. I just want to give the girls a tip. If you're going to take a gym picture, I'll just stand up. I don't care. Always do it to the side. Look how and if you put your butt out, look at how much better this looks if I'm like sucking my arms in than like this. I mean, this doesn't look bad but like

Young Hollywood

Please don't make this the interview. Like how amazing is that. So just turn, find some good lighting. Don't be a dummy. Do you have like something that you do do before you like get up on stage for the comedy routines and stuff like that because it's it must be nerve-wracking.

Iliza Shlesinger

The live comedy shows, I don't get nervous. I've done just so many. I only have one ritual. I have to drink a sugar-free Red Bull. I don't drink the whole thing but it's more just about having it. And if I have a bottled water, I have to pour out a little bit. It's not like for my homies. It's just a thing that I started doing and then somewhere in my head, I'm like, "Your career will crash if you don't."

Young Hollywood

Oh no what. So that is a that's a big superstition, yeah. Oh no what?

Iliza Shlesinger

Yeah. Just those two things but I have gone on stage out of like a dead like flu sleep. They've been like, "You're on." I'm like, "And then just get up and go." Oh, wow. All condition, full, crying, heartbreak. "What am I doing tonight?" Like, just get into it. Cuz within 5 minutes, you'll feel better.

Young Hollywood

You do a lot. You're busy.

Iliza Shlesinger

I am busy. Separation anxiety. That's the show that we're promoting.

Young Hollywood

Yeah, I know. Okay. I've had it since you left. Separation anxiety. I love that. You like that. Relationship game shows. I love those.

Iliza Shlesinger

Any kind of relationship, it can be your best friend. It can be your wife. It can be your brother. It's just people that are in a relationship. Cuz people when they think relationship, they think like, "I'm going to date four dudes. Hopefully, one of them doesn't die before the end of the night."

Young Hollywood

No. No, I know what you cuz yeah. Yeah. You have your mom on there. You can have your friend on there. You can have your roommate on there. Your Anybody on there.

Iliza Shlesinger

Anyone on there. You and your friend, you and your your girlfriend, you and your cousin. You and your girlfriend sign up for uh what you think is an online like a like a web show. Like a game show on a web show. Okay. And they're like, "Come on our web show, on our garbage web show. You can win $2,500. And we'll fly you to Atlanta." And most people are like, "Oh cool, free trip. It's going to be great." Okay. And they fly to Atlanta and when you get there, we say, "Actually, Oliver, um we're going to have you and Georgie play separately." I know you thought you're going to play together, but we're going to So, Georgie, you stay here. You're going to play Oliver, you want to come hang out in the green room. Okay. So, you go into the green room and when you open the door, the lights come up. I'm on a giant sound stage. Look at my arms. I work out. With a 100 people all and I'm like, "Oliver, welcome to Separation Anxiety."

Young Hollywood

That's so naughty. They're tricking people.

Iliza Shlesinger

Georgie's in the other room. She thinks she's playing a crappy internet game show for $2,500. What she doesn't know is that every question she answers is worth a 100 times more than she thinks and she could possibly win a quarter of a million dollars.

Young Hollywood

Oh my god. You have to pick the categories that we quiz her on and she has no idea. That's a lot of money. I'm so I'm still going back to the amount that you win. Yeah. That's aggressive.

Iliza Shlesinger

It's so much money and there's so much at stake and she's totally in control and you're in the other room like, "Oh my god, stop playing." And she's like, "Whatever. It's only $1,000. Let's keep going."

Young Hollywood

Oh, that's totally going to ruin relationships.

Iliza Shlesinger

Uh yeah, but we make sure everybody leaves with something because as much as America loves to see people like eat it on reality shows, we make sure that you leave happy. And you get to be on TV. So you're probably pretty stunned throughout the whole thing. The best part of a game show is that you get to connect with people and find out their story. You want to see people like, "We need it for a house. We need it for our kids." Like, it's touching. And then the best part is at the end, not getting to help them at all and I just get to stay silent and mess with them. Cuz up until like halfway through the show, I'm your friend. I'm your lovable host and then I just go ice cold, which is a specialty of mine.

Young Hollywood

Has there been a favorite moment so far?

Iliza Shlesinger

We had somebody who was a serviceman and he was in the military for years and just seeing how much it meant to him, like that kind of money. You know, I don't think we pay teachers or military enough and just seeing like how much it meant in his emotional reaction. And of course, knowing that it's someone that defended our country, just gives you even more gives you warm fuzz.

Young Hollywood

Right. Ah. What's been your favorite game show ever?

Iliza Shlesinger

Jeopardy. If in a green room, I'll turn that on cuz it's super fun and I'm very good at it. Not like Rosie Perez, white men can't jump good at it, but like good at it to where people are like, "You're really smart." I'm like, "I just know French history." It comes in handy not at all.

Young Hollywood

I love it. Would that that is your go-to in in subjects, is it, French history?

Iliza Shlesinger

I just No, but I'll know things. Okay. I'll know things.

Young Hollywood

She knows it. Well, clearly, we've learned that this interview. Yeah. That's it. It's it's separation and the truth Separation anxiety. I'll do this. I'll make this easier for everyone else. Uh I'm just going to thanks. I'll give you a clip that you can use. Uh it's a really Yeah, get that right before you do it because it looks a bit off. Look more relaxed. You look too tense, that's it. I can't look

Iliza Shlesinger

You can't be relaxed in this. You can. Look at me.

Young Hollywood

No, that's too relaxed. You're taking it to the extreme. Can you not? I'm not as cool as you. I can't do lever and the sound.

Iliza Shlesinger

It's not about being cool. It's just about embracing the environment and being relaxed. And I am wearing a felt belt. I am wearing a felt belt. over my skin. My dog does not like it when I get up on her. Look at her. She's like, "So uncomfortable."

Young Hollywood

Why was this ever a pose? Why was this ever like a sexual pose? I thought I well, I'm not even commenting. Why was this?

Iliza Shlesinger

Separation Anxiety is my game show. I'm sorry, on TBS. And I like it. And it's a fun game show because it's not like any other game show. You're separating people that know each other really well and you're grilling them basically on how well they know each other. And they get a chance to win really cool prizes. I think there's something fun about watching people win like a trip to Mexico.

Iliza Shlesinger

And it's fun and there's a and we're funny and it doesn't take yourself too seriously and I have like all different lengths of fake hair. Watch it.
