Hey, it's Charlie Puth and this is See You Again. It's been a long day without you my friend and I'll tell you all about it when I see you again. We've come a long way from where we began. Oh I'll tell you all about it when I see you again, when I see you again.

Young Hollywood

Hello, Tony Mort, here on the Young Hollywood couch with the most most talented person right now, I've seen so far in the game. This guy is on top of the world, the world. Here's Charlie Puth on top of the world.

Charlie Puth

Aww, you're nice. I have a evil plan. I have a cat. This is my cat pillow. It's like this is my cat pillow.

Young Hollywood

Not a bad-looking guy too, right Lay? What do you say? Pretty good looking guy right there, yeah. I got one woo. That's that's good. That's my life, one woo. They were too scared to woo. They were too nervous to woo. They're

Charlie Puth

No, one was too scared to woo.

Young Hollywood

I was talking about the talents. I just heard you perform, wow. We've come a long way from where we began. Oh I'll tell you all about it when I see you again, when I see you again. Ooh. Ooh. When I see you again. There's a great story about how you met Vin Diesel. Your song was the anthem for Fast and the Furious. I mean the proud anthem of the summer, actually. And you met him at a party. It was like just You, how did that?

Charlie Puth

We were at Farrell's place. Farrell was having a big shindig. And uh I had um Shirley Temples and then I was like, "I'm going to switch to a glass of alcohol." So I went to the bartender and I was like, "Can I have a glass of alcohol, please?" And uh I had uh something mixed with vodka. I don't I'm not a huge drinker. Mixed it with my pinky. And uh had it and I was officially drunk. And I with drunken semi-drunken courage, I went up to Vin Diesel. He had his whole entourage and I was like, "Vin, I wrote See You Again." And he was like, and his bodyguard was like, "Get out of here kid, get out of here kid." And and he was like, "Wait a second." And he's like he's in character all the time and Don voice all the time. He's like, "Wait a second. What did you just say?" He was like, "Uh, I wrote I wrote the song for Paul." He said, "Come here." And then we talked for like two hours. It was great. It's Marvin Gaye, get it on. You got that healing that I want. Just like they say in the song, until the dawn. It's Marvin Gaye, get it on. You got to give it up to me.

Young Hollywood

Marvin Gaye, I love that song. In the music video, pretty hot and heavy. Right. There were a lot of people humping. A lot of making out. A lot of making out, a lot of kissing going on in that

Charlie Puth

You know why I did that, though?

Young Hollywood

You, this is your idea?

Charlie Puth

This was my idea. Okay. I did that because I never went to prom. That's why I got one woo over there. I never went to prom and I wanted to make a video that was prom, because I wanted my first music video to be something I didn't experience. And in my mind, prom was people making out and humping on the ground and me kissing Meghan Trainor. That's that's exactly what I was trying to get at, actually.

Young Hollywood

So, was that your first on-camera screen kiss?

Charlie Puth

That's the first time I kissed someone in front of my parents and her parents. Wow. Yeah. We didn't even use the shot at the end, can you believe that?

Young Hollywood

I saw Yeah, I was looking for it. I saw the behind-the-scenes, but I didn't see it in the shot. Yeah. In the video. Did you did you prep in any way? What did you do? The garlic thing, or did you brush your teeth like a thousand times before?

Charlie Puth

Meghan was like, "Okay. We're friends, and we need to kiss. We need to make it look real. We've never done this before. Kiss me." I'm like, "What?" And she's like, "Kiss me now." I'm like, "Mmm." I'm like, "Okay, that was good. Less let let let less tongue this time." I'm like, "Okay." And then and then we uh got it down. Did the friendly kiss. Seven times for different camera angles, of course. Oh I love the friendly kiss. There's love in your eyes that pulls me closer. It's so subtle. I'm in trouble. But I'd rather be in trouble with you. It's Marvin Gaye, get it on, Young Hollywood.

Young Hollywood

And you did this this like beatbox thing. Yeah. Word, how'd you prac you practiced that, or how did you

Charlie Puth

This is how I This is something I used to do before I was um got the courage to sing in front of people. So I used to run around in school and go

Young Hollywood

You're like a walking like Spotify. We just get you to you can on the like

Charlie Puth

Right, I wish I could do that. I wish I could just Yeah, I can beatbox any song that I hear. John Mayer, you know a John Mayer song? Yeah. Um, Um, that's why Georgia. What's another um. I've been running through the right now. For a while I was listening to too much John Mayer and I used to started to sing like him, which is actually not good. Like, and then like I stopped singing like that cuz when I heard that he hurt his voice, I was like, "I don't want to hurt my voice."

Young Hollywood

So you're you've been doing tea, or how do you like

Charlie Puth

Throat Coat Tea. Throat Coat Tea. It's disgusting licorice tea but it's really good for your voice.

Young Hollywood

Collaborating with everybody right now in the industry. Everybody knows all of the songs right now that are all over the radio. You have You have See You Again on the radio. You have Marvin Gaye on the radio. You have another great I think another song that's going to be on the charts also. Nothing But Trouble, Lil Wayne. Is that what you're talking

Charlie Puth

That's it. That's it. Look at that. It's it. I read your mind. Do the little thing. That means I read his mind. Woo. Yes, me and Wayne worked on a track together. It's a course that I wrote a year ago when my friend was uh dating one of those mean Instagram models who had like uh you know, millions of followers and thought she was all all that and a bag of nuts. And uh I was like, "Hmm, these Instagram models are Nothing But Trouble." They are trouble. And I was like, "That's a dope song title." Went back um to my house and recorded that. One year later, Wayne wants to hop on it. Produced it out. End of the story.

Young Hollywood

No, not end of story. What what Tell me what Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Well I mean what happened in the studio working with Wayne. Like that's awesome. Do you get to work with him or has it come down?

Charlie Puth

So much like um how it happened with Wiz, how we recorded See You Again. Everything's done remotely these days, so we never actually got to record together in the studio. However, um he recorded it in uh I think at like the Hit Factory in Miami. Um sent it back. It was perfect. Um mixed it. And that's really the end of the story. Oh and then we went to Miami and uh stood on a circle, me and him back to back, threw some pictures online if you have any pictures and um we just

Young Hollywood

We'll show the pictures. This is where you show the picture.

Charlie Puth

And um we were spinning on the circle and I felt like a G because I was like back to back with Lil Wayne and he was like, you know, mouthing along my parts like, you know, "I should've known from the very start that you were nothing but a fool's heart." He was like, "I should've known from the very start. I was like, yeah, yeah. Wayne is so cool. It makes he makes me uh feel so much cooler than I actually am cuz I'm kind of a nerd.

Young Hollywood

I just want to go out on a little tiny just do the beatbox thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's let's end on a good note. Okay. This is Charlie Puth. Woo, what, what, what. Young Hollywood. mother. Yeah.
