Young Hollywood

What was your first moment that you said, I want to be an actress?

Elizabeth Gillies

I want to be an actress, like, as I was exiting my mom.

Young Hollywood

Really? I don't think you did this. Is that how, is that how babies do? Like this

Elizabeth Gillies

I hate myself. Every time I make a weird face, it's sent to me, um, like, in numbers. And so, now, I just, I mean, I have no control over anymore. It went the opposite way, actually. I don't try to, like, 'cause I'll be a robot otherwise. Right. You just I make too many weird. I'm very expressive. I have to make weird faces, so if anyone wants to throw it back at me I'm doing the same thing.

Young Hollywood

Hey, guys. Nicky Novak here, in the Young Hollywood Studio, with, tada, Elizabeth Gillies. Great to see you.

Elizabeth Gillies

Thank you. Good to see you, too.

Young Hollywood

I have, I'm, I have a girl crush. Just saying.

Elizabeth Gillies

On who?

Young Hollywood

On you.

Elizabeth Gillies

Really? Yes. Yay!

Young Hollywood

You're hot.

Elizabeth Gillies

Thank you so much. I work so hard. I was nervous getting ready today 'cause I thought this might come up. I was nervous getting ready today.

Young Hollywood

No, but, wait a second. Wait a second, 'cause I read some things about you and I'm like, we're like the same person. And everybody at home's gonna be like, she wishes. But, okay, here we go. What? Winged eyeliner, you said you never leave the house without winged eyeliner.

Elizabeth Gillies

No, I love the game.

Young Hollywood

But yours even, because, whenever I do mine, I close my eye and it goes straight up. Do you know what I mean?

Elizabeth Gillies

Yeah, I do.

Young Hollywood

What's the trick?

Elizabeth Gillies

Well, if you, like, go like this a little bit, and that's gonna be a gif. Like, I'm doing things right now I know are gonna be thrown back at me on Twitter. I'm not gonna make the face, but if you like, push this up and close your eyes and kinda have tension there, it straightens it a little bit. Okay. Depending on what kind of wing you want. There are many different kinds of wings. I sound like a crazy person. There are so many different kinds of.

Young Hollywood

There are. Number two, you have a potty mouth.

Elizabeth Gillies

I do. I really do. I have such a bad mouth, and I had to keep it a secret for so long, 'cause I was on Nickelodeon.

Young Hollywood

You let it rip on Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll.

Elizabeth Gillies

Yeah, I just let it rip. Yeah.

Young Hollywood

You're obsessed with DoorDash?

Elizabeth Gillies

Yeah, I ordered last night at 10 p. m.

Young Hollywood

Is that why my order was late? Because you were

Elizabeth Gillies

Is that why your order was late? Because I needed to get peach cobbler, flan, Mexican wedding cookies from

Young Hollywood

From

Elizabeth Gillies

Yeah, from, like, the very far away from my house. I order desserts every day. Baked goods, this is my real downfall, 'cause it's unnecessary. I don't need to do that. I could just go somewhere and pick it up, but I love, like, nothing's more fun than having, like, donuts delivered to your house.

Young Hollywood

Have you ever had frozen yogurt delivered?

Elizabeth Gillies

Yeah, I have.

Young Hollywood

So good, right?

Elizabeth Gillies

Oh, I had it delivered. Okay.

Young Hollywood

And then, the last thing, is that you don't leave your house.

Elizabeth Gillies

No, I don't.

Young Hollywood

You don't leave your house. You order everything. And I don't leave my house ever, either, only to come here.

Elizabeth Gillies

Oh, and that's why I left today, to come here, too.

Young Hollywood

Do you, uh, do you get the Angelina Jolie, Jolie thing a lot?

Elizabeth Gillies

Like, in my dreams. Thank you. No, no, no.

Young Hollywood

But you've gotten Gotten that before, obviously.

Elizabeth Gillies

I mean, I work really hard. I, that's like, if I ever look up, like, a tutorial, makeup tutorial, like, that's the one I'm Googling.

Young Hollywood

Really? Okay. So, let's talk about, um, the show. You get to let loose on this show. You get to, is this more you than anything you've done before?

Elizabeth Gillies

Yeah. Oh, yeah. This is, this is like, I read the script and I, I felt like I was reading myself, which is something I've heard people talk about, but I never experienced it, obviously. This is, I have to get this. This is just like, and there was so much, it really had to be, uh, close to me, because, uh, I had to get the character, 'cause there's so much improv in the show, which Dennis loves to do, Denis Leary. So, we just kinda would make up a lot of lines for scenes. And if you don't really know the character, uh, that would never work. I can't be that. I can't say someone else's lines. I have to say my own lines. No, I would rephrase everything and just improv the crap out of everything. Yeah.

