Hey guys, Baruch here with Piper Perabo.

Hi guys.

Piper, I feel like you were destined to be an actress. You were named after a different Piper, weren't you?

I was, I was named after Piper Laurie, but my parents, I mean, they just liked the name. It wasn't that they wanted me to be an actress.

So they weren't trying to sort of hint at you?

No, I mean, they were really positive and supportive when I said I wanted to do it, but no, they I don't think they were hinting.

With Looper, we see people who are loopers, called loopers, having these special superpowers. What superpower would you have if you could choose one?

Um, I really like, um, atmosphere. So I would like to have like the perfect atmosphere wherever I go, like the right background music, the right lighting, a good view, like I I would like to be Atmosphere Girl.

Staged life.

Yeah, it doesn't have to be like a show. It's like, you know, for having like a candlelight dinner, then like the temperature is correct, no one's in front of our view, backlit, you know, music that's like Bossa Nova or whatever. If you're running, then it's Rage Against the Machine. It's dawn. The light is streaky. Like I would like to have the power to create the perfect atmosphere.

Time travel has not yet been invented. But 30 years from now, it will have been. I am one of many specialized assassins in our present, called loopers. So when criminal organizations in the future need someone gone, they zap 'em back to me. And I eliminate the target from the future. You've been working both on Covert Affairs and in the movies and most recently with Looper with a bunch of really legendary actors. So let's try the shakedown. And action. Uh, well that, uh yeah. That'll actually require a little rehearsal. So, who's the guy? Tell me. As I come by, just kinda grab onto my arm and yeah. You take this thing. Yeah. What's the funniest thing that's happened on set with one of your co-stars?

Um, in the movie Looper, I'm like naked a lot, 'cause I play a hooker. And um, we were filming in New Orleans in the winter so it's very cold. So I had like one of those big down coats that goes to the floor. And I was standing and talking to Joe and Jeff Daniels is in the movie. And he arrived and he and Joe had done movies together before, so Joe came running over and I said like, "Can you introduce me because I don't know him personally and I don't want to just walk up to him." And so Joe introduced us and we were standing there talking. And then the dresser came over and she's like, "You know, we're about to roll." And so I took my coat off and I'm not wearing anything. And Jeff Daniels who was so cool right up until that moment was like, "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry." And like all of a sudden he was a dude again. Like, "I'm gonna leave you. I'm gonna leave you to your work." Like he got all flustered, it was so sweet.

Speaking of getting naked for your role, going nude, I guess you would say, for your role, what kind of preparation goes into that psychologically?

As a person, you have to make sure that you just feel good about yourself, you know what I mean, and not nitpick yourself to death or if I was a little bit skinnier, if I was a little bit more muscular, if I was whatever. You have to sort of get okay with yourself 'cause otherwise you're going to be miserable in the day. You don't know what people are really self-conscious about, and it's something that nobody else even notices. You know, what you get all wound up about, nobody else even sees it. So you have to just teach yourself not to be critical when you see it on the big screen.

Yeah, just be accepting. And you of course have danced on the big screen before.

Yes.

What was it like to be back in the dancing role?

It was it was fun to be back dancing. I really enjoy it and um, it's fun to go to rehearsal and it's a totally different kind of expression of things and you can really work it out on the dance floor in a way that like is very different from acting.

You love the technical side of things too.

Yeah, 'cause I saw your dad recorder and you know, in Looper, Rian Johnson, who's our writer, director, his brother did the music. He recorded all this found sound from the set and then created a virtual orchestra of like machine noise and then that's how he composed the score for Looper. So when you watch it, it's not a traditional action movie score. It's this sort of weird, mechanized, haunting sound. It's really cool.

This time travel crap just fries your brain like an egg. Piper, thanks for connecting with us.
