Young Hollywood

What up, guys? Nikkie Novak here in the Young Hollywood Studio powered by Subway with Rob Van Winkle. Great to see you.

Rob Van Winkle

What up? It's so good to see you in your home, in your hood. This is it. A1A Beach Front Avenue. There's these awesome little hotspots out here and I love showcasing it on the Vanilla Ice Project and it's just, you know, the latest and greatest in home technology. But, you know, everybody's seen the foreclosures and short sales out there, you know, you got these beautiful neighborhoods and you get this Let's talk real estate for a second. Let's talk because, I mean, I I can talk it forever. I'm that guy on the airplane that'll annoy you. Am I talking too much? No, I'm kidding. I I love it though. It's I'm passionate about it and I love showcasing the latest and greatest in home tech.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. Let's talk. Now, I know you've said you don't even know how many houses you own at this point. Can you give me a ballpark? Give me a ballpark. Are we talking, we're in double digits, obviously.

Rob Van Winkle

Well, when you do when you do it for a living or, uh, you know, investment purposes, you know, you have inventory. So, it's not like they're my personal houses even though I own them. It's more like, you know, I'm I'm flipping them, I'm selling them, I might be renovating some of them. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, you know, some are small, some are big. But on the show, we do the mansions now. And I've been showcasing things like I built the world's first home IMAX theater, which is awesome.

Young Hollywood

In your own home though, wasn't it? Okay, if you're going to do an IMAX theater, do it in your own home. That way you get to enjoy it. How did you do it?

Rob Van Winkle

Well, I had a connection. I had a connection over Mitsubishi that helped me out.

Young Hollywood

Well, you've done crazy things. I know you did like some sort of like a human slingshot into a lake.

Rob Van Winkle

I did. I'm an extremist. I race motocross. I gotta have something that's, you know.

Young Hollywood

Right. Well, here, yeah. Here's a question for you. Before you're a rapper and an actor and all that, what was your first job?

Rob Van Winkle

Motocross. I raced professional motocross since I was 8 years old. Good friends with Ricky Carmichael, Travis Pastrana and all the guys and, uh,

Young Hollywood

We had them in our studio, Travis.

Rob Van Winkle

I'm still doing it, believe it or not. And I love it, man. You know, get out there and get dirty with your buddies on the weekend and just enjoy it. But, uh, on my show,

Young Hollywood

You got hurt.

Rob Van Winkle

Yeah, I get hurt.

Young Hollywood

What's the most hurt you've ever been?

Rob Van Winkle

It's the greatest sport on earth until you crash. It becomes painful.

Young Hollywood

So what's the craziest trick you can do?

Rob Van Winkle

Well, I can do all the tricks. I do the the Superman fender grab, the Nac Nacs, the Cordovas.

Young Hollywood

What is all this?

Rob Van Winkle

Heal clickers. You know, I'm an adrenaline junkie. Without it, I feel like I'm only halfway living.

Young Hollywood

Did you have a moment in your career where you sort of said, I made it? Whether or not that was the real moment, like, you know,

Rob Van Winkle

You know what happened with me is that I did Ice Ice Baby when I was 16 years old. So, I don't know any different, really. I mean, I had a weekend that lasted a few years.

Young Hollywood

You were an Ice Ice Baby.

Rob Van Winkle

Yeah, I was. But, you know, it's amazing because after the snow globe kind of settles from doing the artificial life, thousands of people all the time and glamor and glitz, you got to figure out what your purpose in life is and where I fit in. And I found another passion with renovating homes. I never planned it or expected it. But with the Vanilla Ice Project, I'm on season 3 already. I'm so honored that people appreciate what I'm doing out here.

Young Hollywood

And now you own like what, 150 homes?

Rob Van Winkle

No, I don't mean that. I'm the small man on the totem pole out here in South Florida. There's, uh, you know, this is the CEOs and billionaires of the world. It really is.

Young Hollywood

But it's also a party place. Like, do you go out? Do you go out dancing? Do you do all that kind of stuff?

Rob Van Winkle

I used to. I don't do that anymore. Believe it or not, I wake up early and I'm on the construction site. And and I go on the weekends, I wake up early. I don't stay up because some of these clubs here, they don't even open until 1:00 AM and they stay open until like 7. And you're getting up to go to the construction site. And I'm getting up to go to the construction site or on the weekends, go ride dirt bikes or something. But, you know, like I said, I had a weekend that lasted a few years. So I experienced the whole.

Young Hollywood

Yeah, I did it. And who do you listen to right now? Are there rappers you listen to that you love? Are you loving like like Adele, like who's your thing?

Rob Van Winkle

Jay-Z and Kanye and all that and, uh, Two Chainz. Come on. We're jamming out there. I'm into it all.

Young Hollywood

Hey, wait. The last time I saw you in our studio, I rapped for you. Are you not listening to my song? Did you download it? It's on your iPod?

Rob Van Winkle

I have it. I listen every day. What are you talking about?

Young Hollywood

Remember how it went? I can't remember every word, but I was just I was hoping you would remind me. Do you want me to do a little rendition? Let's hear. Come on. Vanilla Ice is here at Young Hollywood. You know He can slip it, he can sell it. Because it's all good. Because it's all good. And you're in Miami, which is my hood. Yes. And whatever. That was terrible.

Rob Van Winkle

Good enough. Good enough.