Young Hollywood

You get to sing and sing live.

Elizabeth Gillies

I know. I know. It's incredible. 'Cause I, first of all, I can't lip sync. And that's not like an obnoxious thing people who sing say, like, "Hey, can't even do it." I actually am very bad at it and I can't, I, it never syncs up. So, we discovered that early on when we just had to do, like, a backup take and then they're like, "Yeah, she needs to sing live for everything because she can't."

Young Hollywood

What about when you do ADR, when you have to do like, voiceover for stuff?

Elizabeth Gillies

I'm really good at that. But you do a voice, so you

Young Hollywood

Yeah. I do. Hey, I have a little game for you.

Elizabeth Gillies

Yeah.

Young Hollywood

So, based on a couple of the names of episodes of the show, I'm gonna use like, a play on words and ask you questions. Okay, okay. So, the first episode, the pilot episode, was called Don't Wanna Die Anonymous. Yeah. When do you think you're gonna die? Why do you think you're gonna die? No, what I mean, it's I guess it's all about wanting to be in the spotlight, and you know, wanting to be in the business. What was your first moment that you said, I want to be an actress?

Elizabeth Gillies

I want to be an actress, like, as I was exiting my mom.

Young Hollywood

Really? I don't think you did this. Is that how, is that how babies do? Like this

Elizabeth Gillies

I hate myself. Um, no. A young age. I just always wanted attention. I was like, if I saw my If I hung out with myself at, like, six, I would kick myself in the face. I think I was like, I think I was like the kid who wore, like, Cinderella, like, dresses and tried to sing all the time. People just wanted to kill me.

Young Hollywood

You were were you the girl in school that was just like, I know the answer, I know the answer?

Elizabeth Gillies

No, but I didn't know the answer. I was like, "Can I go believe and sing somewhere?"

Young Hollywood

You said somewhere that you rewatch yourself until you hate yourself. You love to rewatch things after you've shot them until you hate it so much, because you.

Elizabeth Gillies

It's true. When I was on, uh, Victorious, I used to rewatch all the episodes, and I would free I would freeze frame it frame by frame to see where I didn't like how I, like, where I, like, physically wasn't attractive, or how my voice. Like, you the crazy stuff. Oh, no, no. Because I know for a fact when I get when I When they freeze me ever, 'cause when I'm in the editing room, I'm always like, that's all that happens is like, now, today, with everybody, with gifs and everything like that. I sound like a mom. I sound like my kids are at home and I came out to talk to you for 10 minutes. I just, uh. Um, I Jesus Christ. Um, I know. Thank you. Everything is frozen.

Okay. The another episode was called Lust For Life. Do you have a lust for life? Do you have a lust for life? I love your questions more than mine. Do you have a lust for life? One fashion item you're lusting over.

Elizabeth Gillies

One fashion item I'm lusting over? Probably Or a person. You know what I want? I want a cape. I'm lusting over that thought right now.

Young Hollywood

Why?

Elizabeth Gillies

Or something that like, goes over my head, like Maleficent. If we're being honest, that's what I'd lust over. Otherwise, I don't give a shit.

Young Hollywood

Okay. And then, last, what you like is in the limo. If you could have, walk into a limo and have it stocked perfectly, what's waiting for you in the limo?

Elizabeth Gillies

Cakes. Um, what else would be in the limo? What's playing? What's music's playing? What?

Young Hollywood

Seventies music.

Elizabeth Gillies

Right. Seventies. Like, seventies Woodstock music. Where am I going that this is what I want? Cakes and seventies music. No one wants to be in my limo. That's the worst limo.

Young Hollywood

Everybody wants to be in your limo. You're the best. And all of the baked goods are vegan, too.

Elizabeth Gillies

Who wants that? No, it could be good. They can be good. There's mostly, usually not.

Young Hollywood

She just had them delivered. Of course. DoorDash. What is this whole, first of all, I love that you, like, name your What is this whole thing? It's like a saga you have.

Elizabeth Gillies

Oh, with Richard? You know your my ex-husband, the widow. Yes. And you're you're a murderess. I used to be really good in school when they used to give you a picture and you'd have to write an essay about it, like, based off what you thought the picture was about. And so, I'd look at these pictures of me and I just make such strange faces and I'm doing weird things in them and I ended up just the first one I looked like a mother, like, picking her son up from preschool, knowing her ex-husband was gonna be there, so she dressed for it. So, I wrote that down.

