Hey guys, Baruch here with Young Hollywood. It turns out Olivia Wilde's a bit of a music connoisseur. Find out what she's listening to right now on her iPod, only on Young Hollywood. Olivia, last time we spoke, we were talking about a much more serious issue. We were talking about baseball in the time of cholera. Yes. Now we're talking about something slightly more slightly different. Yes. What was it like to get into the role of a stripper?

Olivia Wilde

Um, well, this role was so much more than a stripper, which is what made it so fun. I mean, she's hilarious, whack-a-doodle. You know, she's a a girl from a small town who's stuck there, who's really cynical over it. And but she's really smart and sassy. So, she's a stripper, she's willing to be a hooker to get the money she needs to move out, you know. She's out there. She's very different from anything I've ever done. She's got an agenda.

Young Hollywood

She's got an agenda, and she's very practical about it. But she's also a very good dancer. What did it take to get those moves down?

Olivia Wilde

Thanks. Um, I didn't have much time, so I did have a session or two with a trainer who uh from the S Factor, which is a stripping, you know, pole dancing class. And that was helpful. And I went to the local strip club in Shreveport, Louisiana, with our director and our entire cast and our entire crew. Um, they didn't mind joining us for that research.

Young Hollywood

You come from a family of journalists. Yes. Has that influenced your approach, both to acting and to your other projects?

Olivia Wilde

Yeah, I'm sure it has. I'm sure it has. I have a lot of respect for journalists and I I, you know, the whole philosophy of speak truth to power has influenced my life in a big way.

Young Hollywood

How do you decide to use your voice? I mean, you've really taken on quite a few very important projects from empowering women around the world to your film Baseball in the Time of Cholera. How do you decide to really leverage your voice in that way?

Olivia Wilde

Um, well I I think it's everyone's responsibility to use their voice in a useful way. Um, and if you're a celebrity, you just have a louder voice. So, you should use it wisely. And, you know, people can do whatever they want. I don't mean to make people feel bad if they're not, you know, out there in the field doing things that are much more impressive than I, but I I really strive to be able to be um a a positive influencer.

Young Hollywood

What's the story that you think needs to be told most right now around the world?

Olivia Wilde

Well, what I'm focusing on right now is the story of oppression of women worldwide. And I'm really passionate about that as a a subject that needs to be brought up so that people understand that empowering women worldwide is the fastest way to achieve economic growth and the end of poverty.

Young Hollywood

Now, I noticed that you're a big fan of the new Mumford and Sons album.

Olivia Wilde

Yes, I am.

Young Hollywood

What else are you listening to right now on your iPod?

Olivia Wilde

Um, Aaron Embry is a really wonderful musician, and I'm really excited about his new album. And so I've been listening to that on repeat. The new XX is really good. Um, still listening to a lot of Frank Ocean. Can't really get over that. Pretty good. Pretty good. Yeah. So so a bunch of things. New Edward Sharpe, they have a new one coming out soon. So, There's great music out there. And I'm really into this new app called Songsza. Which is kind of like Pandora, but it's based on your activities. So, you put in like doing the dishes, and it gives you lists of different mixes that you can use for different activities. It's like a music butler. Yeah. It's awesome. It's it's a really genius, simple idea. I wish I had it myself.
