Wouldn't you rather have your limbs be all arms or all legs?
All arms.
Why?
I like to, you know, have a leg up on my competition by not having legs. He-hey guys, Audrey here in the Young Hollywood studio. He's not a vampire, he's not a cop, but he's played them on TV. The criminally handsome Chris Wood.
What an introduction.
I know. I practiced that. Did you like it?
I loved it. Oh, good.
Oh, good. That was amazing. I'm gonna watch that one back. Just that
Just that part.
Just that part. I know. It's gonna be your self-esteem boost. You don't need coffee anymore. You just need a little self-esteem boost. The show, Containment. That's the one. on CW. I thought, uh, just for, you know,
Oh, yeah, please.
For for our purposes, yeah, we should probably Here you go. Little little bit of hand sanitizer before we get this going. You actually have a background in musical theater, right?
Thanks, so much. I think it
You do.
Yes, a background in there's the background of it. Um, you big music fan? Musical. Yeah. Musical, yes.
Is there any band or musician you're you're really stoked on right now?
Oh, my gosh. Yeah, I love I love music. I And I'm very diverse in what I what I dig. I'm into, uh, I'm sort of a classical music nerd.
What a mix.
But then But then I'll put on The Black Keys, and then I'll like go hang out with Arctic Monkeys, and then I'll get Zeppelin on, and then I'll come back to Frank Sinatra, and then the day is over. But I still don't know who I am musically. you know. And I still don't know who I am.
That sounds complicated.
It is. Some days you wake up and you're, you know, you're with James Taylor, and then you go to bed and you're hanging with Beyoncé because you got to.
Mhm.
Because because you gotta yawn. Because all the single ladies, you know?
Because all the single ladies. Put your hands up.
Mhm.
Your co-star George Young, very funny, by the way. He's so hilarious.
Hilarious.
He said that if he had to be quarantined with anyone, he would be quarantined with a 3D cut out of you. A life-size cardboard cutout of Chris Wood.
May I mean, just just to have, because because I don't think he'd wanna hang out with me, so I can get the cardboard cutout ready or 3D print it.
So George had the option to actually have me. Yes. And he chose a 3D cutout of you.
Yes. That worries me because it means he's thinking there are other things that George wants to get involved with with the 3D cutout that don't involve the actual me.
Right. Or he was afraid that you wouldn't want to hang out with him.
That's That's probably the greater reality. I think that was probably.
Is that I Really? What is it about George that wouldn't make you not want to hang out with him in close quarters? Please do tell. Because I remember you said you would want to be with Superman.
That's probably the greater reality. Right. Which to me was like a like a much more logical answer. But then yeah. I mean, yeah, right? Why not?
Yeah. Why wouldn't you want the Man of Steel with you? Right. Well, unless the virus outbreak is like a Kryptonite.
Yeah. Kryptonite derivative.
Mhm.
Exactly. Kryptonite derivative. Exactly. There's I hear there's a massive problem with Kryptonite derivative outbreaks right now.
Well, would you care to change your answer now that you know that George George Yeah, George wants to hang out with a 3D cutout of you.
I think, sure. I'll change my answer. I would like to have a 3D cutout of Chris Wood with me.
He's so humble too, you guys. You're also on this little show called The Vampire Diaries. Yes. And you actually reunited a really famous kissing scene with with a guy named Ian Somerhalder. Somer Something. I don't know. It's pretty much Somerhalder. Unpronounceable. Is he a good kisser?
Yeah, oh, yeah.
Oh. Okay. That was quick. I thought you were gonna be like, "I've had better."
No, no, he's good. He's good. You know, he's he's got a nice pout. Uh, I would say it wasn't too wet, but it was in the rain.
Okay. So by default, it was kind of
Yeah, exactly. It was wet. Um, but, uh, you know, it was it was I didn't not enjoy it. You know?
No, okay. All right. All right. So if you had the chance to kiss. Sorry, I'm getting into I'm getting into the pillow therapy, I swear.
I know. I know. Just please tell me all of your
Tell us to the Tell us to the pillow. Tell us to the pillow.
Yeah, it's a therapy pillow. Cheaper than actual therapy, please.
I know. It's the best the best kind of therapy. It really is. After working on this show, are you more of a germaphobe? Actually, first of all, explain the premise of this because it's about a virus outbreak.
It is. Yeah. Yeah, so Containment's about a a deadly outbreak in Atlanta, Georgia. And in order to keep the disease from spreading throughout the country and ultimately the world, they lock down part of the city on quarantine.
Okay. So if you're inside this sort of boundary, you're just kind of left. So it's like about this size of the studio and then a little bit bigger. Okay. Oh, good. Like about 5 miles. Because I get claus- Oh, my gosh. This is like 4 miles, so it's like one more mile from this room. So just slightly bigger than the Young Hollywood studio.
Just one more couch length.
Yes. Exactly.
Basically. Exactly.
You guys actually worked with experts who deal with this stuff and and do have to deal with how to contain that. Was there anything that you learned that you were surprised by?
You know, it was interesting. The talking to some law enforcement officers. There's there's protocol for everything, you know. There's there's what what you do in this crisis situation or, you know, simple things like traffic stops. They they're taught very specifically how to approach cars and all that. But with something like a disease outbreak, it's not It's not a checklist. It's not like
They're just gonna wing it. They kind of have to. Which that's scary.
Exactly. Oh. Well, that that's terrifying. Exactly.
