Well, that's the thing is your videos are so I mean like I can't you can't watch more than two seconds without dying laughing. I don't know how you like Is it something you just come up you don't come up with it on the spot. I assume. I mean it's pretty

Yeah. Yes. Yes, we we write we write all the stuff beforehand. Yeah. I'm not very funny on the spot. So

Yeah. They also tell us to be like super high energy. Yeah. All the time. Like, well, you're like, you're really like quiet and your voices are deeper. Yeah. They're actually normal people believe it or not. I mean, we're real. They're real.

But I mean, how long does that How do you come up with this like because you have so many different show concepts and just all these crazy things like I don't understand how Does it take a long time to do a lot of them or is it like they're different each are different from the other?

Yeah. I mean they they take a while to make and in terms of coming up with the ideas, it's mostly from just random conversation or like, oh, this is funny or this is ridiculous or you know, why does that plant? I don't know something like why are there green gems in the that I don't know. We'd we'd make a video about that. I don't think we'd make a video about that. Not about that, but something. You can do a lot with those, right? You can make you can make something weird. You can make a joke about using a a TV that has six screens all in

We're on TV. Oh my god. Those are names. Those are Yep. Cool. They're spelled right, too. I need this from my aisle. Yeah. My eyesight's not the best so Yeah. You would sit this close to the TV. You're You would. That'd be pretty amazing actually. Uh you're you know what? I I wouldn't mind doing that too. Just watch Smosh all day long on the six screens.

Do you watch your own stuff? Do you like ever go back?

I mean we have to Yeah. We're forced to. It's the worst. It's really it's really funny though cuz like we've been we've been making videos for like nine and a half years so like going back and watching some of those really old ones like I've totally forgot. It's like we're watching it for the first time. You know cuz you're you're there editing it. You're there shooting it. You're there doing every part of the process. So it you can't even really see it from new eyes, you know. So just just wait six years and go watch and re- re-watch it.

Yeah. But it is crazy cuz you guys I mean it's almost coming up like ten years you've spent on YouTube.

Yeah. It's like Ian's had his Ian's had the same haircut since for the whole ten years. There was a little There was a time when I had short hair. And people got very upset about that. Short hair for like, what? Four months? No, it was like a year. A year? No, it was not a full year. It was like almost a year. But either way, it became The the viewers made. It didn't revert back. They revert back to bol. So you were bol and short hair. So you were bol and short hair. But it was like bol V2. Bol so it was bol, short hair, bol V2. Yeah. So you're still in bol V2. Uh, I mean it's I'm on about version three or four. There's been there's been some evolution of the bol. There's been evolution of the bol. Yeah. Yeah. I had I had the emo cut for way too long. For like it was not cool for probably ten years or eight years that I had it. So yeah.

Yeah. It was a tiny little. The the next the next step is just go like maybe like full on like just completely shaved this and just have like just one really long just main of hair going down my face.

In the Smosh Network. Combined 35 million subscribers, over 20 million social media followers, 17 million unique monthly visitors. You have a blog, an app, a video game, four music albums, merch. I mean, and it continues to grow. That's what's crazy, right?

Yeah, yeah. And now we can add wax figures onto there.

Okay. Uh, yeah. Madame Tussauds, they're they're making wax figures of us. They emailed us. They're like, hey, would you like to be immortalized in wax? Like of course. It's really considered. And that's when you know you've made it in Hollywood, right? I guess so, yeah. It's like the only thing that a lot of people care about. They're like, they they don't think that like anything else we've done has been like a big deal but they're like, wait, hold on. You got wax figures? What? And it's it's really crazy starting from where we started. We weren't actors. We didn't do like drama class in high school. We weren't comedians in any way. We were just two normal guys and you know, I borrowed my dad's webcam and we were bored and lip syncing to a music video and the and then now we have wax figures. It makes no sense to me.

Yeah. And you guys met in sixth grade, right?

