You're with the lovely Joanna Garcia Swisher. Great to see you. I'm going to be really like tacky and cliché and say we're over the moon to have you. Have people been saying that? Are you getting all the sort of outer space?

Absolutely. I keep saying like the gravity of the situation. No pun intended. I make but I'm the queen of corny jokes. This show has been I've been seeing so much buzz about it and so much great press about it. The show is just really special. I mean I feel like it's 10 episodes start to finish. And it's a story about these incredible women. And a story that we all know but told from such a unique perspective. And they were, you know, simple military wives. And they were heralded as these, you know, strong women that were holding down the fort while their husbands were away. But the reality is these were strong military wives who were used to having their husbands away. But they weren't used to their husbands driving Corvettes and cape cookies all around and all of these crazy exciting things that were happening to their husbands. And all the while, they're also, you know, their husbands are at serious risk of, you know, maybe never coming home. The country needs to see that you're okay so that they can be okay. Annie, do whatever you want. They're all using us as pawns. They'll cut you out as fast as they'll claim you. Whatever makes them look good. What do you think NASA will do to John? If Annie says no. So we're just supposed to spend our lives worrying about NASA? Yes, that's what we signed up for. Don't we have some right for some privacy here? You know, their husbands are in a highly competitive and stressful situation. And I think, you know, ultimately Gus ended up dying. And so

This was the real life you're playing the real life. Woman whose husband He actually he actually died. And so she basically lived the nightmare that everybody was afraid of. Now, I read that you met Betty. I did. But after you filmed the entire first season. After it was all done. So is that intentional or did that sort of happen?

Um, it was intentional. And um, well, really, I was just very grateful that Betty was willing to sit down and welcome me into her home. I thought that was really incredible. Yeah, I think that we, you know, it's only a 10 episode show. There's not going to be a second season. This is one. It is exactly. And that's what's so fun. It's just like it's a it's a different sort of piece of summer entertainment that um we're getting to highlight these really incredible women. But Betty was Betty was a firecracker and it was nice to see that she still is.

Okay. Now, I read something about meatloaf cupcakes. I want to know what that is. There was Was there a lot of Jell-O on set? Yes. Back in the day, what was it about Jell-O? And what was when what are meatloaf cupcakes? I don't know. They were surprisingly delicious.

Whenever we'd have a launch party, naturally there was some real champagne flowing and with a little champagne, everyone becomes a little more confident. I tend to like to eat set food when I have a little champagne in me apparently and nibbling on things here and there. The meatloaf cupcakes were fantastic. So

What they are is they're basically like cupcake cups and you put meatloaf in it and you bake it. And then it's a a a frosted topping of actual mashed potatoes. So it's it's just savory.

Everybody's mouths are dropping behind the camera. Everybody's like it sounds horrible but I literally was like If I known, I would have made some. Oh my God, they're so good. They were so good. So I what's I think it's really cool. I was a huge Dexter fan. And Desmond Harrington's on the show. And he's on the show. Yes. And then you had like a bit of a Gossip Girl kind of like reunion as well.

We had some fun nights together, probably more than we can count. But it was just really nice to be each other's support systems and at night instead of going home to our normal lives, we all kind of depended on each other to enjoy the city and enjoy the experience. Um, I know I'm sure everybody's asking me this but being a wife of a baseball player Nick and then, you know, having like the astronaut wives club, What do you think it is about There's all these reality shows too. Why are people obsessed with wives whether it's, you know, a drama series or reality or whatever it is. Wives of rockstar men. Basically

I don't know.

I mean, I think it seems like a pretty glamorous life and it sounds silly and and not like a modern girl's sort of, you know, guide to life, but these are really tough women. I mean, I'm not saying it's like the hardest life in the world to be married to a baseball player. But there's a lot of stressful situations that come with that. And, you know, it's a unique experience and you can really just you rely on the women that really understand it and support each other through the highs and the lows. And that's a lot what these astronaut wives did with the added pressure of the fame and the stress of your husband going up into space and praying to God that he would come home and and all of that. It just um it just added such a unique spin and and like I said, for better or for worse.

Well, speaking of spin, we're going to do like a little play on words. I have a series of questions because this is the astronaut wives club. Um and it's kind of like a play on outer space terms. But um first of all, I want to know about your launch for your taking off of your career. A moment that you really felt like because you've been doing this a long time and and a moment that you sort of felt like, okay, it's it's happening.

When Reba got premiered on TV. Not actually shooting it. But when I actually premiered on TV, I thought, okay, well, this is like a real show. And it just I don't think there was any doubt in any of our minds that it would be something that we were going to be doing for a while. Yeah.

Okay. Second, um a moment in your career you were over the moon.

I've been over the moon about so many things. But I really remember having like a pinch me moment when privileged got picked up. I was going to be a television show. I remember I had that moment. I was getting on an airplane. It was like, you know, a late night phone call and it said the show's been picked up and I was getting on a plane and I was like, oh my God. This is really cool.

I saw your husband's tweet by the way. Support you for the show. I thought it was sweet.

He is the best.

Awesome. A moment in your life that you felt was written in the stars.

When I met my husband.

I see I was hoping you were going to say that. What was that? Cuz you guys got met and got married very quickly, did you?

Yeah. We got engaged 10 months after meeting. We met at a time in our lives where we're both very much ready and I just can't imagine my life without him. I've never knew that I can love, you know, aside from my child, but at that time.

Was it instant attraction?

Yeah. It was instant. Except he had like a bedazzled T-shirt on. He had this like terrible style. And I was like, you know, I can work with this. I can throw all of this out and just start buying him clothes. I keep all of his jewelry box of like, I mean, he literally had like belt buckle flasks and ridiculous things. It was so bad. But I keep a jewelry box. And it's always at the ready. So every now and then when we have our friends over and have a few cocktails, we like to just remind Nick of where he came from. He's like remember you brigade used to drink you know, Jack Daniel's out of your belt buckle. And he's like, keep it real, Joe.

Thank you. That's a great story. Okay. Um and last but not least, an actor you'd go to the moon and back to work with that you haven't worked with yet.

Meryl Streep and Will Ferrell. I would really love them. At the same time it would be good. Yeah, why not? We should like uh pitch a buddy comedy for Meryl Streep and Will Ferrell. I'll just get their coffee in the morning. I don't care.
