BUTTER's Rob Corddry
About this video

He tells us about winning the Creative Arts Emmy for his TV show and the speech mishap that immediately followed, and he also relays to us the amazing way that co-star Jennifer Garner punk'd him on the set of their film! Hey guys, Baruk here with Young Hollywood, chatting with man of comedy, Rob Corddry. And only we've got the exclusive scoop on which celebrity just pranked him. Rob, congrats on your Emmy.
Thank you.
And I know you've been talking a little about the importance of the Creative Arts Emmys.
Yeah, I have. Uh because, and you know, I wish I had had more time. I was told that we were going to have two minutes for our speech. And then I got there and it was 45 seconds from the time they call your name. So I had to completely rewrite a speech that I may not have even been had to have given.
Hypothetical speech.
Yeah, hypothetical speech, exactly. Uh and and I was just stressing out so much about it because I wanted to thank the the the, specifically the people in my crew, you know, who who, because this is their their night, you know, and uh and then I was like, oh well, there's no time. I got to just thank the people that that everybody else thanks.
I mean, that is a moment of reckoning. You're starting to put people on the chopping block.
You have to. I mean, you have to, you have to. Yeah. I actually forgot one too, man. Keith Crawford, one of the execs at Adult Swim.
Well now you've made up for it.
Thanks, Keith.
Thanks, Keith. Yeah, you have a very tender relationship with your foster daughter on uh in the movie. Do you think that there's, of course, it's a comedy, but what's the deeper lesson that you think we could learn from that relationship?
Oh god. Uh don't talk to children like they're children. Um until you have to. Cause that that doesn't always apply. Uh that you don't um you don't own your kids, that they
Do they own you?
In a way. It's a whole other thing. Uh but they then and your job is to uh nurture and let go.
Yeah, and that's the tough part. Just let them do their thing.
Yeah. That's That didn't really, that would be the sequel to Butter. You'd see me after doing that. I imagine all the bad things that could possibly happen if you enter this contest. Like, you could die of a tragic butter overdose. What if this place is full of good-looking British vampires? The worst of all of them. They're so pale. Or there could be a mass murderer who only kills adorable little girls. Think about it. Or racist ninjas.
Racist ninjas. Yes. High five. You are a man of comedy. You were on set.
I'm a man of comedy. Man of comedy. It has a good ring to it, right?
Yeah, I like it. You're. You said man of letters, it sounds like but man of comedy. It's very distinguished. It guess. You were on set with a few other men and and women of comedy. Of Oh, the poster's gone. Well,
It's the spirit. In spirit. Put one up. Look at all these men and women of comedy.
What's the funniest thing that happened on set with this cast?
Okay. Um this is something of a long road. I'm going to try and encapsulate it. Uh I I um my wife uh was at home in LA at the time and we were we had some uh renovations we were working on and our contractor uh she found out that day that our contractor was a uh uh sex addict and he's been kicked out of gyms in our neighborhood because he's he's a and he's going through a pro he just got a divorce like he's a he's addicted. He wasn't working out. He wasn't working out. And and I was like, really, is he there now? And she my wife was like, yeah, uh he's working out and and and Sloane, my four-year-old was like was remarking about how he has to work, Mommy, why isn't he wearing a shirt? And uh and she was like, oh, it's hot out. She goes, look at his muscles. And so and my I was like, all right, all right. So you got a hot contractor who likes to have sex. Working at the house and I'm 3,000 miles away. And I we laughed about it and I told Jen Garner that day. And about eight hours later, she came up to me and so straight, so funny. She's like, I just talked to your wife. Did you guys get a new treadmill or something? Because she was really out of breath. Wow. And of course, it was only like maybe a quarter of a second of like, what And then I was like, and then the rest of the second was that was the funniest thing I've ever heard anybody say, well done, Jen Garner.
That is genius. It's pretty great. I don't think we can top that, Rob. That was a
Yeah, it was a good one. Well, thank you. It's a good one. That was just for you, too. That that was a Young Hollywood exclusive. By the way, aren't you guys like, it's almost like you're teenage Hollywood now.
Well, I'm not
You're not teenager. No, but you're not young either. I mean, you're old. It's just a lot of makeup. You you I mean, you're young in a sense, but when you think Young Hollywood, I think of like uh um uh you know, young, like kids, like kids.
It's a spirit we all have Young Hollywood within us.
Oh, right, right, right, right, right. Anybody can be Young Hollywood.
