I'm here, joined on the sofa with the extremely talented Dre De Matteo.
How are you?
Not, not, not Georgie.
Georgie's talented as well.
We were just talking about how talented.
How talented her butt is. Drea de Matteo: Yeah, she's just she's just passed gas and it is unreal.
Oh, I love it, I love it.
I wish we had a scratch and smell thing that you could touch now because you'll appreciate this. Drea de Matteo: Doing the one thing I swore I'd never do. Drea de Matteo: Saying yes to a reality show.
What's the meaning behind the name?
I mean, obviously, you're a mum.
I guess that much. Drea de Matteo: Oh, God, yes, I'm a mum. Drea de Matteo: And um, my house is sort of like a commune for uh, gypsies and crazies. Drea de Matteo: So, everybody always says that my house is either the vortex, which I guess would not be the better name for the show with kids running around. Drea de Matteo: The vortex. Drea de Matteo: Right. Drea de Matteo: Um, so it's kind of the mothership.
Okay. Drea de Matteo: Yeah, and you know, we're kind of out there in space a little bit, so it's sort of like spaceships and like.
You're also the dog whisperer. Drea de Matteo: Yes.
Award-winning actress, dog whisperer.
Um, and now, um, reality.
I mean, there's cameras everywhere.
Following you on everything. Drea de Matteo: Oh, well, it's it's kind of benign. Drea de Matteo: Doesn't feel that bad because they're all iPhones.
Okay. Drea de Matteo: Um, which was part of the reason why I agreed to do it. Drea de Matteo: Let's try on some Sons of Anarchy clothes. Drea de Matteo: Why are we going to the doctor? Drea de Matteo: I got cramps. Drea de Matteo: I'm just kidding. Drea de Matteo: We need to figure out a process to get more original content onto the Facebook and Twitter accounts. Drea de Matteo: Sex tape.
You're putting yourself out there.
Have you got used to it now? Drea de Matteo: That question has many answers for me. Drea de Matteo: And I guess it starts with uh, A, because it was iPhones, it did feel kind of benign, less, you know, intrusive. Drea de Matteo: Um, it's one of my best friends who's shooting it. Drea de Matteo: So he brought me the project and said, "Come on, let's just do this thing. Drea de Matteo: You need to pay for your garage to get fixed right now. Drea de Matteo: Let's just do this." Drea de Matteo: Um, "You don't know anything about social media. Drea de Matteo: You don't have a Facebook page. Drea de Matteo: You don't have Twitter. Drea de Matteo: You don't, and I'm like, and I'm just, I was completely overwhelmed. Drea de Matteo: Let's make a vine. Drea de Matteo: Let's make your first vine on your account. Drea de Matteo: I don't even know how to wrap my head around that. Drea de Matteo: How come you get to be verified? Drea de Matteo: You don't have to be, but you're famous, you should be, you should be verified. Drea de Matteo: Like, have the little check mark, you know? Drea de Matteo: Girl, you're going to have one of these one day. Drea de Matteo: Oh, okay. Drea de Matteo: You are. Drea de Matteo: Thank you Vine for my first Emmy. Drea de Matteo: I'm so gracious. Drea de Matteo: Oh, my God. Drea de Matteo: That's mine. Drea de Matteo: Okay, cool. Drea de Matteo: I'll see you guys later. Drea de Matteo: And then I just sort of felt like, man, I don't care. Drea de Matteo: I like being myself now. Drea de Matteo: So, I don't want to sit in hair and makeup for hours and have to get my tattoos covered up and be someone else every single day. Drea de Matteo: I want to be myself for five minutes. Drea de Matteo: It's taken me until 42 to be able to even say yes to just even being myself in front of the camera.
Really? Drea de Matteo: Oh, yeah. Drea de Matteo: No, give me a script. Drea de Matteo: Okay, you got me getting my hair washed. Drea de Matteo: Get lost and I kick you in the nuts. Drea de Matteo: I guess cello was looking to get me all turnt up. Drea de Matteo: Is that right? Drea de Matteo: Did I say that right?
