Did you want to like do the little like the, I don't want to use the word, um like you built us up before we started rolling. Like you're let's have a good shoot. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. All right, everybody. Let's have a good interview. Let's go out there, kick some ass. Huh? Let's kick some ass. Or something like you, do people actually say, people say that all the time right before interviews, do they say that?
No, I don't think anyone does. That's why I was trying to like.
No. It's a unique thing. Do they ever do it before scenes? I would like to, if I were an actor, I'd like to have somebody going, do, have a good scene, do a good job. Right.
Yeah. They always get like, I don't know, it's never like support like they always get like someone random just being like. Yeah. Doing some weird warm up or something.
Happy to finally have you in young Hollywood.
Happy to have you here too. Thank you, it's great to be here.
Um no, I talked to you guys at Comicon really briefly about the film. Yeah. I was going to ask you, if if you guys had like either a face plant moment in life or a moment where you felt like a greenie or a shank. Which are all movie terms.
Oh, like every audition I've ever been in. Really. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Every moment of every.
You always say that about interviews that or auditions that you don't think you're good at it, but clearly you're booking roles. So you're doing fine.
I'm I've booked maybe like what three. Let's count them seriously, you can count them on one hand. No, I'm the worst auditioner in the world.
Give me an like how bad? How bad could it be?
I don't know, you know, it's.
Is it just your version of about it?
It can get it's just it's just embarrassing, you know, acting is just embarrassing anyway. You got to get over that. That's my that's my thing, you know, I I should just get over that, but it is just, you know, auditions just it's hard to disappear into any sort of world, you know, in a room with people and it and like, you know, you just got to like, I've just gotten to this point now where I just have to tell myself like, who cares, you know, like just go in and like I do my thing and like not let them affect me. But I used to let the room affect me a lot. So if it's like a cold room, you know, I'm just like shaking. Yeah. The captain doesn't call for hypothermia, you're way off. You know, you all of a sudden you're just like tone it down. Whoa, chill out with my hypothermia.
Um this is from the book, um The Maze Runner, um that there's a runner's code. It's called, Never stop running, always be alert and bring back hope. Yeah. Do you guys have a life code? If you had a life code, like what would it be?
Never stop running. Yeah, my audition one is, Don't fall over, bring back a job. And yeah, it doesn't happen a lot. So it's that's unfortunate, but I don't know if I have a life code. Sleep. That's good.
Sleep. Yeah. Sleep eat what? Mets.
Sleep eat mets. That's awesome.
Sleep eat antidepressant. Yes. Yeah. Um.
Didn't you want to be a sports broadcaster?
Yeah. Yeah. For a sec. For a hot second. Actually, I more wanted to be like the GM of the Mets. Okay. But like that was my way in was I was like get to go to school for sports broadcast. It can still happen so. It can still happen. Yeah. That's why I put it off. You know, you can always go back to school. I'll just do this, you know, until I fail. Side job. Put it on the side.
Um, I know um Will, you talked, you talked about your bromance and it being a very, I mean, I've never heard the term bromantic.
Oh, you've not? Really? No. That's a fun. Yeah. Yeah.
And basically you said that Will was your boyfriend on set.
I did. Oh yeah. Oh did I say that? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Is it hot in here? Is it? Yeah. Again though, it's always really awkward in these interviews because we're trying not to go, you know, too live with it, you know. Right. The public or you know. Yeah. That's the thing. And it's so funny you say this in total confidence when we're in separate rooms. And then we're next to each other, it's like really awkward. It's like, but it's not like, you know, it's like I'm still like, you know, friends in a doodish way.
Didn't you were filming, though, like you you really go head-to-head in the film. Yeah. And you kind of have to, you know, get rough with each other, which I know there's some scars there, that are still happening. And the film. Yeah. Doesn't make you feel like a badass.
Yeah, it's cool. I like it. Um but then after like, you you'd be like roughing each other up and then after you, you'd be like, Are you okay? Are you okay? Totally.
I I wrestling audition, it was it was crazy because we've got this wrestling scene in the movie and basically me and Dylan had met about five minutes prior to rehearsals. So it's like, Hey, I'm I'm Will. Hey, I'm Dylan. Nice to meet you, man. And then we're literally beating the living hell out of each other in in in this and we've got like the hardest, coolest like stunt dudes teaching us. And they're like, why are these guys being so lame about it? Every five seconds, they're like, Oh, did I elbow you? Like, No, no, no. I think I face your elbow. And he's like, No, no, no, I'm so sorry. And like freaking out about each other the whole. They're just like, just get it done. Just just just get the job done. I think we eventually got to a place where it looks roughly real. Hopefully, anyway.
