It's zoomed in. Young Hollywood. And we're about to go in for our first Young Hollywood interview ever. There they are getting ready on the big screen. Wow, look all these editing base. Coffee? Coffee, card readers, gum, nuts. Whoa! They got everything here. Oh my God. Holy smokes. Look at this camera. I don't think you guys have enough cameras in here. Wow, look at this guy. Oh. I'm here at the Young Hollywood Studio with Nev Schulman and Max Joseph. And we're just playing with toys, aren't we?
Out of the box.
We are.
Of the Young Hollywood box. I brought my new girlfriend who I met online. In online, I heard that she was a supermodel. Yeah. Well, I actually prefer that she's just a soft, love banana. I mean, because people are complicated. She does have a great polo shirt, though, with the bo-
If it makes you feel better, I've definitely gone home with worse than that.
Yeah. I brought my mask because our show is a lot about the mask line. We all wear. So this is the mask I'm going to wear while, when I talk about wearing masks.
He's scary. You're talking to me?
Yeah, your hair really goes with the mask.
It does, yeah. It does. It works. It does.
All right. Okay. And I've got the Happy New Year hat on. So not celebrating New Year, but we're celebrating a new season.
It's your mom's birthday.
It's my mom's birthday. It's a New Year. So for her it's a New Year.
Happy birthday.
Happy birthday, mom. Um, but the new season. This is more important than any New Year. Season 3. It's a new year for all of our fans and the people who watch the show. It's exciting, man. It's I've seen celebrities tracking down their stalkers. Times are changing. Lots of different things.
Tell us. We're solving, we're we're solving mysteries. Like real crime crime, yeah. How's how's it been? Tell us the best moment, your your best moments of Season 3 that we can look forward to when watching.
I think the best moment of shooting Season 3 was when one of our catfish turned to Max and said, wow, you guys are so nice on television. I'm I'm kind of shocked how you all are. You are. This kid really was asking for. But But he was an example of some of the people we've had on the show this season that were not just hopeless romantics or or unhappy, lonely, uh, love sick individuals longing for connection. This was a kid who went out and very deliberately took advantage of people and really did something. Got them to buy things for him. And just kind of out of just because it was fun. It was a game. Not nice.
No, not nice. Not nice. No, I mean this season is like it's different like Nev said, like the the first two seasons, most of the stories we were investigating were kind of romantic in nature. Right. And this season, because we kind of we kind of went through a lot of those romantic stories and they're not many new and different ones left to tell even though they're all pretty weird in their own way. But this season we got into like we actually kind of became investigators.
Yeah, like detectives.
I like that. We refer to ourselves as Jew detectives.
Okay. Jew detective. All of that is that Season 3. Season 3, colon Jew detective.
Right. Right. So the difference with this season is that uh, we're meeting people who again, it's not like it's harder to be compassionate and to be so understanding. It's easier when they're in love and they don't like something about themselves and they've they've lied, but it's you can kind of understand why. Right. This season a lot of the people, not everyone, but a lot of the people are are just straight up lying to mess with people or to get money out of them or they're they're really just playing people for for the fun of it and it and it really just gets under your skin. Of course, yeah. And you can get really upset and and so when you meet them, you you want to you want to impress upon them like the the magnitude of what they've done and get them to realize like you've like you're hurting people, you're doing things that that are bad. Right.
Do you guys have trust issues? Have you found that, you know, being on a show like this, it develops Because it must be hard to to look at a girl or go on a date and be like.
Right, it's funny is that my dad kind of as a result of the show, my dad's Instagram following has gone way up. Right. And he's a photographer and I feel like he's wait, I mean he's obsessed with Instagram. And he he doesn't mean it's it's to a degree that scares me a little bit.
What's his handle?
Well, @WKJoseph. There you go. But he doesn't have the same cynical view of social media that I do. So he makes friends with people and starts talking to them and like they develop, you know, friendships. He even brought at our last reunion show, he brought a few fans to the show. People who he'd never met before. He he brought.
Sounds like a legend to me.
Yeah, it's amazing. He he brought the girl responsible for the Instagram account Nev's chest hair. To the reunion, no, to the live after show. They're not even my fans, they're Nev's fans. Which is really not cool.
Right.
Max is your cameraman. All right. And um And yeah, I'm like, Dad. You don't know who like I make a show called Catfish. You may have seen it. Like you don't know who these people are. He's like, oh, yeah. They're okay. Like I have a feeling they're not.
Season 4. There'll be an episode on your dad, this is great. We have some dating questions. That not dating dating, you know, not your personal life, obviously, just just a few tips. What's the biggest risk of online dating?
Well, just loss of time. Right. You can really, like, some people really put years of their life. I mean, money, time, but like really it's just years of your life gone like opportunities missed. Like you you'll ignore like any real life opportunity for love because you have this amazing thing online.
Um, is there a type of person that that, you know, in general that online dates?
Not anymore. Seems it seems across the board now. Everybody who's single. Tinder seems to have leveled the playing field. Anyone, everyone who was like kind of not on board with internet dating at all seems to have kind of given in to Tinder. Right.
Have you used Tinder?
No, I've been in a relationship that predates Tinder.
Okay. Would you if you weren't?
I probably. Okay. I'd probably try it. I hear it turns your life upside down for a certain amount of time. Right. Right.
Okay. How is Tinder? I've actually been in a relationship pre-Tinder as well.
This is true. This is true. But it's great. No, I'm just kidding. Just kidding. Um, I just think online dating is a very can be a very hazardous. Right. Uh, sticky and and literally. Yeah.
Um, what are examples of exaggerations that people say or do to look better when online dating? What are the general things that they exaggerate?
Well, at this point, I feel like the the selfie from above hides anything or might be going on here. Oh. I think so. But that's a pretty commonly.
One move that I think you sometimes see a lot is the mirror pick with the flash, so it's like it's like a starbursty thing and you can't really see.
Right. I've seen that one. That really scares me though. That really does look like you could be a killer.
If someone's setting out to lie about the way they look, chances are they're going to choose photos of a person who's always showing their abs. Right. If it's a guy. Right. Which which is like who does that? Who just constantly takes pictures of their abs?
Who has them?
Yeah, who has them full stop? Yeah, so stupid. Or if it's a girl, they'll always sort of be in like bathing suits. Like, I hate that.
Yeah, always in bathing suits. Yeah, terrible. Stupid.
Every guy will tell you that that's the least attractive outfit a girl can wear.
Yeah. Totally. Yeah. I like a girl in something formal. So that she's intelligent. That's right. A cocktail dress.
Yes. Totally. Or a business suit, like a power suit.
Power suit. Powerful. Powerful women. Yeah.
A muumuu. It's generally. I don't quite. A muumuu. It's one step above trash bag.
Is this the point you told me about where we should wrap the interview up?
That's it. We may have already passed.
Okay, we've passed it. Max gets weirder. We're gonna wrap this up before something really bad happens between the three of us. All good. It is a hotel room. You said it first.
