I am here with Sierra Bravo, and it's great to have you in LA. I know you're not here very much anymore, are you?

Not very much.

So, you were mostly in Atlanta now. This is true.

Hey. Hey. It's a party tonight on the roof. And this concerns me, why? But you can't study all the time, Emma. This is Jordi, my new roommate. Roommate? Let me get this straight. They gave you a roommate?

Let's talk about why I'm so underdressed. Well, I'm currently shooting the cover for Glitter Magazine. It is their prom issue. So I'm very excited about it. because I've never been to prom. So I get to put on all the dresses, which I feel is the best part.

You've been acting since you were, isn't was it nine years old?

Yeah. Around, I booked big time rush when I was 12. So I

I don't know, I read that you were discovered like it was like a like an uh, you know, like a talent expo sort. Yeah. So take me through that. What was

I was nine when that happened, yes.

Do you remember very vividly, yes.

I was in Dallas, Texas. It was uh um a Mike baby talent expo of sorts and I had to go through different stages of uh performing a scene and doing a dance and song, which was miserable because I don't dance and I don't sing. But I love to act.

You got to fake it till you make it, right?

You got to fake it. You got to fake it till you make it. So that's what I did. And I ended up um signing with my manager, who's still with me today. And he introduced me to my agent. And then I started flying out to California during the summers and for a few weeks during the school year just to audition. Took me a few years.

Yeah, I read that it took you a few years. So, um, I think for people, because you are so young still, people go, okay, it's so easy and and but it's tough. I mean, it's a tough.

It is an incredibly tough business and you have to face an immense amount of rejection. But it's it's hard work and it pays off when you do get it. When you do reach that one role that you were just dying to get and you finally get it and it's so exciting and it just reminds you that all of this is worth it.

So, um, I know Stephen Spielberg is a producer on Red Band Society. Have you hung out at the house, have you gone for a barbecue? Are you tight with Stephen? Like Is he Stevie to you? Is he Uncle Stephen?

In my dreams. Uncle Steve. That's what we call him around set. Um, no, since we're in Atlanta, he he's primarily in LA. So he's been doing the whole behind-the-scenes tape deal. He's visited the editor's room, and the writer's room, but I've yet to meet him personally. But I hope that he makes a trip to Atlanta soon.

But you also know he must have approved your audition tape.

That is still something that I find hard to believe. The fact that Stephen Spielberg watched my tape and said, yeah, she's good, I'll take her. Like she's yeah, she could play Emma. What? That doesn't make sense.

It's real. It makes her real. He's probably sitting back in his chair, you know, at his house. Just doing his, you know. Nine-inch TV. Checking out your audition tape. Do you remember that moment when you found out you got the role? Was it a process, was it a luck?

It was a process. I felt like I waited three years when obviously it was maybe two weeks. Um, but it was just constant just anxiety built up built up within me. I started exercising, which is something that I don't regularly do. I don't even know what that is. I don't know what that word is. Yeah, I never heard of it. I had to look that up in a dictionary. Um, I started exercising. I was like, so nervous. I was cleaning my house. I just didn't know what to do with myself. I had so much energy, so much nervous energy. But I was uh, when I got the call that I had received the role of Emma. I was doing I was in the middle of French tutoring. And I was like, Rachel, Rachel, please, like two seconds. This is my agent. I know it's good news. Or I hope it's good news. Uh, just give me a second. She's like, yeah, yeah, don't worry, cuz I've been talking to her about it for a few weeks. And I picked up the phone and then like, oh, Sierra, like I don't know if you've heard of this little role called Red Band Society. But uh, you booked it. Oh my gosh. Insane. I sat down on my floor and then I got up and I started pacing. I was like, this is the best day of my life. I don't know what to do with myself. This is so great. I can feel it. It's gonna be so much fun.

What are you in for? I have a problem with my leg. It's gotta go tomorrow. Would you get to keep it? Yeah, yeah. I'm planning to freeze it. Like wedding cake. Right. I'll take it out every year for a walk. Get it a tattoo, go shoe shopping. God, that is sick even for me. This is seriously twisted. Not everybody appreciates it.