Wish they put massive amounts behind this this new Endeavor Beyond.
Yeah.
Um, and this is on the Beyond Reality channel.
Right.
So, yeah, I I guess you're in good hands.
If you're going to do it, you're in good hands. Drea de Matteo: Yeah, they're all my buddies there, so. Drea de Matteo: I actually miss having them around all the time.
Right. Drea de Matteo: It was fun.
And you've got your kids are on the show, the nanny's on the show.
You're learning how to drive.
So, we are going driving. Drea de Matteo: They're going to make me drive in traffic. Drea de Matteo: I drove for years and then I quit. Drea de Matteo: And and I think part of the the the big um, obstacle even while we were filming was anybody that was working with me, I was like, "Yo, can you give me a ride? Drea de Matteo: I have to get the kids from school. Drea de Matteo: Who's going to give me a ride down the hill? Drea de Matteo: Who's going to take me there? Drea de Matteo: Who's going to go get my groceries?" Drea de Matteo: So, it would be anybody in production would have to help me. Drea de Matteo: Right. Drea de Matteo: Um, so it was like, "Okay, we have to do an episode where she's driving."
What are you most excited about in the show?
Like to show people that about you, about your family, about the normality or the un-normality? Drea de Matteo: Oh, great. Drea de Matteo: Enjoy. Drea de Matteo: Tomorrow is the three-week challenge. Drea de Matteo: I still look pregnant.
No, you don't. Drea de Matteo: 15. Drea de Matteo: You're freaking mind. Drea de Matteo: Oh. Drea de Matteo: Is that him, Dre? Drea de Matteo: Come on, he's a freak. Drea de Matteo: And when I watch them, I'm like, oh, Jesus Christ. Drea de Matteo: Are you kidding me? Drea de Matteo: But I think the part that I that I like the most is is the older who took care of me growing up who I take care of now. Drea de Matteo: Right. Drea de Matteo: Um, but it's kind of serious. Drea de Matteo: It's not the silly part of it. Drea de Matteo: She likes the knit. Drea de Matteo: This is this one. Drea de Matteo: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Drea de Matteo: She's she's wild. Drea de Matteo: Yeah.
Cool.
Have you seen this?
She looks like she wants to get it right here. Drea de Matteo: There is no recovery for monkey in at her age. Drea de Matteo: So, it's just a matter of making her happy. Drea de Matteo: Keeping her comfortable. Drea de Matteo: She loves being around my kids. Drea de Matteo: She likes monkeying around this house. Drea de Matteo: She likes cooking. Drea de Matteo: So, just let her do all the things she loves to do. Drea de Matteo: Get out of here. Drea de Matteo: Get out of here, everybody. Drea de Matteo: Oh, boy. Drea de Matteo: She's a she's a lovely lady though. Drea de Matteo: She's a character. Drea de Matteo: Um, yeah, people come and hang around my house just to hang around her and eat her cooking all day.
Nice.
That's probably the most real part of the show.
Why do you call her monkey? Drea de Matteo: She kind of has long arms and she we used to joke around. Drea de Matteo: She's like dragging her knuckles on the floor. Drea de Matteo: Respect the elders. Drea de Matteo: Respect the elders on the show. Drea de Matteo: There's no respect. Drea de Matteo: There's no respect. Drea de Matteo: There's no filters. Drea de Matteo: There's I don't even know if you'll understand half of what I'm saying because I'm sure it's just
That's enough reason to watch it.
That's enough reason to watch it. Drea de Matteo: My super mom award. Drea de Matteo: Mommy. Drea de Matteo: If I have a heart attack today, will you please take care of my kids?
That's what makes the great uh, minutes of uh, show on this mothership. Drea de Matteo: The mothership.
The mothership. Drea de Matteo: Yep. Drea de Matteo: The mothership. Drea de Matteo: It's a spaceship.
For the De Matteo family, um, Georgie's now going to attack Dre, so we should wrap this up.
We should wrap this up before someone dies on the show.
Thank you for coming in. Drea de Matteo: Thank you, man. Drea de Matteo: Her gas was horrendous.
