Andy Grammer Plays Live

I got these fresh eyes. Never seen you before like this. My God, you're beautiful. It's like the first time. When we opened the door for we got used to you, you're. It might seem superficial. The me typical man. You dressed up just a little and I'm like. Ooh, damn.

Young Hollywood

Andy Grammer here in Young Hollywood Studio. What up, dude?

Andy Grammer Plays Live

Good to see everybody. You guys just saw that performance, it's pretty awesome. Fresh Eyes. Thank you, man.

Young Hollywood

Last time, we just get right into it. Let's just get right into it. Let's get right into it. You guys get right into it. Last time.

Andy Grammer Plays Live

I'll go ahead and tell the story. So, uh, I played at the Grove, are we going to this one? Yeah, we go. They're all.

Young Hollywood

Oh yeah, that was right now. Okay, okay, um, so I played at the Grove and there were a lot of people and it was awesome and my first song, I'm playing it and then all the power cuts out. There's like, it's totally packed and I, it's like my big moment at the Grove and all the power cuts out. And then afterwards, I was like, yo what the hell happened? And my manager and everybody was like, I don't know, man, some guy like kicked off the power. Someone who's like trying to get video or a or a picture of something, like just kicked it all off and I just forgot about it. We've come full circle, the guy that kicked off the power is right here. Right here. Tony, are you serious?

Young Hollywood

We were trying to get really cool B roll. I was just trying to get that moment, that shot, you know, live in the moment and, uh, the Grove has a bad setup, too.

Andy Grammer Plays Live

A lot of people come up to me and go like, man, when all the power cut out of the Grove, like, and everybody sang acoustic like like A Capella, keep your head up. It was like a cool moment. So I owe you my life actually. I'm just always, thank you, thank you for making it.

Young Hollywood

Welcome. Thank you. Appreciate it. Yes. We produced backstage diaries, which you were on. Now we were filming for that. Getting cool B roll, because everybody knew there was a giant mistake that somebody did. And you took it like to the next level because he came out and like did acoustic. You guys were doing that. My question is, if you knew that you kicked it, why didn't you just plug it back in?

Young Hollywood

There was a lot going on. Wow. So yeah, Fresh Eyes. Oh. That's a great song.

Andy Grammer Plays Live

Thank you.

Young Hollywood

I don't even know if you mean to make the next big song or what, but you're always making a song that's putting people in a happy mood, in a good place.

Andy Grammer Plays Live

Trying, man, just write a lot. Really love songwriting. So this one, uh, I'm so glad that this one is working. It's funny to have a song that's like so chill. I don't think I've ever put out a song that was like so like laid-back. Like you come to me on this one. Like mostly I'm like. Yeah, yeah, right. So it's been really sweet and the fact that it's working so well is makes me happy. So suddenly, I'm in love with a stranger. I can't believe she's mine. And now all I see is you Fresh Eyes. Fresh Eyes of appreciation. Well, it comes and it goes, but I will write that way for you. It's human nature to miss what's under your nose till you, till you remind a fool.

Young Hollywood

Yeah, so Fresh Eyes is about your wife.

Andy Grammer Plays Live

Yes, totally. So the story about that goes, I've been telling this on the road too, is that she woke up and she, uh, from a nap and she just started rapping Big Sean like out of nowhere.

Young Hollywood

Wow.

Andy Grammer Plays Live

And she, I was, I was in the other room and I saw her and her hair was everywhere. And she gets up and she's like, I ain't even cute. Just like like right right off the pillow. Just like waking up and just like a new person. Going like this. I'm like, who, who the hell are you? Who am I even married to right now? And those are the moments if if you've been in a relationship for a while that you like need that keep it interesting, that keep it like maybe I don't know you. It's like a process of constantly learning each other. It's cool.

Young Hollywood

All right. Uh, I, we want to ask some questions from ask Andy Grammer here on Facebook on the Young Hollywood Facebook channel. Okay. Someone wants to know what your favorite song is to perform live.

Andy Grammer Plays Live

So it's always whatever the newest thing that I just written is.

Young Hollywood

So you like because you'll play a song for an audience that they've never heard. Yeah. And that. You got to earn that. You got to earn that. I don't I don't like, I mean, sometimes. That's as exclusive as it gets.

Andy Grammer Plays Live

It's exclusive, but you also have to earn the right to play people stuff they don't know. I think that what makes a show great, like you think of like great shows you've been to. It's when you go and everybody's singing together all the songs, right? Like that's my favorite.

