I'm Oliver Trevena here on the Young Hollywood sofa joined by the gorgeous Kathleen Robertson. How are you?

I'm great. How are you?

Amazing. You're looking gorgeous as ever. Murder in the first, it's getting exciting, isn't it? Started with a with a bang.

Yes. A few bangs? Yeah. We definitely kinda went there. I got lots of immediate texts and emails from my family going, what? Yeah. The first episode, it's a Columbine-like school shooting and these two 16-year-old boys. So, it's It takes it out of you. It takes it out of you. Yeah. It was hard. It was definitely by the end of filming the the second season of the show which we just finished last week. I'm still sorta white from it.

Yeah. It's great. I was I was gonna ask filming a show like that is pretty pretty intense.

Yeah. It's intense. Taye Diggs is my co-star and luckily we have a lot of fun together and we know how to lighten it up and laugh.

Right, right. Yeah, you're these uh you and Taye are these cops in San Francisco.

Yeah, right. Hildi. Hey. Hey, Louise with Mike. Uh no, I uh I left her with my friend Caroline. 10-4, responding. Where's the body? We knew sorta the show was gonna live or die based on those two characters and their chemistry. And we had never met before. So, you meet and you just kinda go, Right. Hi. I hope that you're normal and cool. I hope that you're lovely. We're gonna spend a lot of time together. And not a crazy person. I don't wanna yeah.

Right, right, right. Which is pretty much if they're not crazy is like finding a unicorn in Hollywood.

That's right. I really didn't wanna do a show where it was a procedural, where every week it was kinda the body of the week. So, this is structurally Right, right. much more like a True Detective or The Killing. It's sorta one case that we follow for the whole season. It's strange to me that in this day and age when we do have such a short attention span and everything's just instant Sorry. that everybody is that everybody's watching these big, long Right, right. shows. Right. It's great. So, you've got to do it right.

Yeah. Um, going back to uh Hildi. On the show, you were quite hands-on with the character when you first got involved, right? Is this true? Even down to the wardrobe.

Yeah. 'Cause when I when I watched her I was like, that's so you. I'm wearing all same. You're always how you dress. Yeah. I got like that. I got like that. Yeah. Well, it was cool because I met this this girl who was a homicide detective in San Francisco that I kinda based the look on.

Right. Moving on from uh Murder in the First to another very happy project, The Vatican Tapes.

Yes. It's another comedy.

It's a comedy. Full of happiness.

Yes. It's an exorcism movie.

Wow. Yeah. That is uh that is Yeah. Do you like those kinds of movies?

I love I actually really do genuinely love horror movies and suspense movies in general.

Yeah. Well, you will love it then. I've seen it. No, I've seen it. I saw it I actually interviewed Michael Peña last week.

Good.

It is great. I'm not just saying that. In the way of the movies always seem to get me anyway and I think like God devil as opposed to, you know, the jumpy ones. The ones that just keep you like there.

Oh, good. Yeah, they're stuffin'. They're stuffin'.

I lost all masculinity during that movie.

Oh, good. That makes me happy. Have you not seen it?

No. Oh, okay. So, we get it all at Young Hollywood. I never get to see any I mean, honestly, the show you are like Murder in the First airs tonight. Haven't seen it.

Oh, wow. Haven't seen it. Not through choice, just you don't see it.

No. They just don't they don't let us actors see that. Okay. I think that's Craig deliberately doesn't let you see anything.

Yeah. It's my publicist. She keeps it all from me.

Yeah, yeah. He deliberately doesn't let you see it. Yeah. Um, and how was that? You've obviously involved in a film like that.

Yeah. Great cast. Great cast and I'd never, you know, again I'd never I always try to do stuff that I haven't done before and I've never done a horror movie.

Is it a horror movie? Down the road, and it's there. It would still be under I mean, it scares the out of you. So It's one of those, yeah. I mean, it's still So it's not horror. Yeah. It's one of those kind of movies. It's definitely not falling under romance. But it'll be Yeah. Which is pretty cool. That's good.

Yeah. I didn't really find anything romantic in No. in that girl that was possessed. No. No. No. Which is weird because normally I go for that kind of girl.

Um and uh and writing a bit as well. Doing your own your own stuff.

Yeah. I um I started sorta professionally doing it in the last couple years. Um, actually when I was when I was on Boss. And um, yeah, I just sold a show to E! Nice. based on a book called Shooting Stars. Okay. And uh I have another thing that I wrote that Christina Applegate is attached to star in. Wow. Super super excited.

This is great. Yeah, so you should be. Yeah. We'll have to bring you back in for those projects as well.

Gotta keep up with them. You mentioned Boss. We've got to mention Boss.

Yeah. Best show of all time. It really was. It was amazing. I know. It always makes me It was amazing. a little sad to talk about it. So sad. Yeah. Um, Kelsey Grammer obviously working with Kelsey. Kelsey was, you know, unreal. I still remember the very first day when we filmed the very first scene. We'd read the script, of course. We knew it was Gus Van Sant and it was such a departure for Kelsey. Right, right. I mean, it was like either Kelsey was going to real I still remember or he wasn't and the show was going to be extremely awkward. I mean, honestly, it would have been It was that and and everybody was kinda just sitting there. And I remember it so clearly. I remember Mark was like, here we go. Let's see if he's if he can do this, you know, thinking of him as Frasier and he did it. I mean, his first take. Everyone did it. His first take, you just kinda went, and I just remember looking around and I was like, I think we're gonna be okay. Yeah. And he's such a shy guy. Then he wins the Golden Globe and, you know, the rest is history.

Yeah. Kathleen Robertson, pleasure. Murder in the First and The Vatican Tapes and uh yes, Murder in the First on definitely see. Vatican Tapes if you don't want any sleep, watch it because it did honestly scare the out of me. I said, shoot. I can't. It scared me. Thank you.
