Fabulous to have you here.
Thanks for having me.
Why do you have that grin on your face?
I don't know cuz there was a countdown just before you started speaking. I know. And it was quite ominous. Five, four, three. I was like, what's going to happen? And so I was a bit anxious in that moment. Nothing happened.
Countdown to make me an- Do you think the couch was gonna like blast off into the outer room?
I didn't know honestly. You braced. You you looked a bit braced.
I just saw Seventh Son. I we were just saying before rolling. I saw it in the IMAX theater. Highly recommended you all to go see it in IMAX theater. Because I it was just I was just like I mean, I've seen a lot of 3D movies. But this film was as incredible. I have been searching for you, Mr. Ward. You are the Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. An order of noble knights combating the forces of darkness. It says here that there are a thousand of you. They're all died. We are all that's left. Speaking of acting, Jeff Bridges, um, incredible. Yeah. Um, he he's you are the apprentice in this film. You know where I'm going with this, don't you? You told me that you were going to do give me your Jeff Bridges.
There's not enough time. You'll be dead in a week. No, we'll be laughing. That was a warm-up. That was a warm-up. What do you think?
Yeah. I tell you the thing is
You're a terrible actor. You're like, Yep, that was great. He did, um, he had these, um, false teeth.
See, that's what I needed. Which you never see. We have some here. Which you never see in the film. There's so much random paraphernalia.
I know. We do have teeth somewhere. We We're There's definitely false teeth somewhere, but we don't know where they are. But there are. This film. I mean, it's it's one of the I think it really is the best special effect I've ever seen.
Wow, that's cool. And the amount of detail that goes into it. Um, and I'm sure people get asked that all the time as an actor acting opposite nothing or opposite a green screen. There was so much detail and so many things happening all at once. I would imagine your job was particularly tough.
Sometimes you're sort of facing an empty cage and and you'll have the first assistant director on the microphone just being like, Ben, higher. What? Look higher. At what? Where the bear's going to be. I'm looking where a bear would be. It's a giant bear. Okay, like that. Is that is that better? Uh, no, it's like a really big bear, like bigger than the cage. Here? Yep. Is that good? Yeah. Okay, but look scared. Now, is that good? Is it good? Yeah, okay, cut, moving on. And you're just like, what? This is like acting by numbers. How do you get that possibly be enough?
You've said before that you get asked to fall down a lot in films.
So much. At some point, somebody's going to do a montage of me just falling down. It's the amount of times I've just been standing there and the first ID will just point, like literally the camera's point, not even at me, the camera's pointing at the ground. And I'll say, right, can you just throw yourself on the floor, and you do it and then they go, Yeah, but pretend you've fallen from high and it
Um, I want to talk about your mom is a relationship psychotherapist. She is. You can get her on the google. Now I want her number. Can you give me your mom's num- cuz I need some relationship advice.
Just ask me. It's passed us down.
Okay, perfect. So when a guy says, I'll call you and he doesn't, no, I'm kidding. That was about to get really good. This is about to be like the best interview ever. Okay.
No, we can go there if you like.
Okay, so in the film, there's this thing called the Blue Spark. Yes. That happens when you and your lady love touch for the first time. Or it can just be dust. Or it can just be dust. It could be just witches dust or it could mean that they're true loves forever. Now, have you ever if the rest of this question is found yourself in a situation where you've touched hands with a lady for the first time and there's been a blue spark
the answer will be no.
So you live in L. A. now? Because this is the Seventh Son, I want to ask you seven things that are better in the U. S.
Is it multiple choice or I have to come up with seven things?
Seven things. If there are seven things that are better in the U. S. than in the UK.
Okay. Um, weather. That's at least three. Healthy eating options. Oh, yeah. This is L. A. specific, though. Yeah, it was quite but that's but you didn't say it had to be. Keep going. I'm going to I'm going to I'm going to let it go. Oh, this is this is this is unfair cuz I'm Basically, you don't like us, do you? I'm going to look racist here if I can't come up with at least seven. The people. Some of the people.
Okay. We are in L. A. , so I will give you that. Some of the people. Yeah. Oh, weather. Sure. Yeah. I've never heard that before. Okay.
Weather, um, is one. The fact that that that there's some the sunshine. Yes. Oh, um, beach access. Right. Job opportunities. Yeah. As an actor, I mean, this is just heaven on earth. It's Mecca. Yeah. Um, I mean, your food is crap over there. You gotta like
Yeah, I went with food. Was two. I'm trying not to I'm trying not to repeat any, like I haven't repeated weather. You want to eat a jacket potatoes and beans for a whole week? That was fantastic. Well done. That was at least seven. Well done on the seven. This film, I mean, you've done a couple of films where it's like you're wearing like the blouse with the swords and the horse, but you said something that you really want to do like a gun car t-shirt more kind of a role, but I think you've done one, right?
Blouse.
I called it a blouse. You did. Well, I didn't know what you call it, you know? Just anything else.
Puffy shirt.
A puffy shirt. Yeah.
Chemise.
A chemise. Yeah. What what are Listen, this was a pleasure. Thank you so much, Ben. I feel like I could talk to you all day long. It's fun. You have that effect. It's your mom. I know it's your mom. Your mom's done this.
It is. My friends always come to me with their problems. And I'm supposed to just sponge them and solve them and hand them back again.
Oh, I know how we can end this segment.
