I'm here with the lovely Ellen Page. Thank you for coming in.
Thanks for having me.
You it's our pleasure. Georgie was really excited, she's a big fan. Aren't you Georgie? You're now in a video game. Beyond Two Souls.
Ever since I was born, I've been linked to an entity.
Hey. And I I I was looking at the video game, and it's pretty scary what they can do now with technology.
It's wild, yeah.
Mario Kart has come a long way.
It has, yeah.
It's amazing. How did this all start like being involved in a video game? 'Cause obviously you're you're a movie star.
Like any you try to do any other job, it comes across, you look at the material, I met with the director, and quite frankly it was a no-brainer. Um, I mean at first it was like, what does this mean? What does it mean to be in a video game? Do I just do some voice, like what the hell? And the script was over two thousand pages long.
Did you read the whole script before you committed?
Yeah. Yes, yeah, I had to. I mean we were doing 30 to 40 pages of material a day, which is insane compared to a movie. It's unfathomable.
And you play Jodie.
I play Jodie.
You are Jodie in the video game, and you have this entity, this like gift which is Aiden. It's the new me and You might as well just give up, Aiden. The state is going on. Like an imaginary friend, in a way. Do you ever had an imaginary friend in real life?
I I haven't. Um, but when I was a little kid, I had this picture of cats on the wall.
Okay.
And I thought that another cat lived behind the picture.
That's kind of so an imaginary cat. So an imaginary cat that lived behind the picture for him. Yeah. That's similar in some way. But yeah, you can control Jodie. Can you change her path in life?
To a certain degree, of course. Yeah. I mean I think that's what makes this such an interesting way of um, being told a story. And the fact that the medium of video games is being used now to tell stories that are sort of a more emotionally complex. Much more of a cinematic scope in regard to its narrative.
Um and how was it working with William Dafoe?
I mean, William's amazing.
Right. Did you did you spend much time at being a video game?
I mean, any scene you see in the in the game that we have together, we we did together. Yeah, we did together on the stage.
Yeah. And did you play video games?
Um, when I was younger, I played video games like crazy. Um, but when I was about sixteen, I stopped. So I've had this like ten year hiatus.
So you used to stop. We've got some fan questions. Okay. Are you ready for that? Is that okay?
Yeah, I am so.
Yeah, few fans. You've got fans. You've got fans. You're Ellen Page, you have fans.
Well, a couple, maybe.
Give some rising stars a piece of advice. In Hollywood.
I just think it's like so insanely important to be yourself and not believe the stuff that people are telling you.
That's not cheesy. That's very smart advice.
The ideas the ideas that people are putting in your head, um, I think you're gonna be so much more successful if you um, you know, stick to very, very being very true to who you are and authentic.
Weirdest thing encounter with a fan? Has there been any strange ones?
There's been strange ones. There's been like people standing in front of your car so you can't drive and you know a little like hinging on.
Okay. Hingin' on, there's no need for that. No need to do that. No need to do that. What is your idea of the perfect day off? When you're not busy and working?
Well, where I'm from,
Okay.
Nova Scotia.
Nova Scotia, Canada.
Yeah. Um, probably going for a hike, and then getting to a lake.
Okay.
And then swimming in the lake.
Okay.
And then getting out and just like hanging out in the sun with a friend.
You can't jump in the Hollywood reservoir, you'll get arrested, so.
Wouldn't do it. Wouldn't do it. Wouldn't do it.
Um, yeah, no jumping in the reservoir, guys, let's not send that message. Instead of jumping in the reservoir, perfect pastime. Beyond Two Souls. You can experience all that through.
Yes.
And it's very real. You could be Ellen Page in this.
