Hey guys, Marooq here in New York with Young Hollywood where we're about to catch up with John Leguizamo. So John, I wrote to my Twitter followers. I said, "Send me questions for John." And there was outrage over the fact that The Pest never won an Oscar.

John Leguizamo

I know. I've seen I've been seeing that. I don't know how I was overlooked but comedies are always overlooked, man.

Are you still really upset about it?

John Leguizamo

Yeah, I I I lose sleep over it. I You know, I I I started drinking again. I I don't know. It's rough. It's rough. You know, being looked over is a tough thing.

You were voted most talkative back in school. When did it occur to you, you know what? This could be my career.

John Leguizamo

Well, that was that was a consolation prize cuz uh class clown was really competitive in my school.

So they gave me a consolation prize.

You've done all right with it.

John Leguizamo

I've done all right. I had to overcome a lot of issues about it.

Now then you get to school and you're the only Latino in your drama class. What has it meant to you to be a Latino in theater and in movies?

John Leguizamo

Well, you know, I knew my people have we have a lot to contribute and always have. It was just weird to be sort of uh the just the opportunities weren't there and uh I was the only one that didn't care somehow. I didn't really care that there was a lot of uh doors closed and glass ceilings that you can't get through. I I was always the kind of person that was like never took defeat as uh as a reality.

What have you done to really break those ceilings?

John Leguizamo

Well, I wrote my own stuff when you know, from the rejection when I started the business, I started writing my own stuff, producing my own things. Pretty my own opportunities.

You just did the movie Chef. Are you a good cook in real life?

John Leguizamo

I'm okay.

What do you cook?

John Leguizamo

I do a great chicken. And I make great coffee.

I would That's what I tell kids when I go to schools and and and and jails. You know, when I