Yeah. We met in sixth grade. Yeah. We we were put Ian transferred over to my school. He was the new kid in class and I was like, who's this new kid? So the teacher grouped us together cuz I was the kid with no friends and uh so put us together. They're like don't split those two. The new kid and the guy with no friends. Yeah. So we had to work on this project for science and we drew a dump and we drew poop and flies and Yeah. We thought it was really funny. And now they have wax figures. Yes. That's all you need to do in life. Just draw, draw. Small early.

That it's a crazy story though when you think about it. Like did you ever think this was going to be your life right now?

No. I still don't think it's my life. It's crazy. We didn't plan on doing anything like this.

We were just we were just going to community college like had no idea what we were going to do and just kind of fell into our laps and we just continued with it.

Yeah. And you did the website Smosh. com.

Yeah. I started Smosh. com in 2002. Um it was it was just a site for me and my friends to go on. And then it grew to a site that my whole high school would our whole high school went on. Uh then it slowly grew and then we started doing videos on YouTube. like, oh, let's just name it Smosh.

And then How did Smosh actually what is the name? I how does it even

There is a story behind it. There is a story. So it was it was lunchtime back in 2002. It was a nice cool autumn day. No, uh yeah. So my our friend mispronounced mosh pit. He said smosh pit and he kind of mispronounced words a lot so we'd tease him for it. We're like, oh, smosh. Oh, you could use that for any word. It's just like a dumb word. So yeah, we just we just turned it into like an inside joke saying like, oh, so we just used smosh to replace any sort of word. Yeah. And then I was making a website in web design class and it was Smosh. com. It was perfect. And then history was made.

And the wax figures.

And then the wax figure. I am so glad that happened. That was the funniest thing I've seen all day.

This is crazy. You've gone from YouTube. Now you have Smosh the movie, which is pretty much like the natural evolution, right? Of

Right.

Yeah. Or is it? I mean, did you ever think you'd actually be in a movie? Your own movie?

No, I mean, we always thought it'd be really cool to make a movie and our audience had been asking for many years when we're going to make a movie. And um yeah, we we don't see Smosh the movie as evolution, you know, movies being like, oh, now you can stop doing YouTube. And that's what a lot of people think is that, you know, the end goal is to make a movie. But for us, it's just another outlet, you know, we want to stay doing stuff online for sure. So, and the movie is it's a hilarious premise. It's you kind of like going back in the whole YouTube world to try and erase a video. So an embarrassing video gets uploaded online. I need to get it removed before my high school crush sees it. And uh then we we we are told that we can't remove it, you know. It's just

Actually have you ever had an embarrassing video uploaded online? I think everyone could probably

You know you could never this video right here. You can never remove it. So we're we're told that uh you could just go inside a portal inside YouTube and you could alter it from within. And that's really the only way to to change a video. You can't remove it.

You kind of like dive into like different it's all your YouTube friends, right?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. We have a bunch of

And you just like drop in on their their random videos going on.

Yeah, yeah. We have Like our bodies land in Jenna Marbles in the middle of her shooting a video. Yeah.

And Jenna Marbles is just being Jenna Marbles. She's just doing what she does.

Yep. Yep. And then there who were some of the other? Uh Harley Mortenstein from uh Epic Meal Time is in it. Uh Yes. He threw water balloons. Yeah. Milk balloons actually. Ian's into the milk balloon thing. Uh and then also uh Deetrick's, um who's uh Dominic Sandoval. Uh Uh also we got Grace Helbig in it. Mhm. Um Marqueplier's in it, uh who's a he's a gamer on YouTube, a really big gamer. We had Shane Dawson and his scene got cut cuz it was way too inappropriate. Was our bad. Was our bad.

Yeah. Shane's actually been here and he was He's great, right?

He push the limits. It's just funny because like he he even said like when we were shooting on set, he's like, this scene's going to get cut. We're like, no, it's not. You're worrying. We're like, this is totally PG 13. And then

Yeah. We'll we'll have a deleted scene. I think that we plan on talking about it with Shane. So that'll be funny. Yeah. Yeah. So it's going to be like its own.