Did you start thinking of your action plan or like, what Okay. So so give it to us. What's your action plan?
I'd come to the Young Hollywood suite.
Okay. As would I.
Right. We'd hoard weapons.
Oh, weapons. Okay. What kind of weapons would we?
You never know. You never know. Spears probably primarily.
Spears? Okay. Okay. I'll grab my hunting bow.
Hunting bow. Is essential. And we'd probably get some canned goods.
Okay. Yeah. All right. We need can opener. Don't forget that. That would be big. I love you you assumed that you were a part of my my containment survival plan.
I know. I was. I wasn't before. I mean, that was just if you're coming to the Young Hollywood studio.
Right. I mean, I love that. What else Who else is gonna be here? Duh. I also have that GPS device in your car, Chris. I mean that as well.
Right. That's right. Forgot.
What's it like being in The CW world? Is it weird to be on one show and then kind of just hop on over to another Julie Plec project?
Well, you know, for starters my initials being C. W. , I I have always lived in The C. W. world.
You really have. So to work on a network. Have it be your
That's named after you. It's it's named after me.
It's actually named after you. Yes. Yes. Uh, little I didn't know it C. W. stood for. Now I know.
Right. And they didn't wanna, you know, have me on a show right away when it was The C. W. They wanted to wait.
Of course. You know, so they The best for later. Not last, but mid later.
Yeah. Mid. Yeah. Not last, we hope. At least not the end. Totally.
Do you get to Do you get to work with a lot of the same people then?
Um, I mean, Julie, obviously, I've now gotten to work with her sort of back-to-back, which is which is great. She's fantastic to work for and with. Um, and, you know, the The C. W. world is there taking some risks right now. They're doing some some stuff that's sort of out there and and different. Containment definitely fits into that. It's not I wouldn't compare it to, you know, uh, what's the fair is show on The CW? Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. I wouldn't say that we're of the same.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. less musical numbers. Less comedy. More horror-filled death. Less music. Oh, okay. Good. I don't feel like there's enough horror-filled death on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
We do We do break into song too, I forgot to mention.
Oh. That part. There is a musical episode.
Musical Containment, yes.
And you are also passionate about a a certain cause, um, and you you put a lot of this out on your social media. You're very candid about your passion for mental health causes. Where does that come from? Why are you so passionate about this?
Um, I, you know, through some experiences in my life, I've found that, uh, you know, mental health is something that we don't talk enough about. And, um, I'm sort of moving myself as far as I can toward a a campaign where we're sort of anti-stigma and and pro-conversation because it's something that we're too scared to, you know, to chat about. And it's something that faces, you know, one in five Americans.
Um, statistically have a a mental health problem. And I think statistically the the numbers of people who actually seek help are so low. And part of that's because they're scared to talk about it. So it's important to me to be one of the voices, um, that try to connect with my the people who, um, you know, watch the shows that I work on too to to see that I'm willing to talk about it. Yeah. Hopefully it's inspiring.
Yeah. No. That's really that's really cool. I think that's actually really brave of you to put it out there and and be open about that stuff because like you said, we don't talk about this kind of stuff. I I wanted to play a little game with you called, "Would you rather." Chris, would you rather? Chris, would you rather?
Yes. Great. Um, so would you rather have your limbs be all arms or all legs?
All arms.
Why?
Because I would make like a monkey and just be more productive. Peel bananas with my feet. This is This is Oh, I didn't think about that. You know? Um, and I like to, you know, have a leg up on my competition by not having legs. Zing.
I love it. It makes very little sense, but it sounds Oh, so good. It sounds good. I like the pun. Okay. You're only allowed to do one celebratory dance move for the rest of your life. Would you rather hit the quan or do the nay nay?
Ooh. Do you know Do you know how to hit the quan? The nay nay. Yeah. It's just easier. The nay nay. It's just it's smooth. It flows. Totally. Totally. Hit the quan, you gotta like it's like very involved. It's physical. It could be a workout.
It is physical. It could be a workout. Would you rather save the life of someone you would never meet or have an actual working lightsaber? I had a lot of time last night.
I'd rather have a lightsaber. I know, right? I'm so but I yeah. I know what's Cuz then I can save more people with the lightsaber. You know what I'm saying?
There you go. That's how you can rationalize it to yourself.
Yeah, and I would meet them with the lightsaber.
You would with the
No, I wouldn't hit them with the lightsaber. They would meet the lightsaber. Yes. They would meet the light Yeah. Well, lightsaber. This is Sarah. Sarah.
Would you rather be itchy or sticky for the rest of your life?
Oh, my gosh. Those are both easily the worst feelings.
I know. What's better What's better?
Uh, yeah, I think itchy. I'd rather be itchy cuz the sticky it's like. Really though? I don't I don't neither. How about neither? How about we just say that you you didn't offer option C. That's when me That's when you are in my position, Chris Wood, and then you can ask me the questions, and I pick options. I'm not itchy or sticky. Neither. Or I would yeah. I would just set myself on fire. I don't know. That would just.
That's the cure. Yeah. It really is. So before we go here, if you just would like to
Yeah, one more. Yeah. Just just Cupped hands. Just like just I was hoping you'd give me one. Well, I just was hoping for. May I have some more, please? Yes. And that's how you don't get the virus outbreak from Containment, you guys. Disease free. Here. Now we can do this. Yes. And then I'll take some more from your arm. Okay.