Young Hollywood

I also feel like there's So when you you like with different artists if you get there and they're like, I'm going to play like nine of the new ones. It's like easy. Maybe all it is simple. Hearts unconditional, yeah. You dressed up just a little and I'm like. Ooh, damn. Okay, so you also heard you written like over 101 songs or 100.

Andy Grammer Plays Live

For the last album. That was Honey, I'm Good.

Young Hollywood

That was Honey. All together, how many have you written?

Andy Grammer Plays Live

Oh man, I don't know. I'm pretty deep on this album too. We're we're nearing that 100 mark again, so you know,

Young Hollywood

So why do you write so many before you have to put it?

Andy Grammer Plays Live

I just, you have to write a bunch to get the ones that when you hear it like your hair stands up.

Young Hollywood

Has anybody ever come to you like, yo, we got this new like weekend trap deep dark minor chord song for you. Uh. What's up? We want to talk on this Andy.

Andy Grammer Plays Live

I'm not I'm not afraid. Like I think that on this on the third album there'll be a little bit more dark.

Young Hollywood

Five. Really?

Andy Grammer Plays Live

Uh, there'll be like, at least one or two or three.

Young Hollywood

Two or three.

Andy Grammer Plays Live

There'll be some in there that I'm trying to experiment with. Right.

Young Hollywood

Well, let's we also, I like to look at people's Instagram feeds like anybody else out there in the world. We have your Instagram feed. There we go.

Andy Grammer Plays Live

Yo, she's the best. There we go. Is she not the cutest dog you've ever seen?

Young Hollywood

Yeah. Wait, Frankie the Bean. That's Lucy.

Andy Grammer Plays Live

Lucy. I said who's Frankie the Bean? When you're making out and then realize you're being filmed. You can't totally see the bottom one, but she looks embarrassed in that bottom bottom right one. Oh. Yeah. She's really cute. We just got her. She's like five months old.

Young Hollywood

Andy's controlling this. Yes. Yes. Okay, so remember this? Okay. Definitely.

Andy Grammer Plays Live

So let me explain this to you. I don't drink alcohol. Right? Cool, cool. So, um, I still have to figure out ways to like have a blast on the road and my band. So we're always like doing ridiculous stuff like this.

Young Hollywood

Oh, there we go. There's the Alaskan shot that we're looking for. Yeah, you nailed it. I knew it. That's just me. They're so cute. So that was it. Playing with some bears.

Andy Grammer Plays Live

Yeah. That's weird. But they came they came out though. They know how to party. Yeah. It was good times.

Young Hollywood

Okay, cool. I just I just wanted to throw back that one in there. You actually have a really good one. Um, so Emma wants to know what is your what has been your most embarrassing moment on stage?

Andy Grammer Plays Live

Emma. Mm. Yeah, didn't she love that name? She always yeah. There's a really big fan Emma. Most embarrassing moment on stage. Let's see. Uh, oh yeah, exactly. Wait, what's that? No, no, no. Let's get another one. So before I had any songs on the radio and everything was going well, I played a show in Las Vegas and got like booed off the stage. Oh, no. And then there's like the drunk guy in the front. He's like, he's good. Let him play. Right. Like just that's pretty embarrassing. Yeah. I'm trying to think of anything else that, uh, since I've. I I remember I kind of like jumped off the stage one time and it was a little higher than I thought it was. So I jumped off and like ran into the crowd, did my thing and on my way back up, like I just couldn't get back up. I didn't get back up in time.

Young Hollywood

What's your biggest fear? Oh. I love those types of questions. I love these too.

Andy Grammer Plays Live

My biggest fear that you go through this life chasing the wrong things. Yeah. I think. Every day. You know what I mean? Every day.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. I think especially in like a career where there's a lot of people watching you or we're here in L. A. Uh, I I would really be bummed out if by the time that I'm old, I was like chasing money or things that don't matter. That would that's my biggest fear. That's a really good one. Yeah. Tony, what do you think? You like always have to like.

Andy Grammer Plays Live

And that's a healthy fear. So you like always have to like be reminding yourself like, is that what's happening right now? Like the next move that I make, that's not what's driving this, right?

Young Hollywood

If I could bottle this up. Bottle, bottle this up, I would. I would bottle this up, bottle, bottle this up, I would. Cuz you're gorgeous in this moment. If I could bottle this up, I would. And so suddenly, I'm in love with a stranger. I can't believe she's mine. And now all I see is you with Fresh Eyes. Fresh Eyes. Ooh, ooh, yeah. All right.
