I am here with Kiki Palmer on the set of her talk show, Just Kiki.
I'm so excited for you.
Thank you.
I'm very excited.
This is a dream come true.
I know you've been in our studio.
Now we're in your studio.
How cool is that?
And what I love about it is like you know how guys have like a man cave?
This is like a female cave.
And you had a hand in the design.
It is.
I did.
Well, my main thing was, I wanted the set to be fun, like chill.
I wanted it to feel as if, you know, you know, we're all in the college community center or something like that where we're, I want to be able to touch my audience members because at the end of the day, it's a conversation.
The show is just Kiki, but it's really our show, you know?
So I wanted them to feel a part of it.
I wanted to get your opinion about some things that people do on social media, whether or not you think they're do's or don'ts.
First of all.
Okay.
No makeup selfies.
I think they're cool.
I think they're cool.
See, you're good, but you've done it.
Yeah, I've done it.
I think they're cool.
You know why?
Because who cares?
You know what I mean?
Who cares?
You don't have to do them, but if you do them, I think cool, why not?
It just, it's awesome.
J. Lo just did one and she did it very, very well.
Yeah, because J. Lo is everything, honey.
J. Lo is just, I mean, she ain't never gonna look old, ever.
She had me feeling bad about my life.
And I'm twenty.
I don't think you should.
I'm looking around this set.
I think you should feel really good about it.
Um, okay, man selfies, when men selfie.
I think they could go good or they could go bad.
It depends on if they're trying to be too much like, you know what I mean?
Like, sexy, whatever like that, then I'm kind of like, huh, pushed back.
But if they're like, you know, I'm cute, but I'm doing a little awkward selfie, then I'm like, oh, you're so adorable.
Right.
If there's something wrong with it.
If it's too perfect and the abs are too perfect and you know that they've spent too much time filtering, I have an issue with it.
All you have to do is take a little cute picture, outfit of the day, you'll be fine.
And every girl will be on your page.
Okay, the hot dog legs.
Do you know what I mean?
When girls do the legs the thing.
Oh, yes.
I'm trying to think if I've been guilty of that.
I know I have.
I don't, I don't, I'm trying to think if I have.
It could be quite, I think I might have at some point.
Ugh, I don't know why I did that.
You know what?
I probably did it because I've been working out on my thighs a lot, you know what I'm saying?
Shout-outs to my trainer, Godfrey.
He has my legs looking like I've been a gymnast for the last ten years.
And I might have got a little leg shot like, look at my legs, y'all, look at my leg work.
Listen, if you worked for it, then you can do it.
What about bikini pics?
Yes or no?
I think they're cool.
But not if, you know, I always tell my followers, I say, look, y'all, if you thirst trapping, be honest about the thirst trapping.
And what I mean about thirst trap is like a picture clearly to get people all over you like, oh my gosh, you're so hot, and blah blah blah.
If you're thirst trap and be honest with your thirst trap like, check out my bio, or whatever it may be.
When I don't like, they do the bikini pics like, I hate my bikini, yuck.
Don't, don't, don't do that.
Or they quote Shakespeare.
Like some big long quote and you're like, wait a second.
What does that have to do with your bikini happening right now?
Exactly.
That one I can't deal with.
But if you're like, in my bikini, at the beach, whatever it is, cool.
But if you're trying to act like you ain't trying to let people look at your cute swimsuit, then I don't have time for it.
So I know this show is gonna have, you're gonna have a heavy social media influence.
Definitely.
What, what sort of, can you give us a, a tease about what how is it sort of gonna be a part of the show?
That the audience will be a part, the meaning, the viewers will be just as part of the show as the inside audience is, by bringing their questions in.
You know, I'll every now and then, maybe we'll do, you know, um, video chats with them.
And anything we really can at any given moment, I'll always be thinking of how to make the viewers a part of it.
Because like I said, you know, I want everyone that's watching the show to be a part of it, even down to the way that we set up the set.
I want the viewers at home to know that we're making them part of it too.
So another thing you're gonna talk about on the show is relationships.
Definitely, because I learned a lot from my relationships, whether it be mom and dad, sister, brother, boyfriend, girlfriend, friend.