Elizabeth Gillies

And then there's the next thing, I looked like a full, like, scary black widow character at my lace vampiric outfit for the premiere of our show. And it looked like I murdered my husband and I was going to his funeral. So, it started this thing where every paparazzi shot after that, it was like the continuing saga of this Upper East Side widow who murdered her. So, did you kill him? You did. Of course. She got away with it, though. Yeah. Yeah. I was gonna embrace that.

Young Hollywood

You embrace that look very well.

Elizabeth Gillies

I look really evil in a lot I'm really not an evil person, but for for some reason, my face is very mean.

Young Hollywood

You do the Chrissy Teigen resting face thing.

Elizabeth Gillies

Does she have resting face?

Young Hollywood

Yes, she coined I think she coined that phrase. It's like

Elizabeth Gillies

Yeah, it's like um. Oh, no, I have resting. Oh, no, I have what I call my mangy face. 'Cause I look more mangy. Like a mangy doll.

Young Hollywood

Mangy?

Elizabeth Gillies

No. No, I do. Really? Yeah. If I let it if I let it release,

Young Hollywood

Okay.

Elizabeth Gillies

I don't know if I can do it right now. I'm laughing too hard. I look like my face is a potato if I let it release. Everything just goes. I just get like, there goes, "Ah!" It's

Young Hollywood

No, mine does, too. But there are certain people that have that. Do you know what I'm doing in my face right now, like, keep my eyebrows up and like

Elizabeth Gillies

No, I am, too. I'm going like this. I'll let it go. I don't care. You saw it, right? For a split second.

Young Hollywood

I saw something. Some

Elizabeth Gillies

It just all falls.

Young Hollywood

Something happens. It's fine though. It's good. Do not freeze frame that in the edit.

Elizabeth Gillies

Everything's gonna get froze. I swear to God.

Young Hollywood

So, you've just had Joan Jett

Elizabeth Gillies

Yes.

Young Hollywood

on the show. How awesome was that?

Elizabeth Gillies

It was incredible. It was incredible. It was amazing. She is so cool. She's one of those people that she was so cool that I felt like, don't talk 'cause you're just never gonna get Yeah, don't ruin it for me, please. You're just like, you're not that, you're not anywhere near as in the world as cool as Joan Jett, so just don't say anything. Just sit there and let it be a mystery. 'Cause I'm so not cool. So, uh, she was the best. She was awesome. She came to hair and makeup and I almost passed out. I mean, she was wanting She's a great actor. Oh, which was amazing. You did your winged eyeliner and it was all shaky. I was like, "No, Joan." In my on my face. She's killer.

Young Hollywood

Have you started dressing more like a rock chick now that you've you've, uh, done the show?

Elizabeth Gillies

Uh, no. I I went through a lot of phases when I was on Nickelodeon, around that time, like, 17 through 19. I dressed real I only wore black, and I wore, like, 19 rings and I was really Goth.

Young Hollywood

Were you a tie face? Oh, my God. You talked about it in some.

Elizabeth Gillies

Oh, I was obsessed with Avril Lavigne. That's what it was.

Young Hollywood

Really?

Elizabeth Gillies

Obsessed. I would wear, um, tie I go to Hot Topic. You know Hot Topic? Yeah. Okay. I'd wear ties and all that. I guess that was like, maybe fourth grade. I loved it. I loved her. I loved her.

Young Hollywood

Are you still scared of elevators, by the way? And of course, you're scared of elevators.

Elizabeth Gillies

Um, first of all, I had to be dragged out of my house on the Fourth of July. Like, dragged out to go see the fireworks down the street, and I was like this, like this. Like a like, yeah, bad. I'm terrified of frogs because my cousins threw frogs at me when I was a child and one of them splattered on me. I'm sorry. It splattered on me.

Young Hollywood

What's that mean? Exploded on you?

Elizabeth Gillies

Yeah. Like, guts.

Young Hollywood

What's in there? Everything?

Elizabeth Gillies

Oh, yeah. All of it. Not a good time.

Young Hollywood

Intestines? Everything? Did it like unravel?

Elizabeth Gillies

Oh, no. How long is it? Like, humans or like, little guys?

Young Hollywood

Thanks, guys, for watching Elizabeth Gillies. Go

Elizabeth Gillies

Oh, watch the show. It's fantastic. She's in it. I am. I'm in it. She's a badass. Yeah. I die in episode six. Just kidding. I don't die. I don't die yet. No, I don't die. I'm kidding. I'm still kidding. Cool. Let's just keep talking.