No, it does. I like it I love the scene. But it was just so funny how in between takes we were just they'd be like, Oh my god, bro, your ankle, your ankle. It's the politest fight you've ever seen in your life.
Exactly. Just full of sorrys and my bads and.
It's so funny. I saw a video, you were like ballet dancing across like a theater.
Oh my god, I can't believe that that made it to you.
Do you hear about this?
No.
I basically, yeah, I don't even know how I got into that.
You like posted it.
I did. Yeah. Yeah. Just me and my own. I set the camera up and then it's 15. It's like a vine of just me just doing my best.
What is it? What is it? Well, you could demonstrate. I mean, I'm not. It's you know, I haven't seen a six foot three man ballet dancing before.
Yeah, I don't know what it was. We we basically when we were in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, like there wasn't a lot going on and and boredom, you know, when you're off set leads to doing strange things and I don't know why I thought that a six foot three and 85 kg, I could be a ballet dancer, man. That's not really. I think that career is over. And I I for some reason did like some ballet move in in the movie theater right before.
You did. Right before the film we were watching. You did. I I really I mean that's it makes it. And it's on the internet. It's so weird.
Is it on the internet? Well, I mean, she knows about it. I think Chris Chris Sheffield, who who plays Ben in The Maze Runner, I think he filmed it. Yeah. So he basically saw a three. Saw.
Is this your secret? So that's Chris. Oh my gosh. Is this your secret? That's hilarious. So for example, I don't share to anybody. No, no. I want you to. No, because now it's like pressure. TV you're like, Oh, no, it'll be. No. But for you, I've seen it. No, but for you. No, I'll take it. And I'm going to drink it. Oh my god. I'll take it. Just cuz I'm dying. So can I please just have this? Oh my god. Okay, now give it to me. Nice. Nice. That was a really good swig. I'm going to do it. This is so huge. For people who know me know this is a big, but only cuz it's. Oh my god, thank you. I'm so sorry. This is hilarious. You're not Jeremy, are you? No. No. That was a major moment in my life. Um, I don't even know what to ask you now after that. Um, what was this about like there was I know, I hate asking you about pranks because everybody asked about pranks. But there was something about you went to Walmart. You got some sort of a. You know what I'm talking about, right?
Oh, is it the big Like an artificial firearm. Okay. So we we there was just one weekend when we were shooting in Baton Rouge, we went to Walmart cuz you just go to Walmart and buy guns, you know, in Louisiana. And that's what people do. And um and uh we we went and we bought some like little pellet guns, like little pump guns uh and like some goggles and we started having like airsoft fights with it. And one weekend I went to Walmart on my own and I got like a huge like heavy powered like fully automatic. Uh M16 like air rifle that I was going to just next time we played, I was just going to like keep it on the down low and then just whip it out at everybody and just. That's basically what happened. Um and um Will got the uh brunt of it because literally like by the time we had. Mhm. F. By the time we had like uh started drawing up the teams to play. I had already like people kept finding out that I had the gun cuz like someone would show up, like Thomas showed up in my room and I was just like, I couldn't help it.
I was like, All right, yeah, check it out. Look look look over there on the other side of the bed. Look at the box. And he's just like, what? You know? And then like someone else came in and So then like, then like it turned out that Will and like Chris were the only ones who didn't know about the gun. We isolated them.
Yeah. I'll say these teams are slightly unfair, but I'm up for the challenge.
Yeah. Yeah. No, no, no, we'll be good. We'll be good. An M16 comes down the hallway.
I think perhaps I'm a bit off a little more than you.
I want to just just say that this film is amazing. I know the word maze and amazing has been used before, but I'm going to say it.
No, that was the first time genuinely. Legitimately, that was. No one has done that. Genius. I didn't even.
Such good actors you guys are. Such bad directors. Such duches. No, I just know because the other three that I just interviewed told me that you guys have been that over. But it's an incredible film.
Thank you.
You know, I've always been a huge fan. I'm a new fan. I think you guys are awesome. Just want to take us out cuz you're so good at getting us into the moment. You want to take us out?
Uh, all right guys. All right, let's wrap it up. That was a good shoot. Have fun. Let's all be grateful for where we are right now, where we are today. You know, Yeah. Go check out The Maze Runner.