I think, uh, relationships in life, they can be useful to help you learn a lot about yourself.
And I'm always trying to grow.
And I always do a lot of introspection.
And so I learned a lot about myself from my relationships.
And I think it's made life easier for me.
So I definitely will share that with my audience.
Because this is a talk show format.
Yeah.
I know you're not you don't do you have a DJ?
Do you have a music?
We do have music.
And but the way it's set up in our show is that the everybody in the audience will be able to decide what they want to play.
How cool, right?
How cool, right?
Cool.
The audience decides the playlist for the day.
The audience decides the playlist.
They can go and they can change it and everything like that.
I think it's so fun.
Okay, so your first show, give me three songs or three, three artists that you have to play.
Definitely "24 Hours" by T-Fly.
Definitely "Don't Tell 'Em" by um, Jeremiah Y. G.
And the third one, I don't really know what it could be.
The third one we can just, you know, do a new one.
But those are my two favorite songs.
I literally have been killing my Twitter followers and my Instagram followers because every single video I do is of those songs.
You're covering it.
Yes.
I'm like dancing.
Yeah.
Doing a little twerking, twerking.
You're a really good dancer.
Thanks, girl.
Really.
Will there be any of that on the show?
Definitely, definitely.
There'll be dancing all throughout the show because anytime we go in and out of the breaks, we're gonna be turning that music up, having a party, having fun, you know.
It's like a little kickback, really, is what the show is about.
Kickback of us hanging and talking.
And at the same time we're learning.
Who's your ultimate cast?
Who would be your ultimate cast?
Rihanna, girl.
That's my girl.
That's my girl.
There's nothing else to it.
I'm so with you.
I literally, look, it's so funny because I think of her as a big sister and my little sister is like, Rihanna's my auntie.
She just doesn't know it.
So we all have these places for Rihanna in our lives.
And the reason why I think we love her so much.
I think a lot of people get it confused.
They think, oh, you know, well Rihanna does this, Rihanna does that and that's not what's okay.
But it's not really about any of that.
What I love about Rihanna is she's being herself.
And at the end of the day, that's all you can offer anyone.
That's what life is truly about.
I I think a lot of people try to make you feel selfish because you are doing what you want to do.
But really, life is your journey.
And no one else can experience your life but you.
So why not enjoy it the way that you choose to?
Rihanna's like, forget about the haters.
Forget about the judgment.
I'm gonna live my life.
And because she's accepting all of who she is.
Look at how she's shining.
I just wish her the best, always.
When I think of her, I think fashion, so I gotta ask you about fashion.
Because you look incredible.
Your style's incredible.
Thank you so much.
I know from the past, you've always looked incredible.
Oh, thank you.
Um, is there gonna be that element on the show as well?
Definitely, definitely.
Um, I definitely feel like I'm in, you know, because I've embraced a lot of my own individuality these last few years, you know, growing and everything like that.
I think um, my style has become something I'm very much so excited to share with everybody.
I'm an expressive person, and it's now dribbled down into my style.
I got two great stylists that I love working with that understand who I am.
And so we're gonna have fun on the show.
We're gonna have a lot, a lot of fun.
So three things that you're into right now.
Crop tops, always.
Um, mom jeans, I really love.
Um, skirts, long, maxi type skirts.
Uh, I have this one favorite black one that I love so much.
But all the like fun cute stuff.
I like a lot of the stuff that I can mix and match and dress up.
I don't like to buy one whole outfit because then I can't get that outfit out of my head when I want to use those specific items.
Right.
So I just buy little pieces and piece them all together.
And anything else you want to give a tease about the show, a guess that you have coming or
I don't want to tell you guys too much, but all I can let you know is, it's gonna be a fun time. And if you're looking to hang out, chill, and talk about stuff that we rarely get to talk about, and also feel a sense of community and love, then you can come anytime to Just Kiki. Watch and have fun and enjoy.
Thank you for chatting. Thank you. Congratulations. So happy for you. I just want to hang out in this place and never leave.
See, that's the thing. I love it. I love it. I told you, that's what you get when you come to Kiki. She got me. She got me.
