What's up, guys? Leslie Robbins here for Young Hollywood. I have once again crashed a rehearsal at the Hollywood Bowl. This time, it's for the star-studded show, Mamma Mia.
They want you to do the Hollywood Bowl. I said, yes. And she said they tell you what it was? Yeah, she said it was Broadway at the Hollywood Bowl, because I had already seen one of the productions. And I was like, yes. And she was like, okay, do you want to know who's in it? I was like, I already said yes, but who's who else is in it? And they said Jennifer Nettles. I almost laid down on the floor because I'm such a fan of Sugarland. I'm such a fan of Jennifer Nettles that I scream. It's so intense, you know, we just have the nine days to learn the whole thing. So, yeah, I was like, yes, this sounds fantastic.
How does that happen though? Nine days. Break down like rehearsal and prep. How does it work?
I don't really know how it's happening. I it's it's that's that's one of I I will say that's one of the craziest things about the ball is it's like a summer camp, you know, you you show up and it is so fast-paced and it's and it's over in the blink of an eye. But like a summer camp, you know, you you form bonds with everybody. That's what theater does. I just think they went out and found the perfect group of people to do this show. I mean, it's not only are we all like kind of from all these crazy places, but it's so perfect. I mean, when you hear Jennifer Nettles do what she does, you know, and you saw Teashee do her. I mean, come on, it's just amazing. Second guest: I'm going to be brutally honest with you. I was not a fan of Abba. Abba was for my parents. When I was started to listening to music, there was the Abba Gold album out there. And it was, you know, I never got into it. But then this blessing came to my life. And I feel so bad because out of ignorance I thought Abba Mamma Mia was a jukebox musical. Like, yeah, super troop, right? And then you're like, oh my dear God, this is taking a toll on my heart.
We are surrounded by so many people who are triple threats, you know, and they're included. Hello. But it's such like-minded people who just care about the art, and care about their craft, and and it's so nice to be plugged in to the same type of person, you know what I mean, who just wants to do well for themselves, and for the next person next to them, doesn't want to let that next person down.
You're the queen of country, and now you're tapping into musical theater. Are you here to stay? Are you going to grace Broadway now? What are you going to?
You know, I did Broadway a couple years back in 2015. Yes, I did. Yes, I did Chicago. And I've been since still, you know, enjoying being a part of that community and learning about it, and been doing some readings and workshops and all those things. So, this came along and I felt like what a fantastic opportunity to do something more diverse and and to continue to show what I love to do. And I grew up doing theater. So, for me, it's getting back, you know, it's getting back to a love. Second guest: And they said we we're out to somebody, we're going to we're almost there. We'll let you know. And they told me it was Dove. And I was like, yep, of course, I'm sure there are are other beautiful, wonderful actresses who who could do it, but I think that she really captures who Sophie is and and I I think that you know, it's cool. You have two sort of generations of this this Disney upbringing that are coming together.
I'm going to tell you this, please don't slap me, but I think that story is equally powerful as the music. Second guest: Yeah, that just happened.
Oh, my go-to song is a song in my character sings, Take a Chance on Me. Give me a little bit. Second guest: Oh, I'm going to get to do that. Okay, all right.
If you change your mind. Second guest: Oh, how's that? That's all you're getting.
The the lay all your love on me? Second guest: I didn't I not just perform for you? I didn't just perform for you? Are you are you going to do it with me? I I'll move. You'll move. See? See, you're trying to fake. Uh-huh. You are a dancing queen. Young and sweet. Only seventeen. I wasn't jealous before we met. Now every man that I see is a potential threat. Oh. And I'm possessive. It is night.
What about go-to dance move from that era? You got one? You got one? Second guest: I mean, you know, they've got us, I mean, they've got us with John Travolta, we've got I mean, we there's so many. Oh, the the Elvis. Oh, I don't know. I was an Elvis. You want the one that. That one.
