Bonjour, je suis ici avec Rosario Dawson and Vincent Cassel. How did I do in French?
C'était vraiment vraiment très très bien. Je crois qu'il faut que tu continues comme ça. Le français ça te va mais super bien, je te jure.
That's the only response that I can come up with. Which means okay. How's your French, Rosario?
Ah c'est une jolie.
Exactement. Who knew? There you go. Have you ever been hypnotized before?
Uh no. Not that I can remember.
Close your eyes. See, I'm going to try to hypnotize you. Are you ready? In five seconds, you are going to speak in a language other than French. Maybe two or three. Five, four, three, two.
Você é totalmente incrível, porque agora que você está me falando assim, eu acho que eu posso te falar português até amanhã.
You speak five languages, don't you?
I'm French, you know.
That's impressive.
All French people speak at least five. I know it's it's Europeans, you know, it's big, it's a big tribe.
So this film you're working with Danny Boyle. I know you've said before in interviews that when you work with truly accomplished directors, they don't sort of have, they don't necessarily have a map. They sort of like to go in and sort of let things happen. Was that sort of his process? Was he, was he that type of a director?
Kind of, because we, we had two weeks of rehearsals and uh, while this two weeks we could have changed things if we wanted to really. You know, he comes from a theater world, so he really loves actors in the first place. And then again, you know, if you uh, he's that kind of guy, you know, if you, if you come up with something better, you will definitely take it.
It's nice to have that time. Sometimes it really is very difficult when you're supposed to show up on day one and have a level of intimacy that's supposed to be several years and you've just met before action. You're going to be really good.
Yeah, you got to be really good.
But even no matter how good you are, maybe the other person isn't so great at selling the relationship and then you're kind of screwed.
Okay, well we have kind of like a game for you guys. It's kind of like a trans hypnosis type, like just a sort of a questionnaire. What one song, TV show or film puts you in a trance after a long day on set.
I'm going to take it back to In Living Color. Oh yeah. I will get lost in that for life. I just want to be a Fly Girl.
Can you do that, Vincent?
No. I'm not a Fly Girl.
He's not that kind of actress.
But uh no, I would say maybe the music of Once Upon a Time in America.
Once Upon a Time in America.
Every time that I hear it, it really relaxes me a lot.
Okay, this film is about recovering a stolen work of art. But if you could borrow one work of art and hang it in your living room for infinity, what would it be?
There is a huge statue of Christ in Rio de Janeiro, called the Corcovado.
Yeah. It's a little big.
find a way to put it in your fit it in your window.
Yeah, exactly.
Big backyard. It's going to be in your living
You live in Brazil part-time, don't you?
So it's already in my backyard. Exactly.
I love that piece. I would go with a sculpture as well. I'd probably go with something August Rodin did. I love, I love that sculpture garden.
Okay, well speaking of artists, your likeness is going to be captured by either Picasso, Rembrand, Warhol, Banksy or Da Vinci. Who are you going with to paint your portrait?
Hmm. It depends who's in what like version of their art. Can I pick two of us like
Yeah. Even though I think Leonardo da Vinci for you would be better.
Why do you think that? Why do you think it would be better for you? Classical beauty. Oh, I think like I'd love some Salvador Dali action.
I would too, he's my favorite. Or maybe like Picasso, you know, this you know, to see all of that would be amazing.
Yourself in abstract. Okay, you're hypnotized to forget your worst job before becoming a successful actor. What job would that be?
Um, well, I started acting at 15 and before that I was just tutoring and babysitting. So it wasn't that bad. No, it wasn't that difficult. It wasn't too terrible.
Unfortunately, I already forgot. And maybe that's better like that, you know.
Have you guys had a moment since becoming an actor that you'd like to forget? Like maybe an embarrassing moment from like an audition or like something crazy that happened to you on set?
Uh oh. Yeah. I I it's not so much an acting thing but but I remember I met when I met Prince for the first time. I was 19. He flew me out to Paisley Park to do this monologue in his 1999 remix album. And I come in. He's like, before we go into the booth and we do the monologue thing, he's like, want to you play something? I was like, I don't play any instruments. He's like, oh come on, everybody can play an instrument now. I was like, um not everyone's like you and no, I can't play an instrument. And he was like, come on, at least the drums. Anybody can play the drums. And I was like, okay. And he was like, oh okay, okay, you can't play the drums. And it was like I literally fell through the floor inside.
Oh my gosh. That's a great story.
Can we just do the monologue please?
Okay, if you could hypnotize either your agent, one family member or a castmate from the past without naming names to get them to stop doing something. What would it be?
Not naming names, but someone that I had to work with that I had to kiss a lot, who would always lick his lips before I kissed him.
Not you. You didn't kiss in this movie, did you?
Not you. I'm telling you, it was one of those like He was like. Yeah, that's not. And I love him. I love him but he was he was doing an impression and every time. It was like before this before action I'd go. I don't want to oh okay going in. We're in love. We're in love.
I don't have anything like that unfortunately.
You're very lucky. You're very very lucky. Well thank you both so much for coming in.
Thank you.
