About this video

The Brandon Walsh fangirl in all of us comes out when the one and only Jason Priestley stops by our pop-up Studio at NATPE in Miami to chat about his hit Canadian TV series "Call Me Fitz", and we challenge him to give us a sales pitch à la his unethical character! He also reveals to us the rather messy pre-fame job he once had, and he describes the moment when he knew he had finally "made it"! Hosted by Nikki Novak (@nikkinovak).

Hey guys, Nikki Novac here in the Young Hollywood Studio powered by Subway in Miami with Jason Priestley.

Young Hollywood

Great to see you.

Jason Priestley

Hi Nikki, nice to see you too.

Young Hollywood

Nice to see you all the way from Canada.

Jason Priestley

Yes, all the way from A little bit warmer here.

Jason Priestley

It's uh it's a it's a whole lot warmer here actually, yeah.

Jason Priestley

I got away from the deep freeze of Toronto.

Young Hollywood

So, call me Fitz.

Young Hollywood

You're in season four.

Young Hollywood

Did I read that you won a Golden Nymph Award in Monte Carlo for Best Actor in a Comedy?

Jason Priestley

I Most

Young Hollywood

You're looking surprised.

Jason Priestley

I most certainly did last.

Young Hollywood

Am I announcing this to you?

Jason Priestley

No, no, no, no, you did not.

Jason Priestley

Actually, I actually won that uh last June.

Jason Priestley

Ernie Grunwald uh who plays Larry on the show, he was actually there.

Young Hollywood

Who's your conscience?

Jason Priestley

Um he plays my conscience.

Young Hollywood

So, he was your conscience.

Young Hollywood

So, you were like, I won.

Young Hollywood

I'm really arrogant and he's like, keep it down.

Jason Priestley

I was directing an episode of Haven at the time.

Jason Priestley

He sent me a text and let me know that I won.

Jason Priestley

It seemed very 21st century to me to get a text uh from somebody that you won an award, right?

Jason Priestley

It was very I maybe maybe you should tweet it.

Young Hollywood

You know, yeah, exactly.

Young Hollywood

Tell them that you tweet the winner.

Jason Priestley

Tell them to tweet the winner.

Young Hollywood

So, you play a used car salesman.

Young Hollywood

You're very shall I say without a conscience?

Jason Priestley

Yes.

Young Hollywood

When you're not with your conscience?

Jason Priestley

Yes.

Young Hollywood

So, I wanted to ask you, I'm going to put you on the spot a little bit.

Young Hollywood

If I was going to have you try to sell me this Young Hollywood pillow for $1,000.

Young Hollywood

Give me your best sales pitch.

Jason Priestley

You need to buy this pillow.

Young Hollywood

Why?

Jason Priestley

Well, look at this pillow.

Jason Priestley

It's beautiful.

Jason Priestley

It's black, it's white.

Jason Priestley

Feel it, just feel it.

Jason Priestley

I mean it's shiny.

Jason Priestley

Put put your hands on it.

Jason Priestley

Feel it.

Jason Priestley

It's soft.

Young Hollywood

But I'm not I'm feeling like 50 bucks.

Jason Priestley

Feel it smooth.

Jason Priestley

It's soft.

Young Hollywood

Not feeling $1,000.

Jason Priestley

How about how about $900?

Young Hollywood

How about, oh my gosh.

Young Hollywood

It's really starting to grow on me.

Young Hollywood

It feels good.

Jason Priestley

How about $500?

Young Hollywood

How about $750?

Jason Priestley

Done.

Young Hollywood

Done.

Jason Priestley

Sold.

Young Hollywood

Boom.

Young Hollywood

He is a great salesman.

Young Hollywood

So, before you were an actor, before all this and and a director.

Young Hollywood

What was the very first job you ever had?

Jason Priestley

The very first job I ever had.

Jason Priestley

It had to be in Canada somewhere.

Jason Priestley

Oh, yes, it was.

Jason Priestley

So I was a house painter for a long time.

Jason Priestley

I was a I was a potato farmer.

Young Hollywood

No.

Jason Priestley

That was a good one.

Jason Priestley

Yeah.

Jason Priestley

I used to work on a potato combine.

Jason Priestley

The potato combine cuts into the ground and pulls up potatoes that are under the ground.

Jason Priestley

But it also pulls up chunks of dirt that are about the same size as potatoes.

Jason Priestley

As the potatoes come up the conveyor belt, so do the chunks of dirt and when you work on a potato combine, you have to get rid of the chunks of dirt so only potatoes go into the truck.

Young Hollywood

Wow.

Young Hollywood

Very glamorous job.

Jason Priestley

Very glamorous.

Jason Priestley

Very glamorous.

Jason Priestley

So I'm I'm very thankful for the opportunities I have in my life now.

Jason Priestley

It's very tangible to me to see how far my life has come from where I'm speaking of that.

Young Hollywood

Like, what did you have a moment where you sort of said to yourself, I've made it.

Young Hollywood

Whether or not you really did at the time or or went on to bigger things.

Young Hollywood

Was there sort of that first moment where you were like, wow, I've really like succeeded in Hollywood.

Jason Priestley

There've been a lot of little moments, you know, and things that you sort of go, oh, wow.

Jason Priestley

Huh?

Jason Priestley

The Prince of Monaco invited me over to his house to hang out and have cocktails.

Jason Priestley

That's kind of cool.

Jason Priestley

You know, but of course.

Young Hollywood

How was that?

Young Hollywood

That sounds like a big moment.

Jason Priestley

It's pretty cool.

Jason Priestley

But you know, you you know, the I mean there are little things like that that you sort of realize that things like that don't happen every day to to to kids from North Vancouver.

Young Hollywood

And I noticed on your Twitter, hockey, hockey.

Young Hollywood

Hockey.

Young Hollywood

Hockey.

Young Hollywood

Hockey.

Young Hollywood

I feel like you could almost be a like a hockey announcer.

Young Hollywood

But I feel like you'd be really good at it.

Young Hollywood

Aside from aside from the pillow sales, Will, you're very kind.

Jason Priestley

You're very kind.

Jason Priestley

Uh it's a great game and I I have a lot of uh a lot of passion for the game.

Jason Priestley

I think like most Canadians.

Jason Priestley

So it's uh it's definitely uh it's definitely something that I follow and and something that I uh that I that I get a lot of enjoyment from.

Young Hollywood

So who's your team?

Jason Priestley

The Vancouver Canucks.

Young Hollywood

Can you give a little, a tiny little sports announcer like, tell us why the Vancouver Canucks are going to win the Stanley Cup this year?

Jason Priestley

Well, the Vancouver Canucks, I I think the Vancouver Canucks have a great shot to represent the Western Conference in the Stanley Cup Finals this year.

Jason Priestley

I think that Schneider will be their goalie uh going forward.

Jason Priestley

If the Luongo ends up sticking around in Vancouver, I think they probably have the best one-two goalie combination um in the Western Conference right now looking uh looking forward.

Young Hollywood

You sounded so authoritative.

Young Hollywood

You know what you're doing.

Jason Priestley

Not really.
