Hey guys, Leslie Robbins here for Young Hollywood at the world premiere of The Longest Ride. Now, this film is set in the world of bull riding and that very world has taken over Hollywood Boulevard. Not only am I one-on-one with the cast, but I got an exclusive ride on a bull. So we got bull riding and romance. Right. Yeah. Which part got your juices going a little bit more?
Ooh, that's that's sort of 50/50, isn't it? I don't know if I have an answer for that.
Here we go. It's looking good. And he's got it. He has made the eight seconds. Woo! Luke Collins now moves up to 48 in the world standings. I mean the shower scene, the abs. Your shirt was off a lot. I mean it's super hot. Did you see him without that shirt on?
Oh yeah, so I did. I saw too much of it. I became immune to the body, I think. I was just like there was a disconnect between me and the body at some point. Yeah, no, you know, all fun. It's part of making movies. there's love scenes in movies. This one was I think particularly well done. Yeah, I was talking to Jack Huston about that. I was like, Jack, you play in the film. I said, you know, I was thinking. I think Scott got his jacket, you know, got his shirt off throughout the film a lot. And then Jack was like, leave that alone. If I had a body like that, I'd take my shirt off too, you know.
Nicholas Sparks, the man behind The Notebook and so many romantic films. Bull riding?
Bull riding, right? I know. Well, you got to have characters that do interesting things and uh the bull riding, it plays, it's part of the lives of one of the characters. Luke falls in love with Sophia and Luke is a bull rider.
Would you let your dad Clint watch the romance scenes? Sex scenes?
I wouldn't let my dad do anything. He does whatever he wants. First things first. Uh yeah, no, I'd be proud for my dad to see it. I think it's a great film.
I heard you actually rode a bull, didn't let the studio know about it.
Yeah, yeah, I didn't tell them. They weren't too happy when they found out. Then they saw the video, then they were a little happier because they knew I was alive and they said, oh well, well this is nice. Now we we can use this.
The line in the movie Nicholas wrote, The Art World, Scott's character said, complete BS. What do you find in life is complete bull?
Um, I think it's uh literally bull the the the that's happening over there that's bull. Cleaning my room.
Cleaning your room is complete BS.
Yeah. You know what? I think when you look at life, right? And you see in LA and you see all this traffic, and you see that everybody got somewhere to go and they got nothing to do. That's bull. That's how I feel. I find pessimism to be bull. There's a lot of bull out there. I think people should just leave everyone else the hell alone. You know, it's like my dad says, just why does everybody got to be in everyone else's business all the damn time? You know, just go live your own life and and and you know, focus on yourself and your family and stuff. Get all up in arms about everything.
Bonner Bolton, a world-class bull riding champion. You've taken over Hollywood Boulevard with some of your friends.
Yeah, these are my friends. You're getting to look at guys we play with week in and week out. These are our teammates.
I have to ask, what are you thinking? Are you crazy?
Well, I mean, you got to love it and you have to have passion for what you do, no matter what it is. Even if it's jumping off a cliff, which is comparable to what we do.
Now, you ride the bull. You are Scott Eastwood in the film in that big moment.
Yeah, it took a couple of weeks of long, you know, just intense getting on bulls, getting all the right shots, bull after bull. And finally, the last night of the filming for the riding, we got the final shot for the movie, which it worked out good and now they have a movie for it.
How do you maintain this body and not roll in on a wheelchair?
Takes a lot of stretching. Hot yoga, Tai Chi, a lot of different.
No, I do yoga. You can't be doing yoga.
Yeah. Oh yeah, that's like the best thing for bull riders. Yoga, yoga. Definitely.
All of your friends are making noises. They're dancing behind us. Do you want to show me around what we got?
Let's check it out. This is behind the scenes. This is the alleyway. This is where the bulls come through and we load them into the chute right here. What you see right here is what we hold on to. This is the handle and this is the tail and it goes through this loop down here just snug enough that it doesn't fall off and we don't fall off. So.
But you're gonna fall off.
It's all about just the matter of balance and coordination and a little bit of strength. Um we have a bull kicking bull at us.
Yeah, those guys are amping up getting ready for what they do best. Being wild, explosive and going out there, just throwing a lot of energy out there. By the way, they're putting me on a bull. Getting on a bull, I must be insane. Insane. Eight seconds. You got to stay on eight seconds. That I learned that because of the movie. Eight seconds. Yes. Now, what happens if you want to stay on longer? Does that ever happen?
You kind of aim for longer just so that you can get off good and make a a good safe dismount.
Yeah. You are about to see Tugger get put into the chute here and you're gonna get the full experience of tying yourself onto one of these things. These guys, this is what they do day in and day out. I don't do this day in and day out, though. I'm okay. Tugger. Wait, so how much does he weigh?
This bull right here is pretty average. He's about 15 or 1600 pounds. Maybe 14.
Yeah. Do we do a prayer?
Yeah, you can do your Hail Marys or whatever you need to do.
Okay. Hi, Tugger. So put one foot across. Okay, now flip these out of the way. Knees first. Okay. Oh, I'm doing I'm doing okay. Knees down first. Now slide your legs down slowly down to the bottom rail. Yep. Don't move. Don't move. Okay. Okay, now go ahead and put your I'm on a bull. Now I'm gonna give it a slight tug and you tell me. Give me some, right? Yeah, tell me. You got to tell me. Bonner, give me you don't He's moving. Okay. Okay, friend. Now go ahead and take that across. Okay. Pull it around even. Oh. And around in front. You're ready to shoot all the way up there. And you're ready to nod. Wait. Wait. I got to jump off this. Left foot down. Right foot down. Both feet down. And now you're ready to go. Open the gate. No, don't open the gate. And then once you go, they're going to go up and down, up and down and it's just really this motion right here throughout the whole ride. You're getting timed like a rocking chair. Back and forth. How did that feel? See, he's so relaxed. He's taking a wiz right now. Is he peeing? Yeah. Okay, Bonner, that had to be probably one of the most unique experiences I've ever tackled. You do that day in and day out. That's amazing.
Yeah, it's a skill that we try to sharpen daily. It has to do with form and posture, self-control on top of the animal. Our rides are judged from 1 to 100 on control of your ride and how fast and how hard that animal goes at it.
Nice. Let me Can I borrow your hat? Yeah. Let me see. Now I'm the part.
Now you're really the part.
